Chapter 162: Chapter 159: Charming Fox Girl x Cold-Faced Wolf King 9

"But... Song, what I want is every lifetime with you."

Feng Cangwu’s eyes were red as he stared at Ji Xiaosong, enunciating every word.

"So, the whole thing with Lin Wanwan was fake, and the Tiger Clan’s attack was fake... It was all a lie you made up? You deliberately ignored Lin Wanwan to bait me into making a move, waited for my Spiritual Power to be depleted, and then seized the chance to chain me up. That was your ultimate goal, wasn’t it?"

Ji Xiaosong was absolutely furious. She had truly brought this upon herself.

’What on earth did I do in the past to make Feng Cangwu this unhinged?’

"Song, I had no choice. Otherwise, you’d just find another way to escape. From now on, you’ll stay here quietly. I’ll see to the Fox Clan’s arrangements, but the kind of life they’ll lead from now on depends entirely on your attitude."

With that, Feng Cangwu turned and left with a flick of his sleeves.

Ji Xiaosong lay on the bed, staring speechlessly at the ceiling of the cave.

’Heavens above, how did I fall for this! I have to learn my lesson. You can’t provoke an unhinged man, and you can never fully trust one either.’

She glanced at the chains and sighed again.

’Feng Cangwu went to such great lengths just to chain me up. He wouldn’t actually move against the Fox Clan, would he?’

Ji Xiaosong quickly extended her Divine Sense into her personal dimension and found all the members of the Fox Clan were still there. Feng Cangwu hadn’t moved them out.

’Forget it. As long as my people are safe, it’s best not to provoke Feng Cangwu. Who knows what other crazy things he’s capable of.’

’Today, he chained me up. What will he do tomorrow?’

’I’m not going to think about it. Not going to think about it...’

Ji Xiaosong decided to just lie back on the bed and sleep. Whatever happened, it could wait until she woke up.

’After all, Feng Cangwu wouldn’t kill me.’

*

By the time Feng Cangwu finished dealing with the Wolf Clan’s affairs and returned to the cave, it was already the evening of the next day.

Ji Xiaosong had been chained to the bed the entire time. When she got hungry, she just took some food from her personal dimension to eat.

Other than not being able to move around freely, nothing else was really different.

She was a homebody anyway, so it didn’t matter much whether she could go out or not.

When she saw Feng Cangwu return, Ji Xiaosong quickly said, "Can you please stop chaining me up? Can’t you just set up a Barrier in your cave or somewhere in the Wolf Clan’s territory? If I’m chained up here every day, I’ll go insane sooner or later. Besides, I’m stuck on this bed all the time—eating, drinking, and relieving myself all in one spot. Don’t you find that disgusting?"

Feng Cangwu stood before the Cold Jade Bed. As his fingertip traced the chain on Ji Xiaosong’s ankle, the Ice Jade Marrow suddenly melted into a mercury-like liquid. It snaked up her calf and solidified into an anklet that pulsed with Spiritual Power.

"A Barrier can’t hold someone who can decipher the Space Law."

He leaned down, his wolf tail spreading across the stone bed, its tip curled around half a bowl of amber-colored medicinal liquid. "But if Song is willing to wear the Marriage Contract Bell, then everything would be different."

Ji Xiaosong suddenly grabbed a lock of his hanging silver hair, her nose brushing against his Adam’s apple as she chuckled. "One minute it’s a marriage contract, the next it’s a bell. You might as well just keep me by your side every day. That way, I’d have my freedom, and I could still be with you."

Hearing her words, Feng Cangwu’s eyes instantly filled with surprise and disbelief. With trembling hands, he slowly reached for the chains binding Ji Xiaosong.

As his Spiritual Power surged, the chains loosened inch by inch before falling to the floor with a crisp CLATTER.

"Song, you... you really mean it?"

Feng Cangwu’s voice was hoarse and his eyes were red with emotion. He gripped Ji Xiaosong’s shoulders tightly, as if afraid this was all a beautiful dream and she would vanish if he loosened his hold in the slightest.

Ji Xiaosong gave a small smile. Her fingers traveled slowly up Feng Cangwu’s arm, wrapped around the back of his neck, and pulled him closer.

"I told you from the very beginning that I would stay with you in this lifetime. The reason I can only promise this life is because the future isn’t something I can decide. Life and death are matters of fate, and the future is up to the heavens. Let’s just focus on living well in the present, okay?"

"Alright."

Feng Cangwu could no longer hold back. After a breathtakingly deep kiss, his hand quietly slipped into his robes and retrieved the Marriage Contract Bell.

His movements were feather-light, as if he were afraid of startling Ji Xiaosong.

While Ji Xiaosong was lost in the heat of the moment, he swiftly fastened the Marriage Contract Bell onto her wrist.

The moment the Marriage Contract Bell was fastened, it emitted a soft glow, instantly resonating with Ji Xiaosong’s Spiritual Power.

Feng Cangwu finally stopped, as if waking from a dream. He looked up at Ji Xiaosong, at the Marriage Contract Bell on her wrist, his eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions: the joy of his success, and the deep-seated fear of losing her.

In the days that followed, Feng Cangwu finally stopped chaining Ji Xiaosong up. Instead, he kept her by his side at all times.

Life in the Beast World wasn’t like living in the Neolithic era. Any beast who could take human form was able to improve their quality of life.

Ji Xiaosong was a fox in this life. Perhaps due to the instincts of her species, she wasn’t used to living out in the open and was quite happy to sleep in a cave.

A month later, she discovered she was pregnant.

Feng Cangwu was the first to notice. An extra point of light had appeared in the world’s Barrier, which he figured must be the soul of the one who would be his child in this lifetime.

A Fox Clan pregnancy, if measured by the standards of the ordinary Mortal World, would last less than two months.

But this was the Beast World, so the gestation period would be much longer.

"Song, you’re pregnant now. Based on the gestation period for the Fox Clan, you’ll likely be pregnant for at least five years."

"What did you say? Five years?!"

Ji Xiaosong asked Feng Cangwu again in disbelief.

"You’re saying I’ll have to be pregnant for five years?"

"Yes. After all, the child has to absorb the Spiritual Energy of the world and form its body. Five years is actually considered a short time."

"No, that’s not acceptable. This is my first time being pregnant as a fox; I have no experience. You need to let my people return to their territory so they can live normally. I’m going to need their help."

When Feng Cangwu heard Ji Xiaosong’s demand, a troubled look flashed across his face.

His brow furrowed slightly and he subconsciously clenched his fists. He spoke slowly, "Song, if I let the Fox Clan return to their territory, you won’t leave me, will you?"

"I won’t. I’ll still stay with you in the Wolf Clan."

"But I don’t dare to risk it."

Hearing this, Ji Xiaosong’s eyes instantly welled with tears. She grabbed Feng Cangwu’s sleeve and said desperately, "Then what should I do? I’m pregnant now, and I really need my people with me. I’m scared... I’m scared I won’t be able to handle this alone."

Her voice was choked with sobs, and her body trembled slightly.

A sharp pain stabbed at Feng Cangwu’s heart as he looked at Ji Xiaosong’s fragile, pitiful state.

He gently pulled Ji Xiaosong into his arms and let out a long sigh. "Fine, fine. How can I bear to see you so worried? I’ll arrange everything and let the Fox Clan return safely to their territory. But you absolutely cannot leave me. Even after the child is born, you must always put me first."

At this, a smile finally appeared on Ji Xiaosong’s face. She tilted her head up and placed a gentle kiss on Feng Cangwu’s cheek. "I will. Thank you, Cangwu."

With Ji Xiaosong’s promise, Feng Cangwu flicked his finger. Instantly, the frozen plains of the Fox Clan’s territory unsealed, returning to their original state.

And her people, whom everyone had assumed had perished due to the change in climate, were all alive and well.

Feng Cangwu brought Ji Xiaosong to the Fox Clan’s territory, where he then released all of her people from her personal dimension.
