Chapter 503: Chapter 363: Isaac: Foolish Witches~

With a thought, Isaac dismissed the Star Beast Summoning. Immediately after, just as the records on Star Mages described, a miniature energy space appeared within his perception. The Star Beast was now inside that space, its entire being seemingly frozen in time.

’This is another point worthy of research.’

’This is just how Heroic Feats are, I suppose.’

Though not on the level of a Great Creation, its emergence still provided a plethora of new research avenues.

After stowing away the Star Beast, Isaac didn’t turn to leave. He stood his ground and began to meditate, closing his eyes. The Star Beast Summoning he’d just used was merely the original, exclusive ability of Star Mages. But now that he had perfected their path, new exclusive abilities were bound to awaken over time.

It was just like how Legendary Mages could both absorb a special Power of Faith and obtain Magic from stories.

After a moment of Meditation, Isaac slowly opened his eyes and whispered, "So this is what it means to be a Star Mage..."

The moment his voice fell, the heavens seemed to invert. Despite being indoors, a starry sky appeared when he looked up. Isaac gazed at this peculiar starscape as streaks of light, like shooting stars, flashed through his eyes.

FWOOM!

The next moment, a blue Flame ignited out of thin air in front of Isaac. His right hand swiped gently through the air, creating faint ripples in Space as he pulled a longsword from Phase Space. He then tossed it into the blue Flame.

Something magical happened. The blue Flame seemed to have no heat, yet the instant it touched the longsword, it dissolved the blade completely!

The blue Flame then flickered gently before lunging toward Isaac and merging into his body.

At the same time, a Magic Technique surfaced in his mind—Star Realm Armament: Sword.

Star Realm Armament was an ability that went against a Wizard’s intuition. It could dissolve any weapon, converting it into a Technique. A Star Mage could then reproduce the weapon at any time in the form of Magic.

The ability for a ranged Caster to "project" melee weapons was a classic "mage playing warrior" trope. To others, and even to most Star Mages themselves, it seemed utterly bizarre and useless.

But Isaac disagreed. He even believed that Star Realm Armament was the true signature ability of a Star Mage!

Not Star Beast Summoning, despite its immense combat power.

The reason was simple: Star Realm Armament could provide Star Mages with a virtually endless supply of Magic!

Even if this Magic was rather homogenous.

But as long as they had different weapons, Star Mages could perpetually obtain new Magic and new Knowledge. *That* was the kind of ability a Wizard profession ought to have.

As for Star Beast Summoning, that was merely an ability befitting an Extraordinary Profession, not noble enough to be classified as an ability for Casters.

Therefore, when Isaac discovered that the Star Mage’s ability was Star Realm Armament, he had even considered adding the future optimization of the Star Mage path to his research agenda.

Because in this regard, even the more mature paths of the Legendary Mage and the Arcanist were slightly inferior to that of the Star Mage.

Legendary Mages could also obtain Magic from a [Legend], but the conditions were quite demanding. Its advantage, however, was its versatility; the Magic acquired wasn’t as monolithic as a Star Mage’s.

The Arcanist was in a more pitiful state by comparison. It had no ability to create Magic from nothing. However, its greatest advantage was its remarkably complete and highly universal system of Knowledge, so it didn’t truly need such an ability anyway.

’But not needing it doesn’t mean you don’t want it!’

’After all, it represents an endless stream of Knowledge. Even if most of it is redundant, it doesn’t matter. It’s practically free, anyway.’

More importantly, after experiencing it firsthand, Isaac discovered another of this thing’s crucial functions—a limited version of the [Analysis] Authority!

Upon acquiring the ability, Isaac discovered that along with the Magic Technique, he also received data on the sword’s general structure, its forging process, and its material properties...

"Trace on!"

Extending his right hand, Isaac put on an air and uttered the incantation. An azure magical radiance flashed, and a longsword appeared in his hand. He gave it a couple of casual swings, toyed with it for a moment, then with another wave, the longsword dissolved into motes of Magic Power.

’Though it brought plenty of surprises, it’s a shame this ability is still destined for the back shelf...’

’For me, it’s even less useful than a Star Beast...’

’The Star Beast at least gave me several new research projects. But this? What does this give me?’

’Its underlying principles are certainly worth studying, but it’s obvious this thing operates on an extremely High Level.’

The Magic World is full of inexplicable "magical black boxes." By relying on these black boxes, even Low Level Wizards can possess all sorts of unbelievable abilities.

’Take the Legendary Mage’s ability to obtain Magic from a [Legend], for example. I’ve heard there’s an advanced version that allows one to extract Magic even from a [Legend] that isn’t their own!’

But after all this time, Isaac still hadn’t the faintest clue how it worked. The essence of such an ability was simply beyond the comprehension of a mere Low-tier Mage.

’At Tier One, I thought a Tier Three could figure it out. At Tier Three, I thought a Tier Four could. But now that I’m Tier Four...’

’I suspect you’d have to be Tier Six to even begin to grasp it!’

’As for it being impossible... I don’t think so. Legendary Mages can already obtain Magic from a [Legend]. Even if the process is a complete black box, the pathway exists. As long as I’m powerful enough, I’ll naturally be able to bypass—or rather, unlock—that black box.’
