Chapter 850: Chapter 849: Sick

The road was slippery after the snow, and everyone was driving slower than usual.

By the time the car stopped at the place where Talia has lessons, it was already past two.

Bella Acker gently poked the rosy cheek of the sleeping girl, "Talia, we’re here."

"Hmm?" The little girl opened her eyes groggily, "Mommy, I’m sleepy."

"Still sleepy?" Bella Acker frowned, noticing her unusually red face. She reached out to touch her forehead, only to realize the little girl had somehow developed a fever.

"What’s wrong?" Damian Sinclair turned his head.

Bella Acker frowned, "Talia has a fever, we need to go to the hospital."

"Let me see." Damian Sinclair unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned over, and felt the little girl’s forehead, finding it indeed very hot. His expression turned serious instantly, "We’ve been keeping her warm enough, and she hasn’t been outside. How could she have a fever?"

As Damian Sinclair spoke, he restarted the car and called someone on the phone, "Hello, it’s me. Please arrange for the best pediatrician. My daughter has a high fever, we’re heading over now."

After hanging up, Damian Sinclair steered the car and accelerated.

Bella Acker took a thermometer and a cooling patch out of her bag, "Talia, open up a bit, Mommy needs to take your temperature."

"Okay." The little girl was drowsy and not entirely alert because of the fever. However, taking her temperature had become almost a habit for her, so she cooperated despite her hazy state.

After placing the thermometer, Bella Acker tore open a cooling patch and applied it to her. Seeing her flushed face was heart-wrenching.

"Talia, do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?" Bella Acker asked softly.

"Sleepy," the little girl barely opened her eyes before closing them again, leaning softly against Bella Acker.

Bella Acker brushed her hair back from her ears, comforting, "It’s okay. Once we take the medicine, you’ll sleep, and when you wake up, you’ll feel better."

"Hmm."

With a heavy heart, Bella Acker called Ethan on her phone.

The ringtone sounded three or four times before Ethan answered, "Sister, have you arrived? I’m coming to pick up Talia."

"Talia has a high fever. We’re taking her to the hospital now. Ethan, please inform her teacher for a leave of absence."

"Talia’s sick? Sister, is it serious?" Ethan was anxious upon hearing the little girl was ill.

"She just got the fever, it’s nothing to worry about. Just focus on your class, I’ll take her to the hospital. Don’t worry," said Bella Acker. "Are you in class now?"

"Yes, I took leave to answer the call." Ethan replied.

"Then hurry back to class, and remember to inform Talia’s teacher. I’ll hang up now."

After ending the call, Bella Acker checked the time and then took the thermometer from the little girl, discovering her temperature was nearly forty degrees.

Damian Sinclair asked, "What’s her temperature?"

"Thirty-nine point eight degrees," Bella Acker replied, holding onto the thermometer and, seeing the little girl’s flushed face, blamed herself, "I shouldn’t have let her play in the snow for so long, otherwise she wouldn’t have gotten a fever."

"It’s not your fault, it’s mine." Damian Sinclair drove the car both quickly and steadily, looking ahead, "I didn’t realize Talia’s resistance was so weak, or we wouldn’t have gone fishing at the reservoir this morning."

Seeing the little girl feverish and unwell, both parents felt distressed.

Finally, the car stopped at the hospital entrance. Damian Sinclair immediately got out, picked up the little girl, and rushed towards the hospital, with Bella Acker holding the thermometer and following closely.
