Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1860: The General’s Request to Louis
The new King is approachable and a doctor, with a healer’s compassionate heart.
Lorelei’s gaze fell upon the General, knowing he was his father’s benefactor, having saved his life once. He had done his homework on the royal relationships.
Therefore, he naturally showed more respect to General Vance than he would to ordinary people, "General, please come in."
The middle-aged man bowed to him again, organizing his thoughts in his mind, then followed him into the resplendent palace.
Lorelei walked directly into the study, General Vance followed closely behind, bringing him into the study to show the level of importance he placed on him.
The servants offered tea and then left, without closing the door.
"Please have a seat, General," Lorelei said respectfully, with a gentle smile on his face.
"Thank you, King."
The two sat together in the chairs, the Earl Grey tea on the sandalwood table emitting a faint aroma, steam swirling, yet General Vance’s face was full of worry, unsure of how to start.
"What’s the matter?"
Lorelei immediately sensed he had something on his mind and gently said, "There are no outsiders here, General, feel free to speak."
"I have a daughter named Winnie," the middle-aged man looked up and spoke emotionally, "She suffers from depression, and has attempted suicide several times. Fortunately, she was discovered and saved by the servants."
Lorelei held the teacup and met his gaze, patiently listening without interruption, feeling a father’s concern and helplessness.
Depression is also an illness.
"Recently, she has been much better, and a big reason is your presence."
This made Lorelei slightly startled and puzzled, "My presence?"
"Yes," General Vance nodded affirmatively and spoke boldly, "Winnie likes you; she fell for you at first sight."
Lorelei had no impression of this girl and didn’t even know what she looked like.
"She feels you are the only beam of light in her dark life, so... could you... could you marry her?"
When those words fell, Lorelei was shocked, once thinking he had misheard!
Lorelei thought the General would ask him to treat his daughter!
He was even more shocked when General Vance knelt down before him, knocking his head on the ground several times.
The General said, "King, in Lorelei, the law allows polygamy, as long as you agree, my daughter can be saved."
Lorelei asked without thinking, "If all depressed women in the world like me, do I have to marry them all?"
"..." The General was left speechless by the quick retort.
Lorelei’s heroic brows slightly furrowed, but his tone remained calm and gentle, "The law only permits, but doesn’t compel. You may rise; there is no room for negotiation on this matter."
General Vance looked up, not expecting such a straightforward refusal, without any consideration for appearances.
Isn’t it said that healers have compassionate hearts?
It doesn’t contravene the law, so why won’t he agree?
Just a nod would save his daughter!
The gaze of the two men met, Lorelei sat in the chair with a firm attitude, appearing helpless, "General Vance, I understand your love for your daughter, but you also have personal motives, which must be acknowledged."
Doctors understand psychology; General Vance felt a slight constriction in his chest, still kneeling before him.
"Please rise first," Lorelei’s voice was calm and gentle, without causing the other party embarrassment, "Earl Grey should be drunk while it’s hot, sit down."
After three seconds, General Vance slowly stood up and awkwardly sat back in the chair.
