Chapter 816 - 815: Standing Up for My Granddaughter-in-law
Chapter 816: Chapter 815: Standing Up for My Granddaughter-in-law
The old man didn’t even spare Cecilia Lynch a glance, acting as if he hadn’t heard a word she said. His intention to send her away was perfectly clear.
Seeing that pleading with the old man was useless, Cecilia could only shift her gaze to Bella Acker. "Bella... The Little Queen Acker, I spoke without thinking and made Grandpa Sinclair upset. Could you help me talk to Grandpa Sinclair? It’s fine if he’s angry with me, I’m just worried he might hurt his health by getting so worked up."
Bella had been calmly sitting to the side, watching Cecilia make a scene in front of the old man. She originally thought that at a time like this, Cecilia would finally wise up and retreat in the face of difficulty. She hadn’t expected Cecilia to actually come begging her.
At Cecilia’s words, Bella smiled faintly. "Cecilia Lynch, pretending not to know me is your freedom, but refusing to play along with your ’we don’t know each other’ act is my right. And besides, what made you think I would plead for you? When did you become this naive?"
Cecilia froze. It had never occurred to her that Bella Acker, whom she hadn’t seen for five years, would turn into someone like this.
If this had been five years ago, even if Bella didn’t like her, for the sake of the old man being so angry, Bella would definitely have tried to calm him down first. She would never have mocked her this bluntly.
That was exactly why she had just turned to speak to Bella.
But she never imagined Bella’s personality would have changed so drastically, to the point she was practically a different person from five years ago.
Seeing Cecilia stunned, Bella wiped the corner of her mouth, then turned to the old man with a smiling tone. "Old Master, Cecilia Lynch and I have known each other for a long time, and we’ve had plenty of conflicts. If you plan to keep her for dinner today, then I’ll head out first and come visit you another day."
"Young Acker, what are you leaving for? Sit down. These dishes were all specially made by the chef to suit your taste." The old man immediately pressed down on Bella’s hand and said in a deep voice, "Butler, didn’t you hear what my good granddaughter-in-law just said? Since anyone who has grudges with my good granddaughter-in-law has grudges with The Sinclair Family, what’s the point of bringing that kind of person into our home? Just to make things unpleasant?"
Now he’d even dropped the word "see her out" and gone straight to calling her a nuisance.
"Grandpa Sinclair, you..." Cecilia no longer knew what to say.
The butler stepped forward. His attitude was still polite, but he firmly took hold of Cecilia’s arm. "First Miss Lynch, please." Don’t be fooled by the butler’s age—he was well trained, and the strength in his hand was anything but gentle.
Cecilia didn’t dare struggle inside The Sinclair Family’s house. Panic-stricken and fearful, she was pulled out of the dining room by the butler and then escorted out of the villa.
Even after leaving the villa, Cecilia still hadn’t really processed what had just happened.
The true purpose of her visit today was indeed to plead for Damian Sinclair. Doing so was also a way to show her face in front of the old man and let him see just how deep her feelings for Damian ran.
Old people, after all, tend to have more goodwill toward those who are devoted.
But she had never expected to run into Bella Acker. It was as if every time she crossed paths with Bella, or anything related to Bella, the anger and hatred in her heart became impossible to control.
Having driven out the eyesore, the old man immediately said, "Young Acker, don’t worry. As long as this old man is around, The Lynch Family won’t dare do anything to you."
Bella let out a soft laugh at that. "Old Master, are you planning to be my backing then?"
"But of course." The old man said, "Don’t you like filming TV dramas and movies? This old man will put together a dedicated team for you. You can shoot as many projects as you like and in whatever way makes you happy, all right?"
