The greater daemon had become a shooting star. It was flying so fast that the images it sent back to Kian and Silentium kept shifting.

Silentium asked, "How long's it going to keep flying like that?"

Kian shrugged.

"Who cares? If it keeps flying like that, we'll never see it again as long as we live. One big headache solved."

Free of his worries, Kian clapped Silentium on the shoulder and went back to his training.

Silentium stayed where he was, his mind starting to turn.

They'd enslaved a greater daemon this time. If Kian hadn't been so against it, Silentium felt they actually could have made some use of it.

Unless...

Meanwhile, what had happened in Khorne's realm had caught the attention of another great power: the Chaos God Tzeentch.

The four Chaos Gods of the Warp were allies, and they also waged war on each other.

Khorne in particular loathed Tzeentch's shameful habit of hiding behind the scenes and playing dirty.

And Tzeentch looked down on Khorne as a meathead who only knew how to solve every problem by brute force and never laid any long game behind the scenes.

The two gods' styles were polar opposites. Each couldn't stand the sight of the other, and each kept tripping the other up.

Kian's scheme to sneak-attack Khorne had delighted the God of Schemes enormously.

It reminded him of the time he himself had used a plot to turn the mightiest of Khorne's greater daemons and sneak-attack Khorne once!

Tzeentch was overjoyed that Kian had used the very same trick he had to land a sneak attack on Khorne!

So his interest in Kian soared. He wanted to make Kian his own, a piece in his collection!

And so, in the most secret depths of the Warp, Tzeentch, God of Deceit and Truth, began quietly working a spell to transport Kian into his own realm.

When Tzeentch started acting up, the whole sea of the Warp began to boil. Inquisitor Trasolh's fleet was sailing through the Warp at that very moment, and the Navigator screamed.

"The Astronomican! The Astronomican's light has been blotted out!!"

The entire fleet was tossed about on the raging sea of the Warp like a lone skiff, and everyone aboard every ship was thrown into a panic.

A giant hand made of Tzeentch's psychic power reached for Kian like the claw of an immaterial claw machine, determined to snatch him away!

Training in his Sanctum, Kian suddenly felt a great terror bearing down on him. He didn't dare make a move.

Just as Tzeentch's giant hand was about to snatch Kian, something unexpected happened.

Golden light burst from the Emperor's Shrine. The Emperor's might erupted out of it and crashed into Tzeentch's power.

The Emperor versus Tzeentch. Their psychic powers collided in a realm ordinary people couldn't see, throwing off a blinding psychic radiance!

Ordinary people couldn't see that psychic light, but the Navigator could.

The third eye on the Navigator's forehead caught the light thrown off by the two gods' contest, and it blinded him. He let out scream after scream and fell from the navigation throne.

The guards around the navigation throne rushed over in a panic. Inquisitor Trasolh clung to a railing on the bridge and roared:

"Emperor above!! Will someone tell me what's happening?! What heavenly law did I break to deserve this?!"

The whole warship was shaking, the screech of grinding metal filled the air, and Inquisitor Trasolh felt like his ship was about to be torn apart!

When gods clash, mortals tremble.

The struggle between those two great powers in the Warp had very nearly reduced an entire human battle fleet to ash!

But the contest hadn't gone on long before Tzeentch quickly lost ground.

Tzeentch had never been a Chaos God known for fighting head-on. Plots and schemes were his home turf.

The Emperor of Mankind, on the other hand, drew on the collective fate of every human on a million worlds. His power was as vast as the ocean, and Tzeentch couldn't begin to match it.

Tzeentch began to pull back, but he wasn't willing to leave empty-handed. While the Emperor's attention slipped, he hurled a psychic storm at Kian!

The psychic storm enveloped Kian precisely and flung his body into an unknown space.

Kian vanished from his Sanctum and fell into a bizarre, kaleidoscopic space. His body kept falling, and he felt like he'd been thrown into a tumble dryer, spinning and spinning and spinning until he passed out.

Tzeentch saw that he'd gotten his way. It hadn't gone the ideal way, with Kian pulled straight before Tzeentch himself, but at least he'd delivered Kian into a world under his control.

"Kehehehehehehehehehehehehe..."

He left behind a villainous cackle and quickly disengaged from the Emperor.

The Emperor's psychic presence checked Kian's position, found he wasn't in danger, and left it at that.

The Old Man was extremely busy, after all. Every day there were countless crises waiting for him to come to the rescue.

In just the few dozen seconds he'd taken to face down Tzeentch and save Kian, thousands of Astartes, tens of thousands of Sisters of Silence, and hundreds of millions of the Emperor's subjects on the brink of death had been begging him for a miracle.

He had to assess and handle those emergencies right away, choosing where to spread his limited power across an unlimited number of calls for help.

Once the two great powers withdrew their might and went their separate ways, the fleet sailing through the Warp grew calm again.

On the bridge of the fleet's flagship.

Inquisitor Trasolh helped the Navigator up. The third eye on the Navigator's forehead was blind now, and blood was pouring from its corner.

Inquisitor Trasolh asked urgently, "How are you? Are you all right? What did you see?"

The Navigator's face was twisted in agony. He spoke haltingly:

"I looked straight into the psychic light from the battle between those mighty beings, and now I'm blind!!

"Before I went blind, I saw the Emperor. He was fighting an evil presence, and all over one man. The Count!"

Inquisitor Trasolh was jolted. He hurriedly sent people to find the Count, but they came back saying the Count had vanished!
