[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 93: Ch 93: There is something off about him - part 2
Noah felt much less awkward around Bluey...or rather, Professor Erin after last night. Knowing that it was someone he knew made it much easier for him to relax.
Moreover, Erin was very gentle with him, just like in the labs. It was almost like Noah was back home, and he wanted to bask in this feeling even more.
It felt like he was finally with family.
Well, for him, Alan and Daniel had been his family as well, but it was different with Bluey. After all, Bluey was almost like a son to him since he had taken care of him since he was first hatched using his guiding.
The traces of that were even left in Bluey’s own aura, and Noah swore he could feel it sometimes.
"What would you like to have for breakfast?"
Erin asked just as Noah dragged himself out of bed. He blinked up in half-surprise and half-sleep before replying.
"Whatever you make is good."
Professor Erin sighed before he got started on cooking. Meanwhile, Noah quickly cleaned up and also woke himself up. The water helped wash away his tiredness, and he felt like a new person when he came out to eat breakfast.
The food tasted familiar, even though it was Noah’s first time eating a lot of these dishes. But it might just be because of the familiar touch that went into making it.
"You have gotten good at cooking. When did you even learn all this? Did you even have the time?"
Noah asked, and Erin just shrugged at his words.
"I don’t know if it is because I am an evolved monster or because of my own abilities, but my memory and skill at picking up stuff are much stronger than those of normal humans. Many people at the labs told me that I have a ’picture-perfect’ memory, and they tried testing it as well. But they never told me the results."
That sounded like the researchers. They often got too immersed in their research and forgot to tell all the important information to the people involved.
Noah had been a victim of this as well in the past, and that was why he did not hold it against Erin for not knowing his skill set perfectly.
’Even I wouldn’t have known what I could do if I did not practice in secret and have visions of the future...which reminds me...it has been a while, right? I usually end up having a vision once every few months. Did my power finally run out? Or, have I made enough changes to the point where it is no longer needed? Then, does that mean I am free...?’
Unfortunately, Noah did not have an answer for this question.
"Let’s get going now. I want to get you checked out at the medical wing just to make sure nothing is wrong with you."
Erin told Noah, and he let out a sigh.
Honestly, he did not want to go to the medical wing, but disappointing Erin was also not something he wanted to do. So he relented in the end and decided to get himself checked out.
...
"You are in the clear now. You can stop wearing the neck bandages...although, keep them on if it makes you feel comfortable."
Professor Riku looked beyond exhausted, and his eyes threatened to close periodically while he tried to examine Noah.
Seeing him like this made Noah feel sorry for him. He did not deserve to deal with this bullshit that the academy was forcing on him all the time.
"Professor, you look like you have not slept in days-"
"That’s because I haven’t. Somehow, these espers keep injuring themselves. And it is especially bad this year. I don’t even want to think about what is going to happen during the academy festival. Ugh, I should quit before that time."
Riku really looked distressed to the point where Noah wanted to comfort him. But Erin’s hand on his shoulder reminded him that it was not a good idea for him to do such a thing.
"I see. In that case, we will leave you alone now-"
"No, wait! I need to talk to you for a bit. Professor Erin, can you give us some space?"
Riku asked, and Erin gave him an unnerving look like he did not want to.
"I am sure that whatever you have to say, you can say it in front of me as well. Think of me as Noah’s guardian for now."
Noah glared at Erin for his cheeky words.
If anyone was a guardian here, then it was him who practically raised this chick. Where was Erin getting the idea that he was the responsible one between them?
Riku did not even seem to care at this point and decided to stop holding back his words.
"Fine, if you want to hear me speak, then I won’t stop you. It is about you anyway. All I wanted to tell Noah was that there is something off about you and your energy. You don’t feel human to me. Are you happy now?"
Noah did his best not to show his nervousness on his face at that accusation, but Erin did not seem bothered.
Instead, he let out a chuckle at that accusation.
"Ah, I see. Well, this is not the first time someone has said these words to me, so I am not bothered. In fact, I feel flattered whenever someone says this to me these days. It makes me feel like I have achieved my goal of scaring them off."
Noah looked between the two professors, unsure what to make of this conversation. Riku was clearly suspicious of Erin, but Erin did not seem worried about being discovered.
Instead, he looked almost amused by the accusation.
"I suppose that means your instincts are working properly, Professor Riku. You should trust them more often."
Erin said this with a smile, but there was something sharp hidden behind those words that made Noah feel uneasy.
Riku narrowed his eyes before sighing.
"I will keep an eye on you. Just make sure you don’t give me a reason to interfere."
Erin nodded casually before turning toward Noah.
