[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 67: Ch 67: We’re gonna have a talk
’Make up? Make up for what exactly? The one who is causing me trouble is you two. Why would you keep giving me your attention and not focus on each other?’
Noah was so close to bashing the esper-guide pair’s heads together in order to get them to like each other, but he knew that it was of no use.
Besides, they were making progress, so that was more than enough for him at the moment. Any more than this and he was afraid that he would be pushing it.
"Noah, I know that you are easy-going and a people-pleaser, but you don’t have to go along with Alan’s ridiculous requests, alright? If you cannot say no, then just make an excuse using my name. I promise I will always play along with you."
Daniel promised, and Noah tried to nod before realizing that he was being held in Daniel’s arms. The other guide had his chin on Noah’s shoulder, and his eyes were sparkling when they looked at Noah.
This felt a little overwhelming as well, so Noah just let out a small laugh while trying to pull away from this half-hug.
"I see...I promise I will try to do that in the future."
He told Daniel while struggling a little. And that was enough of a clue for Daniel to let him go.
Noah let out a sigh of relief as he finally became free, and once Alan came out and Daniel freshened up, it was time to head to class.
...
’Something is wrong. I can feel someone looking at me from afar, but this gaze...’
It was not a friendly gaze. Whoever was looking at Noah was doing so with the intent to harm him.
Not that they would be able to, but Noah did not like the fact that he was being looked at in such a way.
He quickly looked around the hall with a discreet eye and noticed that it was the esper stalker who had already attacked him.
Since the identity of the stalker had never been made public, there was no need for him to hide either. But the fact that he was getting so close to Daniel was concerning.
’Hey, isn’t this too much? Surely the teachers won’t allow that unstable esper anywhere near Daniel after what he already did?’
But the teachers looked unbothered by what was happening. And Noah had a feeling that the teachers were doing this on purpose.
After all, they knew what happened and what that stalker was planning. But they refused to get involved in this mess.
’These teachers sure are biased. For all their talk about ’high-grade’ guides and equality, they sure like to back espers during times like these.’
It was clear that the stalker had no intention of stopping, and that meant that Noah needed to put his plan into motion a little quicker.
First, he was going to approach that stalker and have a talk with him. But if that talk did not work out...then Noah would start talking.
Luckily, the chance to talk to that stalker came far quicker than he expected, as the esper was waiting outside their class during lunch hour.
No one else seemed to have noticed due to the esper’s ability to cloak himself. But Noah had training in spotting such things, so he was able to make out the silhouette, and he decided it was the perfect time to put his plan in motion.
Since lunch break had just started, no one would bat an eye at Noah heading out to the bathroom...
Well, no one should have. But Ethan decided to look up as soon as Noah stood up to head out, and the other esper leveled him with a curious glance.
"Where are you going? Do you want me to come with you? It might be safer if I do."
Ethan told Noah, and he immediately shook his head to tell Ethan that it was not needed.
"I am just heading to the washroom, so I don’t need an escort. I doubt anything would happen since there are so many people around-"
"Didn’t the last few accidents happen with other people around as well? I am not sure if I believe you."
That was rude and unnecessary for Ethan to say, and Noah felt like he was at a loss. What could he even say to such an accusation? Especially when it was true...
Still...
"What is even the point of you following me? I just need to head to the room beside this one. And it’s not like you can follow me into the stalls..."
Ethan looked just as surprised as Noah was after hearing these words.
Noah felt too embarrassed to even look at Ethan, and he quickly ran out of the room before Ethan could realize what he had said.
’I don’t think I can look Ethan in the face for a while.’
Noah complained as he walked out, but he immediately focused on the task he was here to do once he reached the hallway.
He made sure to bump into the stalker but made it seem like an accident. That caused the esper to release his ability, showing that he was there.
"Ouch-"
The fall did not hurt, but Noah made sure to emphasize it in order to gain the esper’s attention.
He noticed how the stalker’s eyes widened as he looked down with a bitter look on his face.
"You..."
He tried to say, but Noah quickly leveled him with an apology.
"I am sorry. I was not seeing where I was going, and you...aren’t you the stalker who tried to harm me-"
The esper grabbed Noah’s face and, with a panicked look, decided to tug him toward an empty hallway.
"Don’t open your mouth if you value your life. You and I are going to have a talk about him, and then you are going to help me. Do you understand?"
The esper told Noah, and he pretended to be surprised by this. But honestly, the one who had fallen into the trap was the esper, and he did not even know about it yet.
