Chapter 823: Chapter 822: Standing Up for the Granddaughter-in-law (8)

The rain fell in a fine line, and even standing in the living room, one could hear the raindrops tapping on the flowers and grass in the garden.

Bella dialed the phone, but in her heart, she wondered if Damian had left.

The call connected, and Sharon’s voice came from the other end, "Bella, it’s raining pretty heavily outside. Are you back yet?"

"Godmother, I’m staying at Grandpa’s tonight. I’ll come back tomorrow. You and Ethan should go to bed early, don’t wait for me."

"Okay. Is Grandpa’s health okay?"

"He hurt his leg, but it’s nothing serious."

Bella chatted with Sharon for a while before hanging up, and in just that short time, the rain outside had grown even heavier.

Grandpa and the little girl were having a great time over there, but Bella couldn’t completely relax. She quietly told the butler, "I’m going out for a bit, I’ll be right back."

With that, she didn’t wait for the butler’s response and quickly left the living room.

The grandpa and the little girl who were playing simultaneously stopped and glanced toward the living room door.

The two exchanged a look, smiled at each other, and high-fived.

"Yay," the little girl said happily, "Now it’s up to Daddy to see if he can win Mommy’s heart."

"Yeah, we can only help so much," Grandpa chuckled.

The two of them were laughing like big and little foxes at this moment. The butler looked toward the villa door and said, "Master, do you think Ms. Acker would be angry if she knew the truth?"

At these words, the self-satisfied smiles of the two instantly froze.

"Talia, what if young Acker gets mad?"

"Grandpa, what if Mommy gets mad?"

They both asked simultaneously, then froze again, losing all interest in playing, beginning to worry about being scolded as they looked at each other. ℯ

Bella reached the door, and a servant handed her a black umbrella.

She held up the umbrella and walked briskly toward the villa’s gate under the streetlight’s illumination.

But as she was about to reach the gate, she stopped in her tracks.

Why come out? Why still worry about him?

Hadn’t she already decided never to have any ties with him again?

Even though she was firm, some things deep inside her were still out of her control, and she couldn’t help but worry if he was cold or might catch a cold.

And being turned away by the closest family, would he feel very hurt?

Bella pressed her lips tightly, eventually gripping the umbrella handle firmly and walking toward the gate.

Sure enough, that tall figure still stood outside the gate, and even in the rain under the streetlight, he looked as cold and determined as ever.

Bella opened the gate and walked over, raising the umbrella in her hand over his head. She said, "President Sinclair, why do you insist on standing in the rain? If you catch a cold, you’re the one who will suffer."

Damian looked down at her, "Then why did you come out?"

Bella, holding the umbrella, paused, momentarily speechless.

Damian continued, "Since you’re worried about me, then standing in the rain is worth it."

Bella frowned, "Are you an idiot? If you catch a cold from standing in the rain, you’ll be the one suffering. What does that have to do with me?"

"As long as I know you still care about me, none of that matters," Damian looked at her and said, "I understand the fear in your heart. I don’t want to promise anything because that’s meaningless. I just want to show you. I want you to know that I am willing to give up everything for you."
