Chapter 126: Ch 126: Small help with Experiment - Part 3

’Forgive you? You want me to forgive you after you almost tore my body apart and then threatened me? I don’t want to forgive you at all.’

Noah wanted to yell those words out loud, but his body hurt too much to get the words out. In the end, he could only try to shake his head.

But Ethan’s mother gave Noah another smile before turning toward her husband.

"Of course, you were right. I should not have let my excitement get the better of me. But it is so nice to see that Ethan has forgiven me for this."

She said this as if nothing serious had happened, and Noah could only stare at her in disbelief. She had interpreted his actions in a way she liked.

His body was still trembling, and his hands were covered in small cuts from where he had repeatedly struck the glass. He wanted to leave this place, but his legs refused to cooperate.

Ethan’s father noticed Noah’s condition and sighed.

"Let him rest for now. We can check the results later."

His words made Ethan’s mother hesitate, but she eventually nodded.

"You are right. We need to observe him carefully anyway. The experiment may have caused some unexpected changes."

Unexpected changes? What unexpected changes?

Those words immediately caught Noah’s attention.

Even through his exhaustion, he forced himself to remain alert. If the experiment had actually changed something inside his body, then he needed to know what it was.

Ethan’s mother walked toward the control panel and began checking the readings.

"The energy levels are strange..."

She frowned as she looked at the results.

"This should not be possible."

Noah’s heart skipped a beat.

"What happened?"

He asked weakly, and Ethan’s mother immediately looked at him.

"There is an unusual amount of guiding energy accumulating inside you."

Her expression slowly changed from confusion to excitement.

"Far more than a Grade-B guide should ever be capable of producing."

Noah’s blood ran cold.

’They are going to find out.’

For the first time since entering the laboratory, Noah was more afraid of the results than the pain. He tried not to panic, but the excited expression on Ethan’s mother’s face turned into one of annoyance.

"However, it is far too chaotic to use right now. I tried to bring it out by having you guide me, but your body refused to guide me. I guess the experiment was a half-success?"

Noah tried his best not to show any emotion on his face. In fact, he did not even know whether he wanted to feel relieved or terrified of Ethan’s mother.

All he knew was that she was someone he did not want to be around.

"Oh my! Would you look at the time? Ethan will be awake soon, so I should let you go back before that. Can you stand? Or do you need me to help you out?"

Ethan’s mother tried to reach out toward him, but Noah immediately pulled back, almost as if he had been hurt, and shook his head.

"There is no need for this. I-I am fine!... I guess. I will make it back to the room on my own."

He assured Ethan’s mother, not wanting to be a part of her experiment any longer.

Ethan’s mother let out a sigh before she nodded and allowed Noah to leave with a disappointed look on her face.

"I wanted to let you stay here for much longer, but if you truly want to head back, then I cannot stop you either. But at least sit down for a while. Your legs are shaking."

Noah nodded and sat down for a few seconds to catch his breath.

As soon as he sat down, he saw an open file that listed the academy as well as the accident that happened there in detail.

The essence of the experiment was the same as what he had just gone through, just on a larger scale and targeting espers. And there would be another one that was scheduled for the week after next.

And just like that, Noah had actually gotten the information that he needed. But the cost for this had not been pleasant. His whole body was protesting against even moving.

But in the end, Noah knew he could not stay here and recover. The sun was starting to rise, and he needed to head back to his room and rest.

So, despite his body threatening to break down, he kept moving until he somehow reached his assigned room and collapsed on his bed.

He was about to go to sleep when he felt the bed dip and someone else threw their body beside him.

Noah did not have the courage to open his eyes and see who it was. But he knew that he needed to check anyway.

So he dared to take a peek, only to see Daniel looking back at him with a slightly annoyed look on his face.

"Where were you until now? I waited for you, but you won’t come back, but you..."

Daniel suddenly stopped speaking, and he had a pinched look on his face. It made Noah feel uncomfortable to let him be like this, but his body was protesting too much to do anything else.

But in the end, comforting Daniel won, and Noah decided to lie.

"I went out looking for the bathroom—"

"We have an attached one—"

"I forgot."

Daniel stared at Noah for a few seconds, clearly not convinced by his excuse.

"You forgot?"

"Yeah..."

Noah answered weakly, hoping Daniel would not ask any more questions. He was already exhausted, and he did not have the energy to come up with another excuse.

Daniel sighed and shook his head.

"You really are hopeless sometimes."

Noah did not respond and simply closed his eyes again. He could feel Daniel watching him, but thankfully, he did not continue questioning him.

"Just sleep for now. You look terrible."

Noah almost wanted to argue, but his body was too tired to care anymore.

"Okay..."

He mumbled before finally allowing himself to relax.

Daniel remained beside him for a while, seemingly making sure that Noah was actually asleep before he moved away.

Noah, however, was not able to fall asleep immediately.

His mind was still filled with everything he had discovered that night.

The laboratory, the experiment, the strange energy inside his body, and the upcoming experiment at the academy were all things he needed to think about.

But before he could organise his thoughts, exhaustion finally overwhelmed him.

’I’ll deal with everything after I wake up...’

With that final thought, Noah finally drifted into an uneasy sleep.
