Chapter 64: Green spirit energy bad! Blue spirit energy good!

Kanan stepped outside to screams filled with blood, cries for help, and the smell of death in the air. He was behind the wall, yet the line of injured warriors, hunters, and guards was enough to tell him what was going on out there.

It took every bit of strength he had to keep himself from vomiting and running back inside. It was only through sheer will, plus the notice on the system that said, ’Lose, and you die’, that he was able to push through and make his way to Yala’s healing hut.

Though Kanan wanted to step outside first, he knew that it would be best to help the Healers and Herbalists first, assuming they would be extremely tired from helping so many people.

As he assumed, the healers and herbalists were severely understaffed and extremely tired. This was also the first time he had seen Yala work so hard that she was sweating.

"Golin," Kanan called out.

"Hmm? Kanan? W-What brings you here?" Golin’s blessing was already being put to use, being blessed with healing abilities at the most recent Blessing Ceremony.

"The spirit energy has waned, and I felt my power weaken. I came to check it out. But after seeing how overcrowded the healing hut was, I came here to help out."

Kanan lifted his hand in the air, and everyone felt a surge of energy blanket their bodies. Healing abilities were strengthened, and the natural healing process of the body was sped up, though it wasn’t visible in real time.

A wave of comfort and relaxation had spread throughout the hut, and those who were screaming in pain could now breathe easily.

"Oh, man. You don’t know how much we needed that. Thank you, Kanan, truly."

Some life had returned to Golin’s previously pale face, and his healing abilities were strong enough to reattach the arm of the warrior he was treating.

"Kanan." Yala had just finished healing her patient when she spotted Kanan at Golin’s side.

"Are you okay, Healer Yala?"

"Yes, thank you. I feel much better thanks to your power, but you are needed out there, where the battle is."

Kanan’s face darkened. "I know. I was headed there before making a quick stop here."

"N-No! D-Don’t go, Shaman Kanan! It’s too dangerous!" A warrior woman managed to get out.

"S-She’s right! Those Typhon bastards will show no mercy! You are the hope of our tribe! Don’t waste your life; let us fight for you!"

All of the warriors agreed with each other. They would rather die than let Kanan fight for them. After so long, there was finally a bright future for their people, and they wouldn’t let that light fade, not one bit.

"I appreciate your concern, but I won’t sit back and watch as you all perish. If I can help, then I will. If I die, then it was as Lord Nemean intended."

Kanan used his power one last time to strengthen the healers and herbalists before heading outside to turn the tide in their favor.

"Kanan! What are you doing here?" Erl and Verl were carrying Selin and Jol on their backs, the two warriors inching closer to death with each passing second.

"There’s no time to explain; send them to the hut now!" To be on the safe side, Kanan shared more power with Selin and Jol before turning his attention to the sky.

He could feel it, the spiritual energy that made his own power weaken. It was concentrated around a person, their enemy.

"He must be the chief of the Typhon Tribe." Kanan assumed. He saw Chief Solan rise into the air to confront the enemy chief; their exchange was brief before they began clashing fists.

He had never seen Chief Solan in a fight, but after feeling the ripple of spiritual energy that tore through the air, he knew that Solan was no weakling.

"But if I don’t do anything, Chief Solan will lose. I have the ability to manipulate raw spirit energy; therefore, I should be able to strip the enemy of the spirit energy they accumulated. That might be harder than it seems, though."

Kanan could do exactly what Chief Woton was doing, but there was one key difference: Kanan’s ability came naturally to him, while Woton had worked hard to develop his. It was like Kanan being able to run because it came naturally to him, while Woton had trained for years to become a runner. No matter how hard Kanan tried, he would never be able to match Woton’s speed.

"So it’s either go big or go home." Kanan channeled his power into his eyes and hands. He needed to see where the spirit energy was, and he needed to grab it once he could locate it.

First, he kept his eyes on Solan and Woton, tracking their fight as best as he could. They moved fast, faster than he could initially process, but things slowed down once Solan started to lose the battle.

It angered Kanan to see his chief get beaten the way he currently was, but there was no time to let his emotions dictate his actions, so he pressed on and continued to reach out with his power.

Ripples of spirit energy continued to blast his way from the battle with the chief. It was that energy that Kanan used to grab and strip away from Woton, but it wasn’t enough.

So, he moved closer.

Each step Kanan took toward Woton and Solan made him feel as if he were walking in sand that reached up to his knees. The spirit energy around them was so dense that it created an invisible barrier around them.

"Nnnghh! C-Come on! Come on! Almost there! I’m so close!" His body started to get cut by whips of spirit energy, blood dripped down his nose, and his eyes were straining from keeping them empowered for too long.

Still, Kanan pressed forward. His bones felt like they were about to snap, and his brain felt like it was about to explode, but that wasn’t enough to stop him.

Then, he felt it: the barrier of spirit energy that wrapped around Woton and the stands of energy that empowered his people.

"Gotcha!" Kanan grabbed the energy and began to tear it to shreds.
