Chapter 1456: Chapter 1456: What Kind of Complicated?

However, when Hayes Simmons said this, his brows furrowed slightly.

Scarlett Yates’s heart skipped a beat and trembled forcefully: "What exactly is going on?"

Hayes’s hesitant and evasive demeanor made Scarlett even more distrustful of his words.

If Matthew Saxon was truly fine, why wouldn’t he just directly tell her the final result?

"Scarlett, don’t worry just yet." Hayes tried to comfort her by patting her shoulder and then said, "Come to the office with me. I’ll explain everything in detail there."

Scarlett’s heart sank abruptly, a rush of coldness shot straight to her feet, and it felt like she was hit on the forehead with a stick, leaving her entire state not quite right.

Since Hayes called her into the office, how could it be just some trivial issues?

She followed behind Hayes in a daze, looking like she had lost her soul—utterly despondent.

After entering the office, Scarlett walked last, and once she closed the office door, Hayes pointed to the seat opposite, saying, "Sit down."

Scarlett nodded, her face heavy with emotion. After taking two steps and before she could sit down, she impatiently asked, "Mr. Simmons, what did the test results show?"

Hayes tapped his finger on the edge of the table, gesturing for her to sit down first: "Sit down first. There’s no rush. His condition is a bit complex; I need to explain it to you slowly."

Scarlett’s face was already gloomy, and upon hearing the word "complex," it turned even worse.

"What kind of complexity?"

After she sat down, Hayes stood up to make a cup of hot water for her, and as Scarlett reached to receive it, he sighed gently, saying, "The examination this time wasn’t thorough enough, so we haven’t pinpointed the exact cause yet, but Matthew’s body is indeed not quite normal. By not normal, I mean the entire immune system has some issues."

"To put it simply, his body is very frail."

"This frailness is not visible in everyday life. If not for this recent incident, wouldn’t you think he was always quite normal?"

The hot water was freshly poured. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

Scarlett held the cup in her hands but could not feel any warmth.

Instead, the coldness that had seeped into her feet was spreading through all her limbs and bones. In the blink of an eye, her hands and feet felt ice-cold, and drawing heat from the cup made no difference.

This chill was emanating from deep within her heart.

Her fingers tightened around the cup, and she bit her lip, remaining silent for a while before struggling to ask, "Does this greatly affect his body? Can it be cured? Will this happen to him often in the future? I mean... suddenly collapsing on the ground?"

She asked several questions in succession.

Afterward, she stared intently at Hayes, anxiously and apprehensively awaiting his response.

Hayes frowned slightly, bowed his head in thought for a moment, and then slowly said, "Scarlett, do you remember how Uncle Saxon was the same, fine one moment, and suddenly fainting while bleeding uncontrollably? After that, his fainting and bleeding occurred more frequently, didn’t it?"

If Scarlett was only slightly pale before, after hearing Hayes’s words, her remaining trace of color drained completely from her face.
