Chapter 849: Chapter 848: A Wife Should Be Spoiled and Indulged (4)
Bella Acker looked at a certain completely oblivious man, twitching the corner of her mouth. "President Sinclair, didn’t you drive here yourself?"
"I did, it’s fine parked over there." Damian said, "The roads are slippery with the snow. I’ll drive you and Talia home."
He said it so naturally that anything Bella said after that would just make her seem petty.
"Alright then, we’ll trouble President Sinclair to be our chauffeur." Bella didn’t sit in the passenger seat; she went straight to the back.
Damian glanced back, and Bella raised her brows at him in a provocative way.
"Hey." Damian sighed helplessly and started the car, driving out.
Hearing that sigh, Bella was speechless. Why did it feel like he was sighing as if she were being unreasonable?
Seriously! Who’s the one being unreasonable insisting on coming along with them?
Bella folded her arms across her chest, turned her face away and huffed.
"Hee hee hee." The little girl sat in her child seat, covering her mouth as she watched the two interact, giggling nonstop.
"You’re still laughing? It’s all your fault, you keep selling me out." Bella pinched the little girl’s nose, deliberately putting on a very angry, fierce look.
"Mommy, I’m doing this for your own good." The little girl wasn’t scared at all. She grabbed Bella’s finger, rubbed it against her cheek and said in her milky voice, "Daddy really likes Mommy. If Mommy and Daddy are together, you’ll definitely be super happy."
"You little brat, what do you know." Bella’s cheeks were burning. She pouted and turned her head back, only to meet Damian’s gaze in the rearview mirror.
There was a faint smile in Damian’s eyes. Bella’s face flushed under his look; she turned to stare out the window and muttered, "You two are completely in cahoots. I’m not talking to either of you."
"Mommy, you should act spoiled with Daddy, not with me." The little girl sighed again, shaking her head in exasperation. "Forget it, you’re my mommy after all. If I don’t dote on you, who would I dote on?"
She sounded just like a little grown-up, which made Bella burst out laughing. "Miss Talia, please clarify: exactly which one of us is doting on which?"
"Hee hee hee, okay, Mommy’s the one who dotes on me." The little girl wrapped her arms around Bella’s and rubbed against her affectionately. "Mommy, I’m sleepy."
Bella tugged on the knit cap on her little head. "If you’re sleepy, then sleep. I’ll wake you up when we get to your teacher’s place."
"Mm." The little girl continued to hug Bella’s arm, curling up against her like a kitten. She closed her eyes, and in a small murmur said, "Mommy, I’m sorry."
Bella’s heart gave a jolt; she knew the little girl was apologizing for yesterday’s big tantrum.
She smiled softly, turned sideways and bent down to kiss the little girl’s forehead. In a gentle voice she said, "Talia, I’m sorry too."
The little girl smiled as well, her small hands tightening around Bella’s arm before she gradually drifted off to sleep.
Looking at her little girl’s sleeping face, Bella’s heart melted into a puddle.
Before becoming a mother, you really can’t understand this kind of tenderness—seeing your own child nestle beside you, becoming your weakness, and at the same time, your armor.
As a woman spoiled by a man, she could act coy and be fragile, but as a mother, she had to be strong.
No one spoke in the car, yet a comforting warmth filled the space.
Like this... maybe it’s actually pretty nice.
