World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 136: I Will Win Next Time
Upon entering the dungeon portal, Evan felt the familiar sensation of losing control over his body and falling into endless darkness.
A few seconds later, the strange feeling disappeared, and he regained control over his body.
At the same time, he noticed that they had appeared inside a lush green forest. Trees surrounded them, reaching heights of around twenty meters.
"As expected, since the name of this dungeon is the Animal Kingdom, it’s only natural that we would arrive in a forest upon entering," Kevin said while looking around.
[You have entered Rank Two Dungeon: Animal Kingdom.]
Everyone received the notification announcing their entry into the dungeon.
"I will scout our surroundings," Liam immediately said before his figure disappeared.
The Animal Kingdom Dungeon was a Rank Two Dungeon with ten floors. Since there were ten floors, Evan and the others would have to face two boss-rank monsters.
In a dungeon, a boss-rank monster could be found every five floors, just as Evan had encountered the Colossal Skeleton General on the fifth floor of the Skeleton Graveyard Dungeon.
As Liam disappeared, Evan also looked around and activated the Wind Detection ability of his Wind Monarch skill to scout their surroundings.
"Let’s move forward," Alice said, taking the lead without waiting for Liam to return.
Everyone moved forward carefully, but they weren’t overly worried, as they knew they wouldn’t encounter any Rank Two Magical Beasts on the first floor.
As for Rank One Magical Beasts, every member of their team was capable of facing several of them at the same time.
Just as they were walking, Liam suddenly appeared beside them.
"There are some Golden Monkey Magical Beasts up ahead."
"How many?" Alice asked calmly.
"There should be around twenty, and their levels are between 40 and 45."
"That should be easy," Kevin said after hearing Liam’s report.
"Let’s eliminate these small fries quickly and get to the higher floors as fast as possible," Erza said as she started walking forward.
Everyone nodded and followed her.
After a minute, they spotted the golden monkeys Liam had mentioned, sitting on the enormous trees.
The monkeys were around one meter tall and covered in steel-like golden fur.
"Their defense looks quite tough," Kevin said, raising an eyebrow when he saw their steel-like fur.
"So what if their defense is high?" Erza said, aiming her bow at one of the monkeys. "I can still kill them with a single arrow."
As soon as she finished speaking, she released the bowstring, and the arrow shot toward monster at lightning speed.
Swish!
The arrow reached the monster in an instant and pierced its chest.
"Kriik!"
A painful shriek escaped the monster’s mouth, and it immediately fell from the tree. As it fell, its chest began to turn black, indicating that the arrow was poisoned.
Thud!
The monster crashed to the ground with a loud thud, its body twitching for a few seconds before it stopped struggling.
[You have killed Rank One Golden Monkey, Level 42.]
A notification flashed before Erza’s eyes, causing the corners of her lips to curl upward. She looked at Kevin and raised an eyebrow, as if asking, ’Did you see that?’
Kevin’s eyes twitched slightly, and he felt his scalp tingle.
"That poison arrow of yours is quite creepy," He muttered under his breath, looking at the monster’s dead body as it gradually turned black.
"Kriik! Kriik! Kriik!"
The other golden monkeys were startled by the sudden attack and upon noticing Evan and the others, they let out angry screams.
"You guys can take care of them. I don’t think you will need me anyway," Kevin said, stepping back.
As a healer, his offensive abilities were limited, and he had no intention of fighting a bunch of enraged monkeys.
Liam’s eyes gleamed slightly when he saw the monkeys rushing toward them, and he took a step forward.
"Let’s see whose kill count will be the highest!" He shouted before his figure disappeared.
Suddenly, Liam appeared behind a monkey rushing toward Kevin and slashed at its neck with frightening speed.
The black dagger in Liam’s hand released a crimson light, and the monkey’s head was severed in a single, clean slash. Even the monster’s tough defense couldn’t stop his attack.
Alice also stepped back alongside Kevin and kept an eye on their surroundings. She didn’t participate in the hunt, choosing instead to remain alert in case anything unexpected happened.
Erza continued shooting arrows at the golden monkeys, and thanks to her incredible shooting speed, most of the monsters couldn’t get close to them.
Evan watched Liam and Erza kill the monsters one after another, and a faint green light flashed in his eyes.
Shackles of Wind!
As he activated Shackles of Wind through his Wind Monarch skill, the ten golden monkeys nearest to him suddenly stopped moving.
Wind Spears!
Before the monsters could understand what was happening, a wind spear formed above the head of each one of them.
The next second—
Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!
The wind spears shot forward at incredible speed, piercing through the skulls of all the monsters Evan had immobilized with Shackles of Wind.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
With a series of loud thuds, ten lifeless golden monkey corpses fell to the ground within just a second.
[You have killed Rank One Golden Monkey, Level 42.]
[You have killed Rank One Golden Monkey,Level 41.]
[You have killed Rank One Golden Monkey, Level 45.]
Evan glanced at the notifications on his status window and shook his head.
’As expected, with my current level, it’ll be difficult to obtain stat points from these monsters unless I hunt Rank Two Magical Beasts...’ He thought, sighing inwardly.
After Evan killed ten monsters, only five golden monkeys remained. He didn’t attack again, leaving the rest to Erza and Liam.
Evan walked toward the corpses of the monsters he had killed and began searching for cores. After checking all ten bodies, he found only three Rank One cores.
’I was hoping to get at least five cores...’ He shook his head, remembering that Alice and the others had told him that most monsters in this dungeon dropped a core.
By the time Evan finished collecting the cores, Liam and Erza had also eliminated the remaining five monsters.
There had been twenty golden monkeys in total. Evan had killed ten, Erza had killed six, and Liam had taken care of the remaining four.
Seeing Liam return, Evan smiled slightly.
"Looks like my kill count is the highest."
Liam’s mouth twitched at Evan’s teasing expression, and he spoke in a low voice.
"I-I will win next time."
"Is that so..." Evan chuckled and said nothing more.
