Wizard: Grinding to Lord of Truth
Chapter 307 - 308: All Worldly Affairs Are for Profit
Chapter 307: Chapter 308: All Worldly Affairs Are for Profit
"How did you come up with a method like this for the Institute to conquer this world?"
The Dean carefully took the phantom of the Banner of Dusk from Andre, holding it in his hands to observe it.
It was the Captain who was asking, his eyes fixed on Andre.
"Originally, this matter had nothing to do with me, and I had no desire to solve it."
"But who was it that forced the title of Child of the World on me?"
"On top of that, my senior, Farrete, sent a query to the mothership asking if I was the Child of the World."
"And as a result, you all just pushed the responsibility for this whole thing onto me."
"Once it was my problem, what could I do?"
"On one hand, you have the complex web of interests within the Institute. On the other, you have the Racial Alliance Army that the Child of the World is obligated to protect."
"Since I have deep ties to both sides, I decided to just treat them equally!"
The moment Andre finished speaking, a bolt of lightning flashed across the sky.
It was as if the world consciousness was expressing its displeasure.
"Don’t twist your words. When Farrete relayed the message to the mothership, it said that you claimed you would end this war in your name."
The Captain looked at Andre, immediately pointing out the problem with his statement.
"Yes, that is what I said. But I meant for the battle between the fleet led by my senior and that specific Racial Alliance Army to end."
"Not for me to have to solve all the problems."
Andre looked at the Captain, correcting his words.
"So, you’re saying Farrete must not have relayed the message clearly at the time, is that right?"
The Dean glanced at Andre, deftly turning the conversation toward Farrete.
Farrete, who was not far off, felt as if an arrow had pierced his heart when he heard the Dean’s words.
"More or less!"
Andre nodded. With that nod, Farrete felt as if another arrow had been shot, this time right through his forehead.
"But aren’t you with Radak? How did you get involved with Farrete’s lineage?"
The Dean looked at the Power of Dusk in his hand, continuously trying to analyze its structure.
"Back when I first entered the Senbai Branch, I became a disciple of Vice Dean Krell."
"At the time, Vice Dean Krell told me to build a solid foundation so I could be more effective during the expedition."
"So, he handed me over to Teacher Radak, letting Teacher Radak instruct me and help me build that foundation."
"While I was studying under Teacher Radak, Teacher Krell went to the Main Institute to discuss the number of people the branch would contribute to the expedition."
"And so, before I became an Official Wizard, I had two teachers."
Andre looked at the Dean and explained the circumstances of how he came to study under both Teacher Krell and Teacher Radak.
"So, does that mean you chose Radak’s side after you became an Official Wizard?"
The Dean nodded, looking at Andre as he continued to question him.
"No, I didn’t choose either teacher. It’s just that for now, Teacher Radak’s path is more suitable for me, so my relationship with him is a bit closer."
Andre looked at the Dean and the Captain and recounted the things he had experienced at the Senbai Branch.
As Andre spoke, dark lines formed on the Dean’s forehead, while the Captain’s face twisted in revulsion.
He was friends with Krell’s teacher, Lorne, and couldn’t believe there were such bastards among his student’s followers.
Just because they had entered the same Secret Realm, they had marked Andre as a suspect and even tailed him constantly.
It got to the point where Andre, still a Wizard Apprentice, had to desperately study Pharmacy to concoct a do-or-die Potion just to make them give up on following him.
"No wonder Munger told me a few things about you as well."
After a long moment, the Dean looked at Andre and spoke.
"Munger? What did Senior Uncle Munger say?"
Andre looked at the Dean, somewhat confused.
’He hadn’t known Munger for long. Although he was the disciple of his teacher’s senior, their actual relationship wasn’t close at all. Why would Munger speak to the Dean on his behalf?’
At that moment, Andre was quite curious about what Munger might have said.
"Since you became the Child of the World, Munger planned to use your status to pacify the races of this world one by one."
"By doing so, you would have established a great merit that no one could ignore during the Institute’s conquest of this world."
"Once your merit was confirmed, his lineage would use this great achievement, mobilize their network, and fight for scarce resources and access to precious Secret Realms for you within the Institute, thereby pulling you closer to them."
"After all, you never completely severed your ties with their lineage!"
The Dean didn’t mince words, looking directly at Andre as he revealed the machinations Munger had planned for him.
"I see! And here I was thinking Munger had been bad-mouthing me to you!"
Andre nodded as he heard this.
"You can’t blame him for it!"
The Dean said, looking at Andre.
"Who told you to become the Child of the World of the Cosmic Sea World?"
"You can communicate with the world consciousness, grasp the entire situation within the Cosmic Sea World, and know the distribution of all its internal resources."
"As long as they grow closer to you, a portion of those resources will fall into the hands of their lineage through your words."
"You could say that the relationship between you and their lineage is one of mutual benefit."
The Dean said, looking at Andre.
"I see. That’s not surprising."
Andre nodded, seemingly unconcerned about the matter.
"You don’t seem to be repulsed by this sort of thing?"
The Captain looked at Andre. In the Captain’s eyes, Andre was hardly different from a newborn child in terms of age.
To face the schemes of others with such composure was astonishing.
If it were anyone else of Andre’s age, they might not have flown into a rage over such a scheme.
But they would have definitely roared and screamed. Andre, however, had no reaction at all.
Such a mentality was exceedingly rare among Andre’s peers.
"Everything in the world is driven by profit."
"Even the relationship between birth parents and their children is no different."
"It’s not uncommon for children to be married off in exchange for some meager benefits."
"Besides, Munger hasn’t done anything to harm me."
"I have no reason to be angry about this."
Andre said, looking at the Captain.
"Monster... you really are a monster. Anyone else would have run off to question him after hearing this. But you..."
After hearing Andre’s words, the Captain couldn’t hold back. He looked at Andre and directly spat out the word "monster."
But after the word "monster" left his lips, the Captain’s expression changed slightly.
That word was a bit too harsh.
But Andre’s expression didn’t change in the slightest.
This couldn’t help but make the Captain marvel at Andre’s mental fortitude. It was so good it was scary, so good it was terrifying.
"If he didn’t have this kind of mentality, why do you think I would have issued that order back then?"
The Dean remarked abruptly to the Captain.
