Urban Elf System
34. Not A Bad Loss.
A few hours passed by in a flash and now, Logan had developed a rhythm in his attack.
Thanks to his enhanced elven physique, his body had actively memorised the skills and techniques Odette kept using on him.
This allowed him to block one of her strikes, which had been aimed for his ribs.
Although, he hadn't reacted to her speed in time, still he was able to predict and block where she had aimed to attack, and this certainly didn't go unnoticed by the half-elf.
Odette widened her eyes in surprise but she resumed their spar once again.
And this time, Logan was able to block it a second time.
And then a third time.
But what was even more surprising to Odette was the fact that at one point, Logan suddenly twisted his wrist in the exact same motion Odette had used against him a few minutes ago.
It was the same technique she had used to disarm him, and she had only used it against him once.
But somehow Logan had managed to memorize the technique so quickly, up to the point of boldly using it against her.
Although, he wasn't able to perfectly replicate the technique, still it was close enough to make Odette actually take a step back to reassess him and his growing pace.
'Young master Logan was able to pick up that technique so quickly.'
'It took me almost a year to perfect it nearly as half as he did it right now.'
'Yet, he had only witnessed me use it once and had gotten the trick behind it so quickly.'
'Amazing.'
'Young master Logan is truly amazing.'
'If he keeps improving at this rate, I might actually need to start taking these sessions seriously myself.' Odette muttered internally with a smile on her face before refocusing her attention back to their spar.
However, no matter how much Logan had improved, he was still unable to land a hit on her.
And so their spar continued till the sun rose really high to its highest point.
Now, Logan could be seen on the padded floor.
His chest was heaving heavily and his body was drenched with sweat.
"I yield." Logan wheezed as he stared straight up at the ceiling.
His arms were sprawled out on either side of him as he finally admitted defeat.
After all, he should have expected this to begin with.
This was a woman who had spent years training to become what she was now.
There was no way a rookie like him could suddenly land a real hit on her despite it being his first time holding a wooden sword.
Anyways, Odette approached him and stared down at him with a smile on her lips and her hands on her hips.
"You were amazing today, young master Logan."
"I think the amazing person between us was you, Odette."
"B-but still, you were able to block three of my strikes and even managed to use a few of my techniques against me. That is not something most people could do even after having a full year of training." Odette tried to lift up his mood before squatting down and offering him her hand.
"Thanks, I guess." Logan reached up and allowed her to pull him to his feet.
"Well, I guess it's time I get cleaned up."
"Yes, and please let's hurry before my parents find out."
Odette was certain that if her mom or dad were to see Logan in the state he was right now, they would definitely give her the scolding of a lifetime squeezed into the next couple of hours, and Odette certainly didn't want to receive such treatment.
So she gently held him and pulled him to the bathroom.
Meanwhile, Logan noticed how energetic she was.
As always, he couldn't help but praise how amazing she was.
Despite all those hours they spent together, Odette still looked calm, relaxed and completely not out of breath, unlike him.
This just gingered him to grow stronger quickly and he was prepared to do the necessary work for it.
Anyways, he might have lost the spar, but Logan was genuinely happy about one little thing.
And that was his attributes.

Despite everything that had happened, his stats had really gone up.
Just from sparring.
And looking at it closely, it seemed a few of his stats had increased by three or four points each.
Yes, he hadn't landed a hit on Odette, but staring at his improved stats really made him happy as his lips widened into a grin.
"Hell yeah!!!" Logan shouted loudly before pumping his fist in the air and striding off into the bathroom, completely forgetting how sore his limbs were.
Meanwhile, Odette watched him go whilst shaking her head slightly with a warm smile on her face.
If she was being honest with herself, she'd been a little worried going into today.
Training this hard on his very first real session felt like it might be too much for Logan to handle.
She was even worried she might scare him off from ever wanting to spar with her again.
But watching him disappear down the hallway right now, practically skipping despite undergoing three straight hours of getting hit, made her realise she had nothing to worry about at all.
'Young master Logan adapts faster than anyone I've ever seen.'
'And I'm certain he's going to be very strong soon.'
'I'll do my best to make it so.'
A small burst of pride bloomed in her chest as she couldn't wait to spar with him again very soon.
'Oh, that's right.'
'I almost forgot.'
Odette immediately pulled out her phone, then she scrolled through the handful of pictures she'd secretly snapped of Logan earlier.
These were pictures of him being red-faced in embarrassment, drenched in sweat, and even sprawled flat on his back on the dojo floor.
Seeing how handsome he was in these pictures really made her smile at the screen for a long moment before finally typing out a short message and hitting the word "send".
Meanwhile, miles away from where Odette and Logan were, Rowena was behind the wheel of her Aston Martin, cruising smoothly toward her destination.
But then, her phone buzzed once on the passenger seat, and at the next red light, she glanced down at the notification lighting up the screen.
It was a picture of her son, absolutely wrecked and sprawled out on a training room floor like he'd just lost a war.
The sight was truly heartwarming.
To see her son working really hard to protect her and become strong just like her made her feel really really really happy in ways even she couldn't begin to comprehend.
Rowena's lips curved into a soft, amused smile as she muttered softly to herself.
"That's my boy."
But then, the light turned green, and she set the phone back down before driving off toward her destination.
