Chapter 91: Ch 91: Why are you here?

"Noah-"

Alan’s voice sounded full of betrayal when he said Noah’s name, and it made Noah feel guilty for ignoring him like this.

But Erin was still holding his hand out, almost as if he was asking Noah to hurry up, and Noah stepped closer to him. A satisfied smile broke out on Erin’s face, and his eyes had a hint of victory in them when he looked at the trio standing behind Noah.

"It seems like the choice here has been made. You all should head back to your rooms now. It has been a long day for you as well."

Noah did not dare look back after this because he feared what he would see if he did. He could already feel the look of betrayal on Alan’s face.

Daniel, who had a clear head on his shoulders, let out an audible sigh before he addressed Alan.

"We should get going now. We need to report that we are done and record our scores. I am not going to fail this test just because you decided to be stubborn."

Daniel sounded a little disappointed as well, but he was rational at the same time.

Noah heard the sound of someone being dragged along outside, and then there was silence around him, which made him let out a sigh.

"They are gone, so you can turn back now. But if you don’t want to, then that is fine as well. We should head to the medical wing to get you checked out-"

"I am fine! Rather than being checked out, I would like to have a talk with you in your room. Can you take us back there without being seen?"

Noah had no idea why, but he had a feeling that if anyone could sneak him back to their room, it was Erin.

He noticed the startled look on Erin’s face before a smile broke out on it.

"Of course. Your wish is my command. Just give me a second, and we shall be back home."

The world rippled around Noah, and his body felt weightless for a few seconds before he began to descend. He prepared to land on his feet, but a pair of arms around him caught him and put him down.

Professor Erin’s power was holding Noah tightly, which made his skin tingle. Those familiar waves of power rolling off his body filled him with nostalgia to the point where he felt foolish for even forgetting this or doubting Erin.

"Is everything alright? You look a little distracted-"

Noah was too overwhelmed by his emotions to sit still. He ended up wrapping his arms around Professor Erin...no, rather, around Bluey, who had somehow found him again and was in human form now.

"Bluey, I don’t know why or how you took a human form, but I am glad that you are here. I won’t ask you what happened at the labs, but if you want to tell me, then I will hear you out."

Noah assured his once-companion with strong conviction in his voice, and Bluey remained quiet for a few seconds, too stunned to speak.

But then, he let out a chuckle before wrapping his arms around Noah as well.

"I see. So you finally realised who I am? What a pity. I wanted to spend a little more time with you while you were unaware of my identity. I think your reactions were hilarious."

Bluey’s words were aimed at making Noah angry, but he only chuckled even more, not even finding it in himself to get angry.

He was just glad to see Bluey again.

Noah did break the hug after what felt like centuries, but he still kept a light grip on Bluey’s sleeves in order to make sure he wouldn’t be able to go anywhere.

Once he calmed down and reassured himself that Bluey was still here, it became a little easier for him to accept things. He even sat down beside his now-professor on the bed, and there was no uneasiness in his expression.

"So, you want to know how I became human and why I came here? I have a feeling you already know the answer. But I will still tell you."

Bluey took a deep breath, almost as if bracing himself before he spoke again.

"It all started after you left the labs in order to carry out a mission. As you know, monsters, no matter how strong, have a lifespan, and mine was approaching its end. But just before that, the labs found a way to evolve me into a higher being with my powers intact."

"So, that means..."

"They found a way to keep me alive for much longer. Since I am human, I will be able to stay by your side for much longer. So, Noah, there is no longer a need to worry about me. You can live your life without being blinded to the labs or feeling guilty. I will stay by your side forever. And when you run away, take me with you."

Noah was not surprised that Bluey knew about his plans of running away from the labs. Noah had never made it a secret from him, and since a bird could not speak, he was sure that his secret would never leak.

But from the looks of it, Bluey had not told anyone his plan even after turning human.

As for his request...

"Of course I will take you with me. We are family, after all. And I feel like I am close to my goal here. Daniel and Alan could not even look at each other a week ago, but now Daniel is even dragging Alan around. Their relationship has progressed so much. Soon, they will be all over each other and forget about me..."

Saying this made Noah’s heart skip a beat in regret. But there was no need to feel sad.

Especially not now, when he was so happy he could skip around to show off his joy. So he would rather focus on happy stuff than what he felt at the moment.
