“So, Third Brother should make it up to her, dote on her twice as much.”
“But why did Melody only say she’s holding a press conference to announce Ian’s parentage? She’s not mentioning Third Brother at all.”
“Think about it. She raised their son all by herself for this long. You think he can just show up and play dad? It’s not that easy.”
“That’s true!” Noelle Grant nodded immediately. “So, for this whole thing, are we just going to…?”
“We’re going to keep watching the show!”
“You’re so bad! But I think Melody and Third Brother’s story is just like something out of a novel or a TV show. It’s so romantic!”
“And our relationship isn’t romantic?”
“After having kids, I really can’t feel the romance anymore.”
Evan Fairchild: …
“I’m going to go check upstairs. It’s rare to see that boy of ours studying so hard.” Noelle Grant headed for the stairs.
She tried her best to keep her steps light, afraid of disturbing her hard-at-work son.
She gently pushed open the door to the study.
Suddenly, the sound of snoring drifted into her ears.
There was no one at the desk. Instead, she saw Liam Fairchild lying on the sofa. The book that had been in his hand was on the floor, a trail of drool ran from the corner of his mouth, and one snore followed another.
Noelle Grant felt her head spin.
‘I can’t… I can’t breathe.’
‘Looking at this is giving me a heart attack!’
‘Studying hard? Was I dreaming?’
…
After dinner, Ian Monroe was still thinking about the day’s events.
“Rose, is it really going to be okay for Mom to publicly announce our relationship?”
“Trust me, it’ll be fine. I said some things before, but you can forget all of that now. Your mom has your dad to protect her, so the things I was worried about before won’t happen anymore.”
“So it’s all thanks to my dad,” Ian Monroe said, a little disheartened.
‘I wish I could grow up faster.’
“During the press conference, some people might ask you questions, but you don’t need to be scared.”
“I’m not scared at all.”
“Good. I know you’ll do a great job.”
“Auntie Rose, will you be there?”
“Of course I’ll be there. And I’ve decided I’m going to help your mom manage her studio. A person can’t just be idle all the time, you have to find something to do. I’m going to sell my house in Rockwellburg and buy a new one here in Jansburg.”
“Then we can be neighbors!”
“Oh, you sweet thing, we can’t be neighbors! There’s no way I could afford a house in this neighborhood. But I’ll come visit you often, how about that?”
“Okay!”
“I have to go now.”
“Goodbye, Auntie Rose.”
Ian Monroe walked Rose Shaw all the way to the door before turning to go back inside.
Reassured by Rose Shaw’s words, he finally relaxed. He ran straight upstairs to the study and took out his tablet.
“What does a press conference look like?”
He was very curious.
After he typed in the question, the webpage filled with images and videos.
Ian Monroe watched carefully. His reading had improved to the point that he had no trouble understanding the news reports. After scrolling for a while, he more or less understood.
“So, this is what a press conference is.”
He picked up Bunny, who had been curled up at his feet, and set the pet on his desk.
“Bunny, tell me, why does Mom have to apologize to everyone for having me? Isn’t this just between her and me? Why does anyone else get to have a say?”
“GRUNT GRUNT!” Bunny snorted twice.
“You think it’s wrong, too, don’t you? Is this what Dad meant by ‘the adult world’?”
