Chapter 92: Ch 92: There is something off about him - part 1

"I see. If this is what it looks like to you, then I will choose to believe you. After all, you are the one who knows them the best. Now, go to sleep and recover from your injuries. Or, do you want to get checked out-"

"There is no need. I know that I am fine. I will go to sleep now."

Noah crawled into his bed before he closed his eyes, and his breathing evened out.

He was not one to fall asleep so quickly, but he was truly exhausted today. Everything that happened had taken its toll, and his body was no longer able to handle the stress.

Moreover, he had Bluey back, so his senses were telling him that it was finally safe to stay back and rest. That was why he closed his eyes and allowed sleep to claim him.

Unsettling eyes kept looking at his sleeping form without blinking, but Noah was unaware of the emotions that flashed across Erin’s face.

He lightly reached out to touch Noah’s face before he felt startled that he had hands and could feel Noah’s warmth. But once he became a little more sure, that touch became a little heavier and unguarded.

Erin’s fingers brushed against Noah’s lips gently before they went up toward his eyes and then toward his cheeks.

"I am sorry that I have to deceive you like this. Honestly, I don’t think I have much time left, and every second I spend in the human body makes me feel even more unstable. And yet...I don’t want to leave your side, even if it’s dangerous to stay by you."

It was a good thing that he had used the artifact to put Noah to sleep because it looked like Noah really needed it.

There were huge dark circles under Noah’s eyes that made him look even more worn out. Noah looked like he had not gotten proper rest for a long time.

He did look happier than he was in the labs, but it was not hard to achieve that. Anything was better than him looking like a zombie that was awaiting the end of the world.

But now Noah had a lifeline, and he refused to allow anyone to take it away from him.

"I will make sure you get your happy ending. Even if I don’t have much time, I will probably have enough to give you what you need."

Erin had plans of his own, and all of them involved Noah’s safety and happiness. So he was going to make sure Noah finally broke free.

But if he knew about Noah’s plans, the labs knew as well. Especially that cunning head scientist, who knew for certain.

So Erin’s goal was to make sure that the head scientist was blocked from all sides so that he wouldn’t be able to approach Noah, and meanwhile, he was going to make sure Noah remained unaware of what was going on.

"Stop pacing. What do you think pacing around like this will achieve? You are just going to tire yourself out."

Daniel pointed out as he started on his homework assignment. But Alan’s pacing was distracting him from being able to study...not that he needed to study.

None of these assignments were being graded anyway, and he was only doing them to distract himself from what was happening.

Alan, on the other hand, let out a scoff of agitation, and Daniel was surprised to see him like this.

After all, it was not like Alan to get this emotional and show it like this.

"I know you feel frustrated as well after what happened. Noah was taken away right in front of us! Do you have any idea how that feels for me as an esper? My guide chose someone else right in front of me."

Alan pointed out, and just saying this out loud made his emotions boil even more.

His hands itched to grab the professor’s pretty neck and break it until Noah had no choice but to look at him with a begging expression and use his small hands to beg Alan for mercy, which he would give. But only after-"

"Ugh, I have a feeling I should not ask what is going on through your mind. But it’s not like I don’t understand where you are coming from. Noah’s actions were a shock to me as well."

Daniel had also felt heartbroken when he had seen Noah choosing their professor, whom he had only known for a day at most...unless...

"Do you think that professor is someone Noah knew before coming here? They looked awfully close to only being acquaintances in this academy."

It was Daniel’s intuition that told him that this was the case, but he had no proof to support his theory.

Alan just sighed and threw himself on his bed after hearing these words. He let out a sigh before his eyes glanced at Daniel.

"I am going to seduce Noah. I don’t even care anymore. I am going to seduce him and bind him to me as his esper permanently. That way, he won’t be able to leave me even if he wants to. I am going to ruin him for anyone else-"

Daniel threw a pillow toward Alan’s face, which finally broke him out of his daze.

He looked at Daniel’s annoyed face, but the guide only huffed in anger.

"Don’t even think about it! Noah is a human being, and he deserves to be treated like one. I will kill you myself if you even think about doing anything to Noah."

It was a promise which Daniel was going to keep, and Alan sighed before putting his hand over his eyes.

"This sucks."

"Well, that’s life. You cannot always get what you want in it. And you better start behaving like a human if you don’t want to lose Noah, because I will help him hide from you if he asks me to."

Alan let out a grumpy huff before he forced himself to go to sleep. But he still felt uneasy about the whole professor business and Noah’s involvement in it.
