Chapter 53: Ch 53: Aftermath

The teachers also looked at a loss for what to say. Alan had used a loophole to trap them all, which made them awkwardly look at each other.

Finally, one of them coughed and took a step forward to calm the situation down.

"While that may be the rule, we also take situational evidence into consideration. And right now-"

"What right now? There was a monster loose in the school. I think it is justified for an esper to use their ability. If it’s about rules, then I will clarify this right now. I was the one who gave Student Alan permission to use his ability. Happy now?"

Riku sounded pissed off as he walked toward the open ground. He had already healed himself, and his mood had plummeted because of it.

Seeing him, the other teacher flinched, and whatever he had been about to say got stuck in his throat.

The other teachers quickly jumped to his rescue and started speaking one after another.

"What happened here-"

"Where did this monster come from?"

"We will need to interrogate the people involved. For now, Student Noah, you need to come with us-"

A teacher reached for Noah’s hand, and he instantly pulled his hand back. Everything was starting to feel a little overwhelming.

Of course, this angered the proud teachers.

Since they could not complain against Alan or Riku, he was naturally the next best target. And their complaints instantly filled his ears.

"Such arrogance! What do you think you are doing-"

Noah only half-heard the teachers as he looked around. Now that the rush of adrenaline had left his system, his head had started to throb.

He wanted to get back to his room and sleep this off. He needed-

"Noah, are you alright? Hey, you look unsteady. What is-"

Daniel was walking toward him, and out of everyone here, his energy was the calmest. Perhaps it was because he was the only other guide, but Noah felt safe heading to him.

Alan’s arms reached for Noah as well, but Daniel was faster and grabbed Noah’s head.

"Hey, are you alright-"

"I have a headache. Just give me a moment."

Noah rested his head against Daniel’s shoulder, and the yelling continued. Daniel quietly took him back while the others sorted this mess out between themselves.

"Should I take you back to your room?"

Daniel asked, and Noah almost agreed before his instincts told him not to.

If the stalker had come for him, then his room was likely not a good place to be. And neither was Daniel’s room...

They needed to go to another place.

"Daniel...I am going to say something, and you are going to think that I have lost my mind. But just...hear me out here. I think we should go to Alan’s room."

A deadly silence followed Noah’s declaration before Daniel turned him around and grabbed his face.

A pair of concerned eyes met Noah’s as Daniel looked him up and down.

"Oh god! Did this incident shake you mentally? Are you feeling alright? No, you must be out of it right now! Otherwise, how can you ever suggest this in the right state of mind-"

Noah blocked Daniel’s mouth before he could announce anything more to the world. He also took a deep breath to calm himself down.

"I am not making this suggestion lightly. The one who let that monster loose in the school was your stalker. We don’t know whether he is working alone or with more people, but I don’t think it’s safe to risk it today. I know it’s uncomfortable, but I doubt anyone would look in Alan’s room."

Noah pointed out, and Daniel finally looked like he understood why Noah had asked for this favor. But he did not look happy about it.

"Tsk, fine! Let’s say I agree with you. How are we going to get to Alan’s room? It’s in the esper wing-"

"I might have a way to get us in there. I just need to know whether you are in or not."

Noah asked, and Daniel gritted his teeth before he nodded. And with that, Noah decided to make a call.

He was going to have Ethan help sneak them in. He just...had a feeling that Ethan would agree to help them out.

Alan was not in a good mood, and anyone could tell with a single look.

But despite knowing this, the teachers decided to test his patience by trying to bury this situation. He could read their panic as they quickly pinned the blame on Noah.

"You should head back to your room now, Alan. We can take care of things here. This is not something a first-year like you should be concerned with."

One of the teachers gave him a smile and tried to send him away, but Alan refused with a smile of his own.

"It’s fine. I want to stay here. As you know, my father sent me to this academy to check how it is functioning. I wanted to come as well because I heard a lot of good things. But I cannot help but think that there have been a lot of incidents ever since the year started. Is that normal?"

The teachers flinched at his question, already knowing that the answer was no.

They had never had a student as pathetic as Noah, so they wanted to use him as a scapegoat this year. But somehow, these incidents kept involving both Alan and Daniel, and it was starting to become concerning for the teachers as well.

Based on power level, grade, and compatibility, both Alan and Daniel were well-suited to each other, and the teachers were pushing them together as well. But due to Noah’s interference, things just kept getting worse.

This was the perfect opportunity to get rid of him, but of course, things had to go wrong.

Now, not only did they have to correct what happened, but they also had to clear the air. But first, they needed to save the esper who caused this mess...

"Ah, that reminds me. What is going to happen to the esper who caused this? Don’t tell me that you are going to let him go unpunished this time as well? I overlooked it when he thrashed Noah and Daniel’s room and did not report it, but I might have to make a complaint this time."

The teachers cursed in their minds and already considered the culprit a lost cause. Alan knew that the culprit had messed with Daniel, his potential partner, and he was giving them all a warning.

Now, it was time for the teachers to choose a side.
