[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love

Chapter 127: Ch 127: Then Success of the experiment - Part 1

  • Next Chapter

Once Noah fell asleep, he kept sleeping for half a day more. And even when he protested, his body felt too tired to do much.

It was a direct result of the experiment he had gone through, but there was no way to tell Alan and Daniel the truth about his condition. So he decided to lie to them and tell them that he had come down with something.

The way the pair looked at Noah made him feel guilty. But he did not want to tell them that this had happened because he had agreed to become an experiment in order to investigate Ethan’s parents.

Moreover, he did not want Ethan to know that his parents were up to no good.

So Noah chose to lie down on the bed and pretend to be sick. And the news reached Ethan soon as well, who came to check up on him.

"Are you sure you are alright? You should get yourself checked out. I will give my in-house doctor a call and he’ll—"

"I am fine. I often get sick like this once I relax. I just need a little bit of rest. That is all."

Noah assured Ethan before he could call for a doctor. It made Ethan frown, but he lowered the phone and decided to take Noah’s words at face value.

"Well, if you say so, then I will choose to believe you. But I still don’t feel good about it."

The esper bit his lip to show his agitation before taking a step back. Noah breathed a sigh of relief once he was left all alone.

He was still concerned about Alan and Daniel and what Ethan’s mother was planning for them, but he fell asleep before he could warn them to be careful.

The next time he woke up, he had a very familiar person in the room, which made him panic. But he suppressed it with his supreme willpower and looked toward Ethan and his mother.

"—must have fallen sick. He says a doctor is not needed, but I am still worried... Noah, you are awake. My mother said she wanted to see you and make sure you are okay. Would you allow her to touch you?"

Ethan asked, and Noah’s first instinct was to say no. After all, why should he allow someone who had reduced him to this state to be able to touch him?

But his mind reminded him that only he knew that Ethan’s mother was the culprit behind his situation. And he had already decided to hide what she did to him.

Once he realised this, he let out a sigh and realised that he had no choice but to allow her to put her hands on him.

Ethan’s mother walked toward Noah without hurried steps, and Noah kept his eyes on her to make sure she did not make any sudden moves to startle him.

The more he looked at Ethan’s mother, the more he noticed that she was a good actress. Seeing her, no one could tell that she was behind his condition.

Especially when she made that worried face of hers.

"Hmm, can you allow me to take a look at you, my dear? I might not be a doctor by profession, but I did pass medical school and even did a medical internship. I can at least take a look at you."

Noah almost yelled that she had already done more than enough for him, but he ended up swallowing his words and allowed Ethan’s mother to have a closer look at him.

Her hand clutched his chin, and she turned his head around to have a nice and well-rounded look all over him.

Noah tried not to flinch as her fingers moved across his jaw, carefully examining his face and neck, but every touch made his body tense.

It was difficult to forget that these were the same hands that had pressed the buttons controlling the experiment that had left him in this state.

But Ethan’s mother seemed completely unaware of his discomfort. Or perhaps she was simply pretending not to notice it.

"Your complexion is a little pale, but that is to be expected after being sick."

Her fingers moved to his forehead, and Noah had to force himself to remain still. His hands itched to grab her neck and wring it as well.

But Ethan’s mother, who was unaware of his true emotions, continued to speak.

"There does not seem to be a fever."

She continued examining him as if she were genuinely concerned about his health.

Noah found it almost ridiculous. If he had not known what she had done to him, he might have believed her act.

"You really do look exhausted. Sleeping is the best remedy for someone like you. All this stress is not doing you any good."

She murmured loudly, causing Noah to let out a sigh.

"Yes..."

Noah answered quietly, careful not to give her any reason to become suspicious. But Ethan’s mother hummed before moving her hand toward his wrist, ignoring his discomfort.

Her hand brushed against his wrist, causing Noah to become defensive and let out hostile guiding waves to ward her off. And as a guide, she felt that reaction immediately.

"Did you feel that?"

Noah’s heart began pounding.

"No."

He answered almost immediately.

She stared at him for a few seconds before smiling.

"Perhaps I imagined it."

But her smile told Noah that even she knew she had not imagined what had just happened. She knew exactly what Noah had tried to do, and her smile was more than wide enough to tell him that she had succeeded in getting what she wanted.

Noah did not look at her after this because he felt disgusted. But he did not want to alert Ethan, so he kept his distance.

Thankfully, their vacation came to an end after a sudden message telling them that the academy was about to open the next day, so they made preparations to head back.

Hopefully, Noah would never have to come back here again.
