Villain Extra: Rogue Reader
Chapter 97: Reizen’s End
While the undead student was identified as Reizen by Cowell from a safe distance, Ray was surprised.
"Damn, Reizen as a name? No wonder he died early. It’s not even a generic name to stay safe in such a dangerous world." He shook his head and lamented Reizen’s fate.
Who the hell would remember the name Reizen after a few more Chapters?
Don’t even lie!
Ray could confidently claim he would have forgotten such a character in a heartbeat as soon as a new arc or plot arrived.
"Oh well, I can only compensate Reizen by letting them understand his infamy forever." He muttered.
He felt like he was being very magnanimous toward the deceased Reizen. Infamy was also considered a form of fame and reputation, just not for the better cause.
As he was slightly distracted, the scene at the underground continued to unfold.
"An undead student who could remain sane and communicate. I’m really curious who the culprit behind it was." Leon commented, his eyes trying to analyze the mana around Reizen.
’It’s a necromancy spell, but there’s no foul mana around it. How peculiar is this?’ Things were starting to get more and more weird.
"Necromancy in the Crestellan Academy?" Margaret frowned deeply. She extended her hand and formed a multi-layer formation circle. Each layer illuminated brighter than the previous ones.
Against undead, the best element was naturally its bane: Light Element.
"Whoa, attacking when I’m having a conversation? Do you have any etiquette?" Reizen reacted and sneered.
"Hmph!" Margaret simply snorted and launched the attack.
Unfortunately for her, that time frame was used by Reizen to immediately blink away from his position.
Once he dodged the spell, he unsheathed a dagger from underneath his clothes and targeted Belva.
"DIE!" Reizen smirked and enhanced the dagger with a coat of mana.
"Not on my watch!"
Belva didn’t even need to act when Margaret personally stood in front of her and snapped her fingers.
Soon, a burst of flame shot forth and melted the dagger, including the coated mana, into fine dust.
However, that was only the start of the offense.
Reizen utilized the time she spent on those fancy plays and repositioned himself into the shadows. He turned off the light that illuminated the room while taunting.
"The incident in Moonrock Town must have been a surprise, right? We, Midnight Specters, simply want to send our greetings to the almighty Eighth Circle Mage."
"Midnight Specters?" Leon’s brows furrowed slightly.
He had heard of this notorious organization that had been active in recent years. Their deeds were so vast that it had brought the empire’s attention.
Unfortunately, there weren’t many clues about the Midnight Specters, granted that their magic and spells were unusual and unorthodox.
...
From the safe distance, Ray finally heaved a sigh of relief when he got the chance to drag the Midnight Specters down into the mud.
As arrogant and suspicious as it might sound, the evil organization was known for its unpredictability and eccentric members.
Anyone who knows a thing or two about their members wouldn’t be surprised that they would blatantly expose their organization without qualm.
’Hmm, the first part is done. But what about the last part?’ Ray pondered silently.
The first part revolved around clearing Belva’s suspicion by attacking her specifically and dropping the organization name so the academy would have a direction and a clue to investigate.
The last part was more about throwing dirt at the mole planted by a different organization, but he would point that mole’s direction to William instead.
That way, he would gain Villain Points while informing the academy to enhance their security even further.
This mole was someone Ray still hadn’t recalled, but they were definitely a major focal point at Chapter four.
He was bad with names, and his memories weren’t exactly the best.
Maybe when the Villain Store offered more things to purchase, he could get some clues or hints.
However, he highly doubted he would use the Villain Store to purchase those when there were bound to be better tools for him to work with.
"Ugh, why is a villain’s extra life so hard?’ Ray kicked his legs around slightly in frustration.
It was so hard controlling Reizen and using it as a medium to communicate with the rest. He couldn’t afford to speak in a similar sense to his usual behavior because that would potentially raise suspicion and risk that he was involved.
"Oh, the Principal is making a move." He quickly snapped out of his daze and resumed control of Reizen.
...
Underground Portal
"Hoh, Principal Leonard. I’ve really admired you, but did you know that so many innocent people were harmed because of your incompetence? My friend at Pallet Village lost everything, and it’s all your fault!"
"Ridiculous," Leon stated and grasped the space itself.
Reizen hurriedly tried to blink away, but was locked in place.
"Don’t bother." Leon slowly stepped forward. "I know you’re not really Reizen but a puppet being used. Whatever you say could be a misdirection or a mix of truth and lies. Either way, you’ve picked the wrong opponent to mess with."
"Hehe, you might be right that I’m not Reizen, but my hatred is shared with him. He died for a great cause, and you..." Reizen smirked and lowered his tone so that only Leonard could listen in.
"You’re just an injured man waiting for death."
Leon’s eyes widened slightly. He was just about to interrogate them on where they received that news, but it was a little bit too late.
Reizen’s necromancy was canceled at his moment of distraction.
PLOP!
Like a pool of dirty water, Reizen truly died for the second time. No resurrection or any other possible method could bring him back to life.
"Tsk, they’ve caught me." Leon clicked his tongue when he realized the opponent was rather slick. That moment of shock enabled them to break through his space lock spell and cancel the summon.
...
"Holy fuck! I almost got caught." Ray patted his chest to calm down.
It really was a dangerous game to try to go against someone on Leonard’s level.
