The world hummed and quivered. The moment Dark Matter connected with the abomination’s battered body, it expanded and rapidly consumed the enormous monster.

The first time Leon had used it as a mere Level 25 Evolver, it had taken the head of a Tier One wyvern. Now that he was Level 50, it was even more exaggerated.

The abomination didn’t explode. Its body was simply eaten away until the entire sphere of darkness consumed it. Then, the sphere exploded.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!

The whole of Staten Island shook, and the river separating it from Bayonne surged. Several sea mutated beasts were flushed to the surface from the shockwave, left on the dry land and clumsily flopping around to get back to their natural habitat.

Thankfully, Selene and the others had distanced themselves enough. Leon had also escaped quickly, reappearing in the place where they had kept Rune and dragging it with him. Still, the shockwaves reached everyone.

The buses tilted despite carrying people, but thankfully, they didn’t fall to the side. The Titanbreaker Legion quickly got out and assembled themselves.

Miguel frowned, rubbing his chin. ’They should return in five minutes. If they don’t...’

Meanwhile, Selene and the others finally sighed in relief after the shockwave settled.

"What the hell was that?" Reymond gasped, patting his chest.

He was sweating profusely, feeling like he had just escaped from the clutches of death.

"Leon’s nuke," She said flatly, then watched him emerge from her shadow. "This still feels a little invasive."

Leon shrugged, ignoring her complaints. Instead, he turned to the others with a smile. "Nice to see you guys again."

His gaze landed on Reymond. "Except you, of course."

The brown-haired guy shook his head. "Yeah, yeah. I know."

Cassie quietly approached him.

"Are you alright, Boss?" She asked, sounding unnaturally soft.

Len shivered. "Um... yeah. I am. Thank you."

He smiled and patted her head. Cassie smiled under the mask and stepped forward to hug him gently.

Leon’s smile turned stiff, but he didn’t push her away. He simply continued patting her head and turned to look at Gwen.

"Looks like there’s a lot we have to catch up on."

The young lady turned to him with a smile and nodded. "You’re right. Let’s get back to other’s first."

Meow!

Realizing it was being ignored, the cat meowed and pulled on Leon’s hair. He winced a little, then said, "Oh, and guys, this is Rune. Say hello to Rune."

The others finally paid attention to the cat. Although it didn’t look like a powerful mutated beast, it was definitely more than an ordinary cat.

Looking at the smiles on their faces, he warned. "You should be careful, though. I have a feeling that it’s actually an old pervert reincarnat—"

Selene pressed a finger to his lips, shutting him up. She took the cat from him and carried it.

"Don’t pollute its reputation with your wild speculations."

Leon sighed. "Why won’t she believe me...?"

Reymond blinked at their interaction, momentarily confused. Had they grown closer?

Meanwhile, Gwen smiled mysteriously. "Alright. Let’s get back to the others and confirm that they haven’t been blown off the island."

They quickly made their way back the the place where the buses had been parked, and they were met with the sight of every Titanbreaker warrior standing on guard.

The moment the warriors saw Leon, they cheered.

"IT’S THE COMMANDER!!!"

"UWOOOOOOOOHHH!!!"

Their loud voices rolled across the island and the river behind them, even causing Leon’s ears to ring.

Still, he wasn’t displeased. With a calm expression, he gazed at them. No one was missing, so he felt relieved.

"You’re all good, I see."

They dropped to one knee, fists hitting their breastplates.

"WELCOME BACK, COMMANDER!"

Leon gave a curt nod. "Rise."

As they did, he turned to Miguel and Fel.

"Boss!"

The blonde guy shouted, walking over to him and enveloping him in a tight hug. Leon’s lips twitched.

"Alright, that’s enough. Get off me."

Miguel shook his head. "Boss... I have several sleepless nights because of you..."

Leon shivered and immediately backed away. "Let’s be careful with the way we think of each other... alright?"

Miguel wiped his crocodile tears and nodded.

Clicking his tongue, Leon hugged Fel briefly, then looked around again. "You guys were returning already? It has only been about a month."

Gwen shook her head. "A year, actually."

Leon and Selene froze, turning to her in shock and surprise.

"Wait what? A year?" They echoed, shooting glares at each other before turning back to Gwen.

The young lady chuckled and shook her head. "Nope. I was just kidding. It has only been a month. Makes me wonder where you went to, though."

Selene stiffened briefly, realizing that it had become plainly obvious from her reaction that she had been with Leon the entire time.

No one said anything about it, so Leon simply replied to Gwen.

"We’ll talk about that later. What happened while we were away, though?"

Gwen’s expression darkened. "You remember that other camp Agnus told us about? They’re harassing Eternal Night City."

Leon’s expression turned cold. "They’re doing what?"

Gwen simply nodded, not bothering to repeat herself. She knew he had heard her correctly anyway.

He frowned. "Are they that strong?"

Gwen shook her head. "I don’t know. In order not to have me overly worried, Marie wouldn’t share the details. She simply says she’s handling it."

Leon sighed, then rubbed his eyes. "Let’s get going. Now."

He took a step forward, then froze. "Wait. My weapon!"

He quietly sank into the shadows, teleporting twice before he reached the wreckage. He wasn’t sure that anything could survive the explosion, but he still hoped his weapon did.

Arriving at the center of the crater, he looked around. The parasite abomination was gone, totally erased from existence.

Only a green soul crystal and one treasure cube were left on the ground. Leon’s eyes glistened as he picked up the crystal.

He smiled and added it to his collection of Tier Three soul crystals. Then, he took the treasure cube and kept it too. Depending on what it was, he could hand it over to Selene too.

He began searching for his spear, even digging the ground in hopes of finding it. He did, but it wasn’t in perfect condition.

The spear had broken into three pieces, and he smiled bitterly.

The Titanbreaker Spear had finally met its end.
