Chapter 781: Chapter 780: Threat (Part 4)

Bella and the others went to the police station to give their statements.

Since Bella is a public figure, the police agreed to keep it confidential to prevent the matter from being exaggerated by the media.

As they left the police station, the driver, who had cowardly hidden away during the incident, felt ashamed seeing Bella and Judy Zimmerman.

"Ms. Acker, I’m sorry. Their appearance was too frightening at the time. I have both young and elderly at home. If anything happened to me, they would have no way to live," the driver explained cautiously, fearing he might be fired for what had just happened.

"Choosing self-preservation in the face of danger is instinctive," Bella smiled, then turned to Cynthia Young, who had personally come to pick them up, and said, "Ms. Young, let’s send Piggy home to rest first. She was really scared today."

"Ms. Young, I was negligent in my duties," Judy Zimmerman bowed her head, saying, "In the face of danger, it was Bella who protected me."

"Then you need to work even harder in the future to live up to Bella’s loyalty in protecting you," Cynthia Young said.

Judy Zimmerman nodded earnestly, "Yes, I will."

"Alright, let’s take you home to rest now." Cynthia Young took out her wallet, pulled out a hundred yuan, and handed it to the driver, saying, "You can take a cab back on your own. Thank you for your trouble today."

"Not at all, not at all." The driver accepted the hundred yuan, repeatedly expressing his thanks.

After sending off the driver, Bella and the others got into the car.

Cynthia Young started the car, and as she glanced at the driver still standing by the roadside through the window, she said, "This driver is newly hired by the studio and is currently on probation. I’ll talk to the HR department later; we don’t need such a person."

Judy Zimmerman nodded, "Yes! The three of us together, yet he’s the one who ran the fastest. Someone who only thinks for himself isn’t reliable to have around."

"Self-preservation in times of danger is instinctive. Yet, when there’s no regard for comforting one’s companions and he seeks to justify himself afterward, it shows a lack of responsibility and commitment," Cynthia Young said in a businesslike manner as she drove. "Moreover, Bella is a public figure. Certain personal matters can’t be exposed. If those around her lack responsibility and commitment, it would be very easy for others to buy them off, making such a person a liability to have."

"I agree with Ms. Young’s perspective," Judy Zimmerman nodded.

Bella frowned, "I have a different view."

"What is it?" Judy Zimmerman turned to look at her, and Cynthia Young glanced at her through the rearview mirror as well.

"This driver might not be so simple," Bella said. "I noticed a pretty large and long scar on the back of his hand, like a knife wound, and he seemed to be deliberately wearing gloves to cover it. Such a scar can’t be from ordinary cooking or the like; it looks more like he got slashed in a fight. Would a strong man built for fighting, with wounds from knives, be so timid? Moreover, the only people who knew about our return schedule aside from Ms. Young were the driver and those men who clearly came for me. Why would they be so familiar with my schedule and coincidentally follow right behind our car and block us?"

"Bella, are you suggesting that the driver sold the information to those four men?" Judy Zimmerman exclaimed in surprise.

"Aside from him selling the information, there’s another point."

Cynthia Young quickly realized, "You suspect that the driver and those four men who threatened you are in cahoots?"
