By some twist of fate, Khorne had witnessed the little daemon's frenzied slaughter. He liked this little fellow brimming with pure, undiluted rage, so he bestowed his blessing on it.

The mighty Khorne noticed the things tormenting the little daemon. With a wave of his hand, he could have made them all disappear.

But he didn't. He made them stronger instead.

Because Khorne figured the little daemon was only this furious because of the pain.

So while blessing the little daemon, he'd boosted the source of its pain while he was at it.

That drove the little daemon even madder. Madder meant more killing, more killing drew more of Khorne's attention, Khorne's attention brought more blessings, and more blessings meant madder still!

Round and round the cycle went, until the little daemon had become a greater daemon, one who got to hang around and eat at Khorne's homestead, while its pain piled up to truly horrifying levels.

By now, the short videos in its head had become a law-type curse!

If it didn't kill one sufficiently powerful enemy every day, the din of hundreds of thousands or even millions of short videos would lock onto every single one of its nerves and treat it to the most extreme noise imaginable!

Kian asked Silentium quietly, "So the brand you burned into this little dae... this greater daemon's head got stronger too? It actually made our control over it stronger?"

Silentium nodded.

"Yeah. Now when we talk in its head, it lands as a strong hypnotic command. Looks like we can control a greater daemon!"

As he said it, Silentium started getting excited. Maybe this wasn't all bad news after all...

But Kian shook his head frantically.

"Stop right there, bro. I'm scared. Give it up, Little Sil, it's over! If the Bandit King of Blade Fort notices us, we won't even know how we died!"

Kian didn't know why Khorne hadn't spotted them. To a certain extent, the Chaos Gods were all-knowing and all-powerful.

The two of them were peeping at Khorne's realm through a greater daemon's eyes. Khorne ought to be able to sense that!

Of course, maybe the strengthened soul brand meant Khorne wouldn't notice the two of them peeping unless he looked closely.

Or maybe Khorne had noticed and just couldn't be bothered, since Kian carried his blessing too.

Either way, Kian didn't dare mess around any further, in case they ended up punching a hole in the sky.

Silentium was at a loss.

"You want to stop? But how do we stop? We can't exactly open a portal, summon a greater daemon here, and kill it."

Of course not. It was a greater daemon. Every greater daemon that came into the material universe caused a catastrophe!

Kian thought it over, and suddenly he had an idea.

To get rid of trash, you don't have to burn it. You just have to throw it far enough away that you never see it again!

"Watch this."

Kian cleared his throat and began to speak deep within the greater daemon's soul.

"Kehehehe. Do you long for peace?"

Inside the Brass Citadel, the greater daemon watching Angron's duel from beneath Khorne's throne froze. Then its face twisted up.

"PEACE!! Every moment, every single instant, I long for peace!!"

Ever since Khorne had blessed it, the short videos in its head had turned into far more powerful neural shocks. It was like ten thousand discos had opened up inside its brain!

Kian licked his lips and tempted it:

"You want peace? Very good. Do as I say, and I'll give you peace."

The strengthened soul brand twisted Kian's words into an extremely powerful suggestion, and the greater daemon's eyes went wide.

"What must I do?"

Kian rubbed his hands together.

"See that black-armoured edgelord sitting on the Skull Throne? Go over there and sock him one!"

That was Khorne's look: a tyrant clad head to toe in black armour.

The greater daemon froze, and its soul sent back a violent wave of fear.

That was Khorne himself! Mad as it was, the greater daemon would dare to hit anyone. It would even dare to hit Angron. But Khorne was the one it would never dare to hit!

Kian saw how scared the thing was and figured that was fair enough. If their places were switched, it would be like telling Kian to go sock the Emperor on the Golden Throne, and he wouldn't dare either.

Seeing that he couldn't order it that way, he changed his approach.

"Okay, first just sneak around behind the black-armoured edgelord. Do it now."

For whatever reason, the greater daemon meekly obeyed.

It pressed itself against the wall and inched around from the side toward Khorne's back.

Khorne and every other greater daemon present had their attention fixed on the arena, where the Daemon Primarch Angron and a greater daemon challenging his position were hacking at each other with axes, so fiercely that heaven and earth changed colour.

Following Kian's directions, the greater daemon shuffled its way around behind Khorne's Skull Throne.

The Skull Throne was made of all sorts of legendary weapons, swords, axes, and hammers twisted together, with the skulls of legendary creatures inlaid across its surface. It symbolized Khorne's brutality and the very essence of war.

Right now Khorne kept yawning, watching the two duelists in front of him with little interest.

He completely failed to notice, or perhaps had deliberately muted his invincible senses and failed to notice, the greater daemon creeping up behind him.

The greater daemon stood behind Khorne, just three paces away, and couldn't bring itself to move.

Kian said, "Get him! Do it! Smash him and you'll have your peace!"

The greater daemon hesitated. It didn't quite dare to strike. But its longing for peace made it raise its big meaty fist anyway.

Down in the arena, the Daemon Primarch Angron had just killed his challenger, taking the other's head off with a single axe stroke.

"RAAAAAAAGH!!!"

He raised the challenger's head, meaning to offer it to Khorne. But as he lifted the head, he froze.

What was he seeing? That newly risen greater daemon was standing behind Khorne with its fist raised to bash Khorne on the head!!

The other greater daemons stared wide-eyed, faces full of disbelief.

The greater daemon held its fist up but never dared bring it down. Kian was urging it on frantically inside its head.

"Hit him! Hit him! Smash him!! Hit him and you'll have eternal peace!!"

The greater daemon was agonizing. Its fist went up and came down, up and down, and it still didn't dare strike.

The other greater daemons below just watched. Every time the fist went up, their eyes went wide and they sucked in a breath. Every time it came down, they let the breath out.

The only sound in the whole place was heavy breathing.

Khorne saw his greater daemons all looking at him with shock, admiration, excitement, and a hurry up already look in their eyes, and he was taken aback.

"Why do you all stare at Us so?"

A few of the greater daemons opened their mouths to tell him to look behind him, but at the last moment they shut them again.

Being a snitch was an unforgivable sin in Khorne's hierarchy!

So, sorry, my lord.

Khorne looked thoroughly puzzled. He had no idea what had gotten into his greater daemons.

Meanwhile, inside the head of the greater daemon behind him, Kian saw that this wuss still wouldn't swing and roared at it.

"If you don't hit him!! I'll put your videos on double speed and annoy you to DEATH!!"

When the greater daemon heard that the noise would double, it panicked, and what little reason it had left evaporated.

"I'll hit him! I'll hit him! I'LL HIT HIM, AAAAAAAAAH!!!"

It spotted a broken two-handed hammer on the Skull Throne. The haft had snapped, but the head was intact, which made it a one-handed hammer now.

It yanked the hammer free, gripped it with both hands, and raised it high, its face twisted in terror. Then, faster than a thunderclap, quicker than you could say "jingle bells," it brought it down hard on the back of Khorne's head...

Below, nearly a thousand daemons stared at the raised hammer with their eyes wide and their hearts in their throats!!

Khorne saw how strange their faces looked and couldn't hold back anymore.

"Hey! What are you all..."

DUANG!!!!!

A sound like a super-heavy artillery shell going off exploded through the Brass Citadel. Every one of the tens of billions of daemons in the Brass Citadel seemed to hear it.

Khorne's helmeted head snapped forward. He felt a wave of dizziness, but only for an instant.

He whipped around and saw the greater daemon, and the hammer in its hands. He reached back and felt the back of his head. There was a small dent in his helmet.

Khorne looked at the greater daemon that had just sneak-attacked him from behind with a hammer, and which now looked utterly terrified, and his brain blue-screened for a moment.

Then a tidal wave of fury set the entire wasteland of skulls ablaze!

"YOU MOTHERFLIPPIN' SON OF A BISCUIT!!!!!!"

Khorne threw a Shoryuken that caught the greater daemon square on the chin.

Humanity had spent forty thousand years without inventing a true faster-than-light drive, but Khorne managed it with a single punch!

Khorne's furious punch launched the greater daemon straight up. It smashed through the ceiling of the Brass Citadel and flew, and flew, and flew at faster than light, off to who knows what dimension or universe.

After that, no one ever saw the greater daemon again. But the thunderclap of its hammer striking Khorne's head truly shook the hearts of daemonkind, and among Khorne's greater daemons it left behind the name of the Fearless One.
