Village System: Blessed With the Duty of Reproduction
Chapter 65: Solan VS Woton
Before Kanan had arrived, Woton and Solan were having a standoff in the air. The chief of the Nemean tribe had just saved two great warriors from certain death in hopes that they could survive their injuries, but in doing so, he stepped onto the battlefield.
"It’s fair game now, Solan." Woton hissed while baring his crooked teeth.
"Stop this, Woton. We do not have to shed any more blood. We can compromise. Do so, and the lives of your people will be spared."
"Hahaha! Compromise with you, Nemean scum? Disgusting." Woton struck first, shooting through the air with his sword covered in green energy.
He swung toward Solan, who raised his club and caught the blade with a thunderous clash. The force sent both Chiefs flying backward, but Woton immediately accelerated with light spirits, appearing beside Solan before swinging again.
Solan twisted away, manipulating gravity around Woton and curving his movement off course before bringing his club down with tremendous force. Woton blocked with his sword, but the impact sent him spiraling through the air.
"Not bad for a wannabe pacifist." Recovering quickly, Woton unleashed a beam of pure light.
Solan bent the beam with gravity, curving it around himself before flying straight toward Woton. Woton increased the speed of the light around his body and slipped through Solan’s gravitational field, appearing behind him and kicking him hard in the back.
Solan plummeted, crashing into the village wall with enough force to shake the wooden structure, but before he could recover, Woton descended upon him.
Their battle continued along the wall, then above it, then back into the air as their weapons and abilities clashed again and again. Woton filled the battlefield with bursts of elemental spirits, while Solan crushed and redirected them with gravity, using the force around himself to make each swing of his club heavier.
The warriors of both tribes could barely look away. Their Chiefs were fighting with a level of power none of them had ever witnessed. But then Woton stopped, and green energy began pouring into him from across the battlefield.
The excess spirit energy he had given his warriors was being ripped away and returned to him, causing his power to surge to an entirely different level.
"What is this?" A Typhon warrior asked
"The power of the spirits; it’s being reabsorbed into our chief!"
"Now, my brothers!" A Nemean tribesman shouted. "Kill them while they’re normal!"
Woton raised his sword and a massive beam of pure light erupted from it, far larger than anything he had used before, and it tore through the air toward Solan—and the village wall behind him.
Solan planted himself against the wall and raised both hands. He knew that if he didn’t stop this attack, the wall would be destroyed, along with some lives in the village.
Gravity rippled around Solan, the ground shook, and the chief of the Nemean tribe took the spirit beam head-on.
The beam bent around him, its tremendous force being redirected away from the village, but Solan was pushed backward inch by inch until his back pressed against the wall.
"Hahahahaha! What’s the matter, Solan? Don’t tell me this is all you’ve got?!" Woton poured everything into the attack while taunting Solan to destroy his morale.
But Solan refused to give up. As chief, it was his duty to protect his home and his people. If he died, then that was the will of the gods, and he would gladly accept it.
Seeing Solan try his hardest to win gave Woton more enjoyment than ever. He dumped more power into his attack, watching his rival get pushed further and further into the wall, inching closer to his death.
"Hahahahahaha! I can’t wait to see you...huh?" Being in tune with the spirits meant that Woton could feel the changes in the spiritual energy that wrapped around his body. So when he felt his power waning, he knew something was wrong.
Solan, too, felt the beam weakening and looked beyond Woton, realizing what was happening.
Kanan was stripping the spirit energy away from him, blood dripping from his mouth and nose as he did so.
A proud smile crossed Solan’s face as he tightened his grip on his club and pushed forward with everything he had until the beam was dominated by his gravitational power.
"What is this?! Who dares strip me of my power?!" Woton traced where his power was being siphoned from and spotted Kanan.
"You! A mere child thinks that he can take what belongs to the Typhon Tribe? I’ll kill you!" Woton lunged at Kanan while moving at high speed, only to be tackled by Solan in the nick of time.
"Well done, Kanan! Leave the rest to me!"
"Garghh! Stop daddling, you fools! KILL HIM!" Woton shouted in anger.
Hundreds of Typhon Warriors marched toward Kanan, who was too busy siphoning Woton’s power to move.
As a sitting duck, he was an easy kill. Unfortunately for them, the whole Nemean Tribe wouldn’t allow that to happen.
"Don’t you dare put a hand on our Shaman!"
"We’ll kill you before you even think of touching Kanan!"
"Protect Kanan, everyone!"
The fight between tribes continued, this time with the intent of protecting Kanan. Each move they made was to ensure his survival, even if it cost them their lives. No one would let the future of the Neneam tribe be lost to this war.
"Pests!" Tagah tore through Neneam tribesmen with ease. He used some as shields, ripped out hearts, and cut off heads.
By his power alone, there was now a path to Kanan, one that he wasted no time clearing. And as he was about to land the finishing blow on the Nemean Shaman, a woman suddenly appeared in front of Kanan, one that he recognized all too well.
"T-Telah?" Tagah said in shock, seeing his fellow tribesman beaten unconscious.
"Gotcha." Using Tagah’s moment of hesitation to her advantage, Nala pierced Tagah’s heart with Telah’s spear, ending him one and for all.
"Cutting it close, huh?" Kanan chuckled.
Nala smiled. "Well, any later and you would have been a goner. I say I arrived just in time."
"You’re right about that. Speaking of arriving just in time—" The accumulated spirit energy Kanan siphoned was now at his disposal, and since there was nothing interfering with his power, he used it to strengthen his tribe once again.
"Give them hell!"
