Chapter 817: Chapter 816: Supporting the Granddaughter-in-law (2)

Watching the old man’s ingratiating look, Bella Acker found it both amusing and heartwarming.

"Old man, you don’t have to be so good to me," Bella Acker said with a slight smile.

"That won’t do. You’re the only granddaughter-in-law that this old man acknowledges. Who else should I be good to if not you?" The old man said very seriously: "Besides being good to you, I also have to be good to Talia. Previously, I hid my identity and didn’t give Talia a proper meeting gift. Next time we meet, I must make it up to her. If it really doesn’t work out, I’ll just give Talia a black card so she can buy whatever she wants." ℴ

The more the old man spoke, the more enthusiastic he became. It seemed that if a black card wasn’t enough, he would issue a check instead.

Bella Acker felt that the way he spoiled Talia was very familiar; it was no different from how Damian Sinclair spoiled Talia.

Buy anything she wants, how spoiled would Talia become?

Bella Acker couldn’t help but feel grateful that Talia matured early. Having been raised by her for four or five years, she had already formed the right values and consumer concepts. Otherwise, the grandpa and grandson would have spoiled her into a little tyrant.

Bella Acker sighed, "Old man, Talia is still just a kid, only a few years old. She shouldn’t feel like everything comes easily."

"Yes, yes, Young Acker, you’re right," the old man nodded repeatedly, "but we can’t just deny Talia whatever she wants, that would be so pitiful."

"It’s not that she doesn’t get anything, it’s just..." Bella Acker thought for a moment and said, "just don’t spoil her too much, so she doesn’t develop bad habits."

"Young Acker, I understand what you mean," the old man said, "rest assured, Talia is smart and won’t learn bad things. By the way, why didn’t you bring Talia along when you came over today?"

The old man pretended not to know anything as he asked about Talia, his demeanor quite natural, showing no signs of giving anything away.

Mentioning Talia made Bella Acker’s expression somewhat desolate. She wondered if Talia was crying or misbehaving.

"Young Acker, what’s wrong? Did you have a falling out with Talia?" the old man asked softly.

Bella Acker smiled wryly, "I lost control of my emotions and shouted at Talia today, she... she went off with President Sinclair."

"Talia is with that brat?" the old man said, "That’s easy, I’ll call that brat right now and have him bring Talia over. Young Acker, why don’t you stay over with Talia tonight? I tell you, I’ve had your and Talia’s room prepared long ago, just hoping you both would come and keep this old man company sooner!"

Bella Acker indeed missed the little girl and was worried, but she felt it would be a bit embarrassing to call Damian Sinclair herself and ask him to bring Talia home.

The old man noticed her hesitation and immediately waved for the butler to bring a mobile phone and dialed Damian Sinclair’s number.

"Hello, brat, Young Acker is here with me. I heard Talia is with you?" the old man asked right off the bat, "Is Talia crying?"

"She’s crying now, says she misses Mom,"

The old man seemed to have turned on the speakerphone, and Bella Acker heard Damian’s somewhat cool voice coming from the other end of the phone.

"Mommy, wah wah wah..." The little girl on the other end sounded particularly heartbroken as she cried.

Bella Acker’s heart twisted when she heard her cry, "Talia, don’t cry, it’s Mommy’s fault today. Mommy will come get you now."

"Mommy, I miss you so much," the little girl said between sobs, making Bella Acker’s heart ache terribly.

The old man shouted, "Brat, hurry up and bring Talia over!"
