Inquisitor Trasolh's fleet and Inquisitor Bruno's fleet entered the Warp together, bound for the vanished Feudal World 481.

The voyage through the Warp would take about twenty days.

Kian hardly patrolled the ship anymore. He'd discovered that if he made candles from sanctified oil and lit them before the Emperor's Shrine, then once the ship entered the Warp it shone like a little sun, and daemons didn't dare come near!

And if some stronger daemon did push through the burn of the Emperor's psychic light and get close, the honoured dead would take it out!

That's right. The honoured dead!

One crewman reported that a hideous daemon had crawled into the ship and was about to eat him!

Just as he was hanging by a thread, a golden giant suddenly appeared and banished the daemon!

Kian questioned the crewmen who had seen the golden giants in detail and came to a conclusion: it was Captain Doron and the other fallen Astartes!

When Captain Doron died in battle, the Emperor's Shrine had been drifting right overhead aboard the warship, so the Shrine had taken in their souls.

Whenever Kian lit sanctified candles at the Shrine, the slumbering honoured dead would rise and move about.

There wasn't much more to say. Kian could only keep the Shrine fully stocked with candles.

With the honoured dead on duty, daemonic incursions dropped to zero. Kian had nothing to do, so he trained in his Sanctum.

One day, Kian was working on his bench press, trying to break the two-ton barrier, when Silentium burst in in a panic.

"Quit pumping iron for five seconds, dammit! Something huge has happened!"

With one big push, Kian locked out the two-ton barbell, then kipped up to his feet.

"What? What is it?"

Silentium said anxiously, "You remember that daemon we messed with last time? He, he, he..."

Kian caught his nerves.

"He what? He WHAT?!"

Silentium was tearing at his hair.

"He, he, he... argh! Just look for yourself!"

Silentium used a spell to share his Warp-sight with Kian.

The next moment, Kian's vision became that daemon's vision. Whatever the daemon saw, Kian now saw.

Once Kian made out what he was looking at, all he could say was holy crap.

A while back, Kian and Silentium had tormented a Warp daemon with trashy memes. For every other daemon it killed, one short-video screen went away. For every day it didn't kill, one more screen got added.

After they were done messing with it, Kian and Silentium had forgotten all about it. They had no idea what it had been up to since.

Things had been quiet lately, and Silentium had suddenly remembered the daemon. He wanted to check on it, so he'd used a spell to connect to the brand he'd burned into its soul.

And then he'd seen hell!

The little daemon, which used to drift through the formless Warp, had arrived in a solid realm within the Warp!

Blood-red sky, rivers of lava, and across the crimson land, daemons and warp-beasts everywhere, hacking at each other!

The daemons hacked and slew and took each other's heads, so that blood ran in rivers and skulls piled up into mountains!

At the very centre of this wasteland of skulls stood a Brass Citadel that stabbed up into the sky. Inside it were daemon arenas, armouries, and furnaces, where hundreds of millions of daemons dueled and forged weapons.

At the very heart of the Brass Citadel stood the Skull Throne. And sitting on the Skull Throne was one of the four Chaos Gods: Khorne!!

And at that very moment, the little daemon Kian and Silentium had tormented was standing off to the side of the Skull Throne, a little behind it!

When Kian saw where the little daemon was standing, he nearly wet himself.

Holy crap, how did that son of a bitch end up at Khorne's HOUSE?!

Kian froze. Silentium shook his arm.

"Boss, say something! That edgelord on the brass chair, is that the Bandit King of Blade Fort you told me about?!"

Kian wiped the cold sweat off his forehead.

"Steady. Don't panic! First things first... let's write our wills!"

After a bout of flailing panic, the two of them finally calmed down enough to start analyzing the situation.

Kian understood Khorne. Khorne loved a real hard case who just went all out!

His analysis was that the little daemon had been slaughtering other daemons like mad to get rid of the short-video screens and find some peace, and Khorne had noticed.

Now the little daemon's body had changed as well. It was no longer the energy form it used to be. It had become a fully manifested greater daemon!

A powerful body, bulging with muscle, horns on its head, red skin. A textbook Khornate greater daemon.

If it could stand near the Skull Throne and see Khorne in person, it probably held a fairly high rank.

Right now, Khorne was slouched on the Skull Throne, looking bored. His Daemon Princes, his arch-daemons and greater daemons, thousands of daemons in all, were watching two daemons beat on each other in the circular arena below.

Both combatants were huge and massively built. One was the Daemon Primarch Angron. The other was some greater daemon Kian didn't recognize.

The two swung their axes in a blur, each trying to hack off the other's head to please Khorne himself on the Skull Throne.

But Khorne was so unimaginably powerful that a duel at their level couldn't possibly please him. He even yawned.

Khorne, you see, was simply too strong. It had been centuries since he'd felt any real thrill~

Watching the yawning Khorne through the little daemon's eyes, Kian felt his legs start to shake.

This was a being who could wipe out a star system with a wave of his hand. One of the players moving the pieces on the Warhammer 40K board.

He asked Silentium, trembling:

"This... this little daemon we control. Looks like the Bandit King of Blade Fort has blessed it a whole bunch of times, and now it's something serious. Can you still control it?"

Silentium was trembling too.

"Um... uh, so, I just checked. The little daemon's essence has been strengthened, and the shackles I branded onto its soul got strengthened right along with it.

"Same with the three sword wounds you stabbed into it. All three are still there."

Kian thought it over carefully, and then he got it.

The soul brand had become part of the little daemon's essence, and so had the three sword wounds.

When Khorne's blessings strengthened it, they had also strengthened everything that made it furious, made it suffer, and drove it mad!

Take the spell that played short videos inside the little daemon's soul. After the boost, hundreds of thousands of short videos were blaring through its head every second.

Or take the three wounds that would never heal. At first they'd only caused it 10 points of pain. After the boost, the pain value had shot up to one million!
