Chapter 1455: Chapter 1455: I Care About You More Than I Imagined

Listening to him say these words, Scarlett Yates felt uneasy. She didn’t want to think of the worst, but the moment she considered that Matthew Saxon might really have a serious illness, she felt suppressed and uncomfortable.

"Matthew Saxon, stop overthinking things. What serious illness could you have? You’ve always been perfectly healthy."

"A lot of things are unforeseeable, no one can guarantee they’ll be free from illness and pain all their life." He sighed again, seemingly very melancholic.

Scarlett Yates felt stifled hearing this: "Thinking too much here is pointless, we’ll find out once we get to the hospital."

"Yeah, I know." Matthew Saxon smiled bitterly. "I was just saying it casually, Scarlett, can I ask you a question now?"

Leaving the hotel, the valet brought over Matthew Saxon’s understated Porsche.

Once the valet handed him the keys, Matthew Saxon tossed them in his hand and then turned around, his profound eyes focused on Scarlett Yates as he seriously asked, "After what happened last night, did you ever consider divorcing me?"

Suddenly, this question came to mind.

Actually, asking this now seemed somewhat meaningless.

Scarlett Yates’ attitude toward him was clear; she still cared about him, worried for him, so there was no need for him to worry about divorce at all.

Still, he wanted to know her answer.

She hesitated and asked, "Do you really want to know?"

Matthew Saxon nodded, "Yes, I want to know."

Scarlett Yates lowered her head slightly, buried in thought for a moment, then softly said, "I don’t know. Maybe there was a fleeting moment when such a thought crossed my mind."

"And later? What did you think afterward?" He questioned anxiously.

"Later... I don’t know, I didn’t really think about it."

If he really slept with that woman, perhaps she truly wouldn’t be able to forgive him.

As they were about to get in the car, Matthew Saxon suddenly said to her, "Such things won’t happen again in the future. Actually, I don’t like that woman at all. When she leaned against me, I wanted to push her away. Her scent disgusted me, but at that time, no matter what, you refused to lower yourself to me, so I wanted to irritate you."

"Finally, when I managed to drive you away, I didn’t feel happy at all, just regret."

"That’s when I realized I wasn’t torturing you; I was clearly torturing myself."

Scarlett Yates was stunned, slowly lifting her head to look at him.

"Why are you telling me this?" She asked.

Matthew Saxon smiled, "Because I hope you can completely drop the idea of divorcing me, even if you only thought about it for an instant."

His eyes, as deep as a dark night ocean, deeply gazed into her. He sighed softly, with an incredibly gentle voice, "Scarlett Yates, I care about you more than I imagined."

--

Scarlett Yates waited in the corridor outside the examination room. After sitting for a while, she couldn’t sit still and stood up. She stood for a bit, walked a few steps back and forth, feeling restless and anxious, before sitting down again.

After going back and forth like this for about half an hour, the door opened, and she saw Hayes Simmons come out from inside.

Upon seeing her, Hayes Simmons approached and said to her, "Matthew’s examination results are out, and the situation is not very good."
