Chapter 477: Chapter 166: An 80s Drama Queen Forced to Act as a Top Student (1)

The first balls to drop in these kinds of raffles rarely contained good prizes. They strictly followed a set win ratio and were heavily controlled by the organizers, so there wasn’t much to get excited about.

Everyone knew the drill and just went through the motions, collecting their consolation prizes.

However, the Purple Cloud Space-Time Administration Bureau was rich, and everyone present was a pillar of the organization. As such, the consolation prizes were actually good enough to bring a sliver of comfort to those who received them.

As the number of small balls in the transparent sphere dwindled, the quality of the prizes improved, and sounds of envy finally began to rise from the crowd.

But the mysterious grand prize had yet to be drawn. By the time Sister Yun went up, there were still thirty to forty balls left, and she had five chances.

Even she, who was known for her incredible luck, couldn’t help but feel a little nervous.

She had already heard that a mysterious person was in attendance. Now that the year-end banquet was reaching its climax, the passionate speculation about this person had only intensified. Even she had gotten swept up in it, secretly joining heated discussions on the forums.

’Is it the company’s young master? One of the half-bald bigwigs from the research institute? Or... could I hope it’s the War God?’

Amidst a storm of envy, jealousy, and hate from the crowd, Sister Yun made her way forward. She wore wedge heels, her gait a graceful sway. The simple black dress only served to highlight her naturally stunning and beautiful features, making them seem as if they were veiled in a soft halo of light, appearing all the more radiant and exquisite.

She unceremoniously slapped the start button with her fair hand. The large sphere began to rotate, spinning faster and faster. After about half a minute, the small opening at the bottom popped open with a CLICK.

As the rotation slowed, a few of the small balls began rolling toward the opening.

While the crowd held its breath, five small balls wobbled out one after another.

The host smiled, gathered all five balls in his arms, and walked over to Sister Yun. "Sister Yun, you still outshine all the other beauties here today."

That single sentence was enough to stoke the ire of half the people in the room.

’What’s that supposed to mean? Are we all just props? Just a bunch of background characters making up the numbers?’

’We’re all task-doers and actors for the company, too. Does he have to kiss up to Gu Yun like that, and so shamelessly?’

’Fine, she’s beautiful, and her personality is different from others—she’s spontaneous and often has ridiculously good luck.’

’But she’s just an ordinary person, one of the task-doers at the Purple Cloud Space-Time Administration Bureau. Did the host really have to put everyone down just to praise her?’

In the past, the host certainly wouldn’t have praised Sister Yun so effusively, or at least he would have been more considerate of everyone’s feelings.

But the main reason was that Sister Yun had caught the mysterious guest’s eye today, and upper management had ordered him to praise her to the high heavens!

Hearing this, Gu Yun let out a soft laugh. The slight tilt of her chin and her narrow, fox-like eyes, crinkled with amusement, added a lively, triumphant flair to her stunning features.

Infuriating, wasn’t it? The people below glared at her, wishing she would just get off the stage and stop being such an eyesore.

The host added a few more compliments which, to Sister Yun, sounded particularly sincere. Then he smiled and had her open the first ball.

"Congratulations to Sister Yun on winning a limited-edition spaceship from the company..."

"Congratulations to Sister Yun on winning a set of tickets for a couples’ space-time tour..."

"...permission to reside in the Interstellar City..."

"...a villa in the center of the Interstellar City..."

To put it in perspective, these prizes were the equivalent of winning a limited-edition sports car, a luxury island vacation, residency in the Capital City, and a traditional courtyard manor in the heart of the Capital City!

Although Sister Yun worked diligently, her pitiful salary was just enough to support herself. If she wanted to live a life of luxury, she had a better chance of praying for a high-status assignment in one of the dimensions she visited.

It was as if these prizes had been tailor-made for her; every single one was exactly what her heart desired!

The announcements made everyone in the crowd turn green with envy.

Any one of those prizes represented a level of success that the employees present couldn’t hope to achieve in a lifetime of honest work!

When they reached the final ball, the host paused and said with a smile, "Sister Yun, your luck is truly incredible today. As you can see, everyone is thrilled for you."

"I’m holding Sister Yun’s last prize ball. I wonder if our company’s grand prize could be inside?"

After dragging out the suspense, the host finally smiled and prompted Gu Yun to open the last ball.

Written on it in bold letters was the prize: the winner would receive an opportunity to dance with the mysterious guest!

The crowd below wore expressions that screamed, ’Just as we thought.’ They were practically sour with jealousy.

They were all employees of the Purple Cloud Space-Time Administration Bureau, many with more seniority than the others. They had all learned from harsh reality that every word and deed of a company employee had to conform to the rules.
