Transmigrated as The Best Female Character of the Year
Chapter 532: Others Blacklist, You Obliterate
Jasper Rockwell nearly choked. He set down his snacks, dusted off his hands, and leaned back on the sofa.
He was so mad he could barely breathe.
"Evan Fairchild, there’s nothing wrong with me in *that* department! I just haven’t met the right person yet."
"Mm-hm," Evan Fairchild hummed nonchalantly.
"Are you even listening?!"
"I’m listening." Evan Fairchild nodded. "I just don’t believe you."
"Pfft!" Jasper Rockwell flopped back onto the sofa with a dramatic gasp, thumping his chest. "I get it! You don’t want me here, so you’re deliberately trying to provoke me into leaving! Well, let me tell you, it won’t work. Say what you want. I’m staying for this meal, and that’s final!"
"Suit yourself."
It was just the two of them in the living room now, so Jasper Rockwell decided to change the subject.
"That business with Aya Winters... did you handle that yourself? So ruthless! The worst thing that usually happens in showbiz is getting blacklisted, but you went and straight-up erased her! And wasn’t she supposed to be collaborating with Starfall?"
"Where’d you hear that?"
"Online."
"The internet is also full of rumors about your epic bromance with Zane Langdon."
"Pfft!" Jasper Rockwell felt like he’d taken another critical hit. "Why are the fans these days so impossible? And why are their tastes so out there?"
Evan Fairchild said nothing, simply brewing a cup of tea and drinking it himself.
Seeing that Evan had no intention of making him any, Jasper Rockwell immediately brewed a cup for himself.
Even though Melody Monroe was upstairs in the study doing her homework, she was still a bit worried about what was happening downstairs, so she snuck to the landing to peek down.
When she saw Evan Fairchild and Jasper Rockwell chatting amiably in the living room, she felt relieved and headed back upstairs.
’This is actually pretty nice,’ she thought. ’Having a guest visit often makes the house more lively.’
She didn’t understand why Evan Fairchild was so reluctant to get close to people; it seemed he was distant even from his own family.
’Then again, I guess you have to blame the original author for creating a character like that.’
...
"Everything’s ready, Rose. Time to eat." Keith Coleman came out of the kitchen, carrying the four dishes and a soup he had just finished preparing.
Rose Shaw walked over to the dining table. "This is so much food for just two people. Isn’t it a waste?"
"It is a bit much," Keith admitted. "But... I guess I was just too eager to impress." Seeing the look on Rose Shaw’s face, he quickly added, "Right, I’ll shut up now. Let’s eat."
Rose Shaw sat down at the table, taking the chopsticks Keith Coleman handed her.
Keith immediately put some food into her bowl.
Rose Shaw took a bite. Meeting Keith’s expectant gaze, she nodded. "It’s delicious."
Keith Coleman let out a sigh of relief, a grin spreading across his face like a happy child’s.
Rose Shaw found his smile infectious. Keith had beautiful eyes. ’If he wore a formal tailcoat,’ she mused, ’he would look just like an elegant, aristocratic gentleman.’
"Here, have some more."
"Don’t just keep putting food in my bowl. You eat, too."
"Watching you eat my food... it makes me really happy," he said. "I haven’t felt this happy in a long time. It reminds me of when it was just my mom and me. We were poor, but when she came home exhausted from work, I’d have dinner ready for her. I only knew how to make simple things back then, but she always ate so happily. She used to say my cooking was the best food she’d ever had."
A pang of sorrow shot through Rose Shaw’s heart.
Keith had been completely open with her about his past. And while she couldn’t truly feel his pain, she could imagine just how difficult his days must have been after he went abroad.
