Chapter 311: Chapter 312: The Monster Created by a Dull Life

"What’s your Talent?"

The Captain asked, looking at Andre.

"Thunder," Andre answered seriously.

"Thunder? But a lot of the Powers you just mentioned have little to do with your Talent!"

The Captain took a deep breath, looking at Andre as if he had a deep-seated grudge.

"Yes. Back then, I was studying under Professor Radar. Professor Radar told me that Demon Patterns are the foundation of all Witchcraft."

"So, I studied the entire Demon Pattern Encyclopedia, and in the process, I mastered all the Powers represented by those Demon Patterns."

Andre looked at the Captain, nodded, and explained how he had started his studies.

"The Demon Pattern Encyclopedia... you... you mastered all of it?!"

When Andre said this, the Dean’s face immediately darkened.

The Captain broke out in a cold sweat, staring at Andre.

"A monster. A complete and utter monster. An incomprehensible monster."

The Captain squeezed the words through his teeth as he looked at Andre.

While Demon Patterns are indeed the foundation of all Witchcraft and the cornerstone of the Wizard World, very few people would ever read through the entire Demon Pattern Encyclopedia.

This is because there are simply too many Demon Patterns. Every day, every hour, every minute, every second, new Demon Patterns are discovered and created.

As a result, the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia is updated frequently.

Because it’s constantly being updated, few people would bother to study such a basic, ever-changing text from cover to cover. Forget studying it—very few could even manage to read through it once.

Normally, Wizards only select Demon Patterns that align with their own Talents. Or, when they need to practice a specific type of Witchcraft, they might pull out the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia to look something up.

But now, Andre was saying he had read through the entire Demon Pattern Encyclopedia. If that didn’t make him a monster, what did?

"Did you read through every Demon Pattern Encyclopedia, or did you just read through it selectively?"

the Dean asked Andre, his expression grave.

The Dean asked this because many Wizards had claimed to have read through the entire Demon Pattern Encyclopedia before.

But their definition of "reading through it" was different from Andre’s.

Those Wizards would read it through once and memorize some of the major Demon Patterns. Andre’s version, however, was likely not the same...

"No. I study according to my own Realm. Whenever I reach a new Realm, I seek out and study the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia corresponding to that Realm."

"Right now, I’ve finished one-third of the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia for Level 2 Wizards."

Andre shook his head and explained his learning method to the Dean.

After Andre said this, both the Dean and the Captain stared at him, dumbfounded.

"Do you know how many Demon Patterns are in the encyclopedias you’ve read?"

The Dean asked, trying to calm himself.

Andre nodded, then rattled off the number of Demon Patterns he had studied.

"At the initial Wizard Apprentice stage, there are a total of 1,470,000 Demon Patterns."

"Among these, basic Demon Patterns only account for one-third, and many of the patterns are somewhat repetitive."

"The reason for the repetition is that they were discovered in different worlds."

"To help Wizards better understand these different worlds, all of these Demon Patterns were included in the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia."

"At the High Level Wizard Apprentice stage, there are a total of 1,284,069 Demon Patterns, of which 100,000 are basic Demon Patterns."

"At the Level 1 Wizard stage, there are 496,726 Demon Patterns, with only 30,000 of them being basic Demon Patterns."

"At the Level 2 Wizard stage, there are 279,120 Demon Patterns, with 20,000 of them being basic Demon Patterns."

"The so-called basic Demon Patterns are those that can mobilize Magic Power to form Witchcraft without being restricted by any specific world."

Andre looked at the Dean and the Captain and recited the number of Demon Patterns he had seen and studied.

The moment Andre finished his recitation, the Captain felt like finding a Stone to bash his own head in.

Andre’s mastery and understanding of Demon Patterns were immeasurably superior to his own!

"No wonder... no wonder you can master so many types of Power and have such a profound understanding of space and time!"

The Dean’s lips were dry. He looked at Andre and spoke dejectedly.

After mastering so many Demon Patterns, as long as your brain didn’t explode and you weren’t a complete idiot, you’d be a monster.

The reason for this was that Demon Runes are the source of power for the vast majority of Wizards.

"It’s not that big of a deal. I was just reading the version of the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia from the Senbai Branch, which hasn’t been updated in over 300 years."

"I haven’t seen the latest version yet. Otherwise, I would have probably mastered even more Demon Patterns."

Andre looked at the Dean and shrugged.

After enrolling in the academy, reading—reading all sorts of books—took up the vast majority of his time.

Not to mention, from the beginning of the expedition until now, whenever they were sailing through the Star Realm, he was on the Morning Sky, constantly reading.

This had been going on for over twenty years—Andre reading day and night without rest.

During those years in the Multi-Body World, aside from going out to gather intelligence and analyze the world’s races, he was also on the Morning Sky, reading nonstop.

In those days, his life consisted of only two things: reading, and when he got tired of reading, brewing a Potion to dispel the fatigue so he could continue reading.

It was these books, along with the Demon Pattern Encyclopedia, that laid his incredibly solid foundation.

"You... you!" The Captain looked at Andre and gave him a big thumbs-up.

He could just imagine how Andre had forged himself into a monster, step by step. The process was hidden within all those books he’d read.

"From the start of the expedition until now, apart from the missions the academy required, don’t tell me you’ve just been reading this whole time?"

The Dean, recalling something, looked at Andre and asked.

Andre nodded without the slightest hesitation.

"Well, that explains it!"

The Dean looked at Andre, sudden understanding dawning on him.

He remembered it clearly. To cross space from the White Sea Wizard World Group to their current World Group, the First Expeditionary Corps had spent a full 18 years on the journey.

Reading nonstop for 18 years... that kind of perseverance was something 99.99% of the people in the Wizard World probably lacked.

Books may be the ladder to Truth, but Truth is not always interesting.

Even if it piques one’s interest for a while, being immersed in Truth for too long can lead to irritation and exhaustion, both mental and physical.

And yet Andre had been reading for a full 18 years. Eighteen years! What kind of concept was that?

"Dean, I remember he also spent two years traveling from the Multi-Body World to the Cosmic Sea World."

the Captain said quietly to the Dean.

And that one sentence nearly made the Dean break down.
