Chapter 782: Chapter 781: Threat (5)
Bella frowned, always feeling that things were not as simple as they appeared.
"Right now, I’m just guessing based on intuition and some observations, without any evidence," Bella said cautiously. "Maybe I’m just overthinking."
"Whether it’s true or not, we can’t use this driver anymore," Cynthia said. "I’ll get a copy of the driver’s file from HR so someone can investigate. If they’re really in cahoots, we can find the person threatening you sooner."
"Okay." Bella nodded, raised her hand to rub her brow, and said no more.
She actually felt quite scared now, and the issue hadn’t been resolved. Who knew when those people might come at her again.
This issue, unresolved, lingered around her like a ticking time bomb.
What she feared most was that it would harm the people around her.
Cynthia said, "Bella, your fame is gradually rising. I’m considering arranging two more staff members for you. This way, they can better look after your work and also protect your safety."
"Alright, I’ll go with your arrangement, Ms. Young," Bella did not object.
With things settled, Cynthia fell silent, and the car was enveloped in quietness.
After a while, Judy said, "Ms. Young, Bella, do you think this matter could have anything to do with Shirley Caldwell?"
Cynthia frowned, "She already learned her lesson last time. Does she still dare to persist?"
Judy shook her head, "I don’t know. But to specifically hire someone to publicly smash a car on a main street, other than someone as fearless as Shirley Caldwell, I can’t think of anyone else."
"The competition in the entertainment industry is tough. Maybe someone is jealous of Bella’s career since she’s been back and is deliberately trying to embarrass her," Cynthia said. "Aside from the police investigation, I’ll also have someone look into this. Being so arrogant, we have to pursue this to the end."
Cynthia always had a tough stance at work; even if she wouldn’t actually go head-to-head with those wealthy and powerful families, she’d never act subservient in front of them either.
Later, Cynthia first dropped off Judy at home and then took Bella back.
Bella returned to Sharon Cheney’s house, but at this time, there was no one home.
She quickly freshened up and changed into her casual wear, then texted Damian Sinclair on her phone.
"President Sinclair, have you calculated the final total price of the apartment? Once you have, I can transfer the money to you and start setting up over there."
After a while, Damian replied with a text, "Back in Creston already?"
Bella took a sip of water as she read his reply and smiled, typing back, "Yes, just got back today, but almost got stuck halfway from the airport to downtown."
After editing the text, she hit send.
Watching the text send, Bella suddenly paused.
Why did she bring this up to Damian? Was it because she was still scared and subconsciously wanted his comfort?
Or was it that she unconsciously wanted to act a bit spoiled in front of Damian?
After sending the text, Bella regretted it. Unlike chatting on WeChat, she couldn’t retract it within two minutes; it was too late for regret now.
What would Damian think after seeing her text? How would he respond?
Would he ask what happened, tell her not to joke around, or perhaps not reply at all?
Holding her phone, Bella felt remorseful yet also hopeful.
