Wizard: I Add Points and Hunt Monsters
Chapter 548 - 219: This is Fraud~
"Chief?"
"It’s good news. He’s signed the contract. It was only a codename, but with the might of the God of Contract, this contract of equals is already in effect."
As he spoke, Ragnar opened the letter and began to read.
After a quick scan, his eyes settled on the section describing the flaw related to ’spirit concussion’ and its solution. The smile on his face slowly vanished.
"What’s wrong, Ragnar?" Rosa, the beautiful Witch at his side, asked when she saw his expression change.
"The third flaw in the Magic Runes... Here it is."
Ragnar placed the letter on the conference table and pushed it toward Rosa. "Everyone, take a look," he said.
Rosa, Vice Chairman of the Spiritual Mystery School, picked up the letter. Her brow furrowed as she scanned it. "It’s not just one flaw, but three hidden ones combined... Ragnar, given my level of skill in runology, this means the flaws are likely different for each type of Magic."
"That’s right."
"Hey, can you at least wait until the rest of us have read it?" a middle-aged Wizard with a wild mane of red hair said impatiently.
"Patience," Rosa said, passing the letter along.
Once all the Wizards had read the letter, Ragnar tapped the table. "This is our next priority. We need to focus on identifying the Magic Runes that match the description of these flaws. As for the others..."
He paused, then pointed to the letter. "According to His Excellency Faceless, he can provide assistance, but we would need to give him the Magic Runes."
"Oh? And what if it involves the Magic at the core of our legacy? Are you going to give him that, too?" Rosa asked, pursing her lips.
"Let’s try to find them ourselves first. If that doesn’t work, we’ll consider his offer," Ragnar said thoughtfully. "In any case, time is of the essence. Everyone, get to it. And while you’re at it, start thinking about the fourth flaw we’ll need Faceless to identify."
"That will be difficult. If he hadn’t pointed out the issues, with our level of skill in runology, we might not have found even one of these flaws after a year of research..."
"Vera Mage, this will require all of us to work together."
Ragnar said in a low, serious voice, "As we’ve already discussed, our main objective for the next six months is to increase the power of the Wizards in every tower. This includes, but is not limited to, fixing the flaws in our Magic Runes and helping our Wizards advance in level."
"If necessary... I will open those ruins and send in some of our Great Mages. Hopefully, it will shorten the time they need to reach the legendary rank."
"Sigh."
Hearing this, several of the older, more wizened Wizards sighed. "Ragnar, this is too passive. Have you considered finding the ones hiding in the shadows directly?"
"Mentor, I will find a way to contact the four great True God Churches and the Eternal Life Association. I’m hoping they have some intelligence on our enemies..."
Ragnar’s expression became serious again. "Until then, all of you, go and make your preparations."
"I suppose we have no other choice..."
As he finished speaking, the Wizards in the conference room rose and departed, not forgetting to use Magic to make a copy of the letter’s contents before they left.
When the conference room had fallen silent, only Ragnar and Rosa remained, sitting quietly in their seats.
"I can’t imagine what level of skill that mysterious Faceless Mage possesses in runology, to be able to find so many flaws in our Magic Runes."
Rosa frowned and looked at Ragnar. "Do you think it’s possible he’s one of... them?"
"Them?"
Ragnar mulled it over for a few seconds before shaking his head. "Impossible. I’m also very curious how he discovered all this, but judging by the outcome, if he were one of them, they could have just attacked us directly with their overwhelming power."
"That’s true... So what’s next? As for the legendary-rank Destiny Barrier Spell he requested, who do you plan on assigning to it?"
"I’ll handle it myself."
"Oh? But that’s a spell beyond the legendary rank."
"We will need his help again in the future." Ragnar took out the Space Ring. At some point, an exquisite staff had appeared in his other hand. "And besides, I want to take a look at his path of destiny. Perhaps..."
"Is that so?" Rosa chuckled. "Then do it here. To be honest, I’m quite curious myself."
"Mm."
As he spoke, Ragnar waved his staff, drawing a complex Rune Array in mid-air. He tossed the Space Ring into the heart of the Array, and his Wizard Robe stirred without a sound.
"Tuzha, Miska, Lei, Te!"
He needed to follow the trace of Origin Power on the Space Ring to locate Faceless’s position within the River of Destiny before he could proceed with the spell.
As Ragnar chanted the incantation, the silvery-white light of the Rune Array flared, engulfing the Space Ring. Unseen by either of them, it also concealed a faint, illusory figure that had materialized over the weak trace of Origin Power.
Then, the image of a compass materialized in his eyes. Its golden face was etched with countless complex patterns that writhed and shifted like living things. At its center was a golden, spoon-shaped pointer. The handle of the pointer slowly rotated, moving like the hand of a clock along the patterns, forming one bizarre configuration after another on the compass’s face.
In the next instant, Ragnar vanished from the tower and reappeared within a void.
Before him, there was nothing but the golden compass and a great river shimmering with countless points of starlight.
The River of Destiny seemed to stretch forth from an endless nothingness, its myriad stars glittering brightly and casting his face in a silvery-white glow.
"Na, Rui, Cuo..."
Ragnar was long accustomed to this sight. He raised his staff and lightly tapped the center of the compass. The Space Ring had somehow appeared within the spoon-shaped pointer.
As he did so, the pointer’s handle began to spin, slowly at first, then faster and faster until it blurred into a golden ring. Specks of golden light burst from it, falling into the nearby River of Destiny.
