Chapter 824: Chapter 823: Standing Up for My Granddaughter-in-law (9)

Faced with the seriousness in Damian Sinclair’s gaze, Bella Acker suddenly didn’t know what to say.

The original deadlock remained, but he seemed to have decided to stand by her side. What about his family?

Bella looked into his eyes, and her heart trembled slightly.

Should she forget everything from before and trust once more?

Bella lowered her gaze and softly said, "President Sinclair, in five years, you’ve changed, and I’ve changed too. Do you think you still know this person I’ve become? If you think I’m the same as before, then you are so very wrong."

"Five years of change is nothing; we have decades ahead. I can slowly get to know you better as long as you are willing to give me that time." Damian kept his gaze on her, not turning away for a moment.

Bella felt uneasy under his gaze, turned her head and changed the subject: "The old man doesn’t plan to let you in, are you planning to stand out here all night?"

"My wife and child are inside, naturally I must stand here and keep watch." Damian said, as if it were the most natural thing in the world, leaving Bella momentarily speechless.

Damian noticed Bella wasn’t wearing much, so he took off his coat and wrapped it around her, saying, "It’s already wet, but wearing it is better than nothing."

Bella turned sideways, "Wear it yourself, I’m not cold."

"Your hands are ice cold and you still say you’re not cold." Damian forcefully draped the coat on her, saying, "Although emotionally intelligent men should have their women go back inside during such times, I like you being here with me, and I don’t want you to leave."

He spoke so candidly that Bella found it hard to argue.

After holding back for a while, she could only throw him a sideways glance.

Damian let out a low laugh and reached out to wrap his arm around Bella’s shoulder, bringing her closer in a rather assertive manner.

Bella poked his side, "President Sinclair, I was just being kind, feeling sorry for you and holding an umbrella over you, don’t get the wrong idea."

"Alright, whatever you say." Damian kept his arm around her shoulder, a smile in his eyes, saying, "Ms. Acker, since you’ve kindly come to hold this umbrella for me, it’s not too much to ask you to help keep the rain off my head, is it?"

"Helping to shield you from the rain is fine, but must we stand so close?" Bella rolled her eyes.

"The umbrella is too small; it can’t cover two people." Damian’s reasoning was quite sound.

Bella looked up and assessed that the small black umbrella did indeed struggle to cover two people, if forced to, they’d have to stand closer.

"President Sinclair, being of noble stature, it wouldn’t be good to catch a cold, I’ll shield you from the rain." Bella said as she was about to step aside again, but Damian directly reached out and embraced her shoulders from behind, pulling her into his arms, assertively saying, "No, I can’t bear to have you get caught in the rain."

Bella froze at his words.

His breath was close to her ear, and his words seemed to follow that warmth directly into her heart, causing it to flutter wildly.

"Your heart is beating so fast." Damian closed his eyes, a slight smile on his lips.

Bella’s face turned crimson in an instant, nervously saying, "Whose... whose heart is beating fast!"

"Mine." Damian tightened his hold on her shoulders, softly repeating, "My heart is beating fast."

His heart is beating fast?

So was he nervous too, was he also flustered?

Bella pressed her lips together tightly, lowering her head, her face red as can be.
