Chapter 517 -372: World Correction Ritual (2)

The second year was the most prone to error, as this was an ancient ritual.

Ancient rituals were a major category of rituals. This type had no tier divisions, the choice of materials was extremely flexible, and there were no fixed templates. Everything had to be planned and calculated from scratch.

The advantage was that they weren’t limited by Power Level or even class. Even a mortal could perform one, as long as they fully grasped the ritual’s principles and had the necessary materials.

The downside, however, was the extreme difficulty. For the vast majority of ancient rituals, the idea that a mortal could perform one was purely theoretical.

Therefore, as long as no major problems arose after the first year of operation, a casual glance would suffice for the next nine. You wouldn’t even have to come yourself; sending a Servant Demon would be enough.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t be called a routine inspection.

The final year was important because the ritual would be reaching its conclusion. The Little World was about to merge with the Real World, and final adjustments were needed to ensure it *merged* with the Real World, not *smashed* into it!

The difference between the two was vast. The former would bring a boon, while the latter would bring retribution.

Furthermore, one had to be present at the ritual site to select the type of feedback to receive. Otherwise, if you simply waited for the world’s consciousness to provide it automatically…

…you had no choice in the matter. You had to take what you were given.

Of course, while the ritual was difficult, it was nothing special for Isaac. The one he had set up was quite robust. Its error tolerance was still as high as one hundred and nineteen percent, with only one percent having been consumed—well within the bounds of routine attrition.

That’s right. For this ritual, Isaac hadn’t gone overboard stacking the error tolerance as he usually did. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to; the cost was simply too high. It was prohibitively expensive.

Forget one thousand percent; even reaching two hundred percent would have been a crippling loss.

So, after inspecting the ritual, Isaac prepared to head back. His work in this world was more or less finished, and there was no reason to linger. Besides, it would be more convenient to tutor Angel back home. That one’s foundations…

It couldn’t be called bad. She knew quite a lot, but her knowledge lacked a systematic structure and sufficient depth. For many fundamental concepts, her understanding was only surface-level; as for anything deeper…

…there was nothing.

This was normal. After all, she’d had no one to guide her. Her extremely high life level granted her a powerful memory, which meant she memorized everything on the first pass and rarely felt the impulse to delve deeper.

But this was only temporary. Angel’s attitude toward learning was far better than Lorna’s. Building a proper foundation would be a quick process.

However, just as Isaac turned to leave, Philo called out to him.

“What is it?” Isaac turned back, looking at Philo in confusion. ‘Hasn’t she been rather cold to me all these years?’

Philo glanced at Angel, who stood beside Isaac, looking at her with equal confusion. Thinking of the Terra Kingdom’s increasingly dire situation, she sighed inwardly, steeled her resolve, and finally spoke. “I’ve encountered some difficulties in my research. Could you offer me some guidance?”

After she spoke, Philo looked at Isaac with composure.

Her past self, the proud woman she used to be, would never have been able to say such a thing. But now, her pride had long since been crushed to dust by Isaac. She could now ask him for guidance without reservation. Her earlier hesitation was merely due to her apprehension about his identity as a Mad Witch.

‘Hmm… compared to Isaac, Philo didn’t consider herself a Mad Witch at all. She felt she was a law-abiding citizen.’

“Guidance?” Isaac stroked his chin, a look of interest on his face. Though he wasn’t optimistic about Philo’s “three-in-one” path, he hadn’t had much contact with other Mad Witches. Perhaps he could glean some inspiration from her for his little Mad Witch tutorials.

“No problem. As it happens, I’d like to see this research that a Demigod has placed such high hopes in.” Isaac nodded in agreement. ‘It’s only guidance, after all. It won’t have much of an impact on my plans.’

Seeing Isaac agree, Philo smiled, nodded, and led the way, flying toward her laboratory.

This was another reason Isaac didn’t want to stay in this world. During the world-correction ritual, most Space Movement Spells were nullified, and strong spatial fluctuations could interfere with the rite itself. For Isaac, who was accustomed to using Space Magic for travel, this was a major inconvenience.

Fortunately, even without Space Magic, Isaac’s flying speed was still fast. Soon, the three of them arrived at Philo’s laboratory.

“Currently, there’s no problem fusing the Faith of a Deity and a Wizard. The issue is with the Knight’s Faith. A Knight’s Faith can be fused with either of the other two individually, but it can’t be fused with both at the same time. I’ve identified the problem: I’m not a Knight, so my control over the relevant Power of Faith is insufficient. How do I solve this?”

In the lab, Isaac flipped through Philo’s research notes while listening to her questions and proposed solutions, occasionally nodding or raising an eyebrow.

‘To be honest, the progress on this experiment was beyond his expectations. He could see why both the late Emperor and that ailing Demigod from the Terra Kingdom had placed all their bets on her.’

‘At this point, the only remaining hurdle for the entire project was the Knight’s Faith. If she could overcome it, this research would qualify Philo to break through the barrier between Tier Four and Tier Five. And after advancing to Tier Five, her power level wouldn’t be low, either.’
