Chapter 96: Say My Name

  • Next Chapter

The undead student quickly went on his knees and greeted.

"I, [Redacted], greet the Master."

"Hmm, redacted again?" Ray raised an eyebrow. "What is your name?"

"I have no name." The undead student responded.

[Once they turn to an undead, they forgo their previous identity. You can give them a name if they qualify for one, but this undead student is too inferior to be qualified.]

’Whoa, that’s a harsh statement, system! You are actually even more heartless than I am.’ Ray gasped and pretended to be shocked by their comment.

"Whatever, no name then no name. I’m sure those professors would call his name out. It better not be Jeff, though." He shrugged and ordered the latter to be stationed here.

Once that was done, he immediately teleported away from the place.

Of course, the continued use of teleportation had strained his mental concentration deeply. Even though he didn’t require mana usage, his mental concentration was severely lacking.

Not to mention, his lazy bum didn’t help increase his stamina.

’Fuck, just how do those transmigrated protagonists train all day and night? It’s just an exaggeration by the author, right? There’s no way anyone can do this all day and still be fine.’ He cursed silently.

While Ray exhausted himself from the teleportation usage, upstairs in the underground, Belva arrived at the entrance and spotted numerous people from outside.

"Where did that bastard go?" Margaret blinked away and instantly closed the gap between them. She didn’t spot Ray anywhere and inquired.

"The Young Master got tired from the investigation and decided to retreat to rest." Belva read the lines she was told to relay. It was very far-fetched and unbelievable. Even she found it hard to believe the statement.

However, Margaret held a biased perspective of Ray and didn’t find anything amiss.

"Hah, he really is something else." Margaret clicked her tongue and fully believed he retreated from exhaustion.

"So did you even go ahead to investigate the underground while I was away?" She questioned coolly.

"We did, but didn’t enter the portal vicinity because we’re afraid of messing things up." Belva nodded and informed them that the guards inside had also been killed.

"So the intruders could still be in the portal?" At this moment, Leon interrupted and asked in a solemn tone. His facial expression remained calm, but anyone could discern the rage brewing within him.

Such a big incident happening right under his nose.

Who could accept that?

’I haven’t been in the academy much lately, and some people are already testing my limits. Did they think my time was up? It seems like I must really give them a piece of my mind.’ Leon was infuriated that people seemed intent on pressing his buttons.

His injuries were heavy, but he hadn’t shown anything to the enemies.

Yet it seemed apparent that they might have known something.

This incident was probably a test of the water for them to check whether he was truly injured or just putting up an act.

"I don’t know." Belva shook her head and explained that she simply stood guard outside to wait for reinforcement.

"Let’s head in." Leon sighed softly. Such a good student was lost by their academy and now worked for someone else.

Ray fleeing the scene to rest?

What a joke that was!

Soon, the group followed behind Leon to enter the underground. Belva wanted to retreat herself too, but was stopped by Leonard.

"You’re in the scene first, so you can give an explanation when we advance forward," Leon said and gestured to Margaret to keep watch on her.

The action implied that Belva might be concealing something from them.

It wasn’t necessarily a claim that she was involved in the incident, but she could definitely do something before their arrival.

Margaret could only pat Belva’s shoulder lightly. Thankfully, only a few professors were in the group, which consisted of her, Cowell, and Clark. The Vice Principal and other professors remained in the auditorium to supervise the welcome ceremony.

Sometime later, everyone followed behind Leon, who personally led the charge.

As they gradually descended the steps, Leon’s aura rose. The mana around him began to fluctuate. It threatened to eliminate all those who dared to stand in his way.

Soon, they arrived at the scene where Belva had committed the murder of one of the students.

’Hmm, where did the other student go?’ Belva widened her eyes in disbelief when the other corpse was nowhere to be found.

Needless to say, her micro-expression change was detected by Leon.

"Have you seen this scene before?" Leon asked her.

"N-No, Principal." She shook her head and answered.

The magic that Leon secretly used to detect lies remained dormant.

’Confession spell didn’t get triggered. Seems like I was overthinking.’ Leon thought Belva might be responsible for the killing of a student in the academy.

Even if they might be the culprit, it was still up to him to decide whether they deserve death. Not to mention, keeping a live suspect was better than having a dead suspect that couldn’t be interrogated any further.

As the Principal, he couldn’t possibly eliminate all variables. Although his wariness of Belva had decreased, he didn’t eliminate her completely from the list of suspects.

Just when Leon was about to advance, his eyes suddenly narrowed.

CLANK!

His passive barrier automatically activated, and Leon turned his sight to the assailant.

"You’re one of the new students admitted to the academy." He uttered and tilted his head. "How did you turn into an undead when all new students should have been at the auditorium?"

"So you don’t even remember who I am either? Say my name!" The undead student screeched.

Leon paused and turned to the others.

How was he supposed to memorize every new student’s name?

Margaret shrugged in response. She was equally clueless about all the new students.

The eyes soon shifted to Clark, who also scratched his head embarrassingly.

’How am I supposed to know? That damned House Viren had been hammering me, alright.’ Clark cursed silently.

"SAY MY NAME!" The undead student roared loudly.

"Student Reizen." Cowell was the one who called them out.

"You’re goddamn right I am!" The undead student smirked coldly when they finally received a name.
