Chapter 417 - 415: I’m Marrying a Wife, Not Looking for a Business Partner

’Talk about a slap in the face.’

Evan Fairchild suddenly let go of Melody. He walked over to a cabinet, pulled open a drawer, took out his family register, and placed it in her hands.

"This..."

"You keep this. I’ll be ready whenever you make your decision. It doesn’t matter to me whether your name is added to my family register or mine is added to yours."

Melody Monroe: ...

Holding the family register, she felt as if it weighed a ton.

’He’s serious!’

’He wants to marry me!’

She looked up at Evan Fairchild, a lump forming in her throat. A bittersweet feeling burned in her heart.

’I must have saved the Milky Way to be able to marry Evan Fairchild!’

But a deep-seated sense of inferiority whispered to her.

’I don’t deserve him.’

"You want to marry me... shouldn’t you discuss it with your family first?" Melody Monroe asked quietly.

"My marriage is my business alone. You’re marrying me, not the Fairchild Family. Are you worried about something?" Evan Fairchild sensed her hesitation.

"Your wife should be someone from a good family, someone who’s outstanding in every way... not someone like me."

"Am I looking for a wife, or a business partner?"

His question left Melody Monroe speechless.

"Do you want to meet my family first?"

"No! That’s not it!" Melody Monroe refused at once. "That’s really not what I meant."

"It’s all up to you."

Hearing Evan Fairchild’s words, Melody Monroe’s heart felt like it was boiling over. She glanced down at the family register in her hands, her mind a swirl of complicated emotions.

"Can you... give me some more time?"

’I need to become a better person.’

’I can’t change where I come from, but there are so many other things I can change.’

’Even if, no matter how hard I try, I can never be his social equal, I can still make myself more worthy of him!’

"Take all the time you need. I’ll wait."

"Okay," Melody Monroe nodded, leaning into Evan Fairchild’s embrace.

"If you’re not comfortable telling Ian, I can do it," Evan Fairchild said softly, wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

"I..."

"He has to know eventually. Otherwise, what will he think of us being like this?"

Melody Monroe thought Evan Fairchild had a point. They couldn’t keep sneaking around forever, always shutting themselves behind closed doors!

’Ian is so perceptive; he’s bound to notice something.’

"Okay." She gave a slight nod.

A triumphant glint flashed in Evan Fairchild’s eyes.

’Even if I can’t announce to the world that she’s mine, at least I can finally hold my head high in front of that little rascal, Ian Monroe, and be a father out in the open!’

This small change was enough to make Evan Fairchild feel incredibly satisfied!

’She may not have accepted my proposal right away, but at least she didn’t reject me outright like last time.’

’Even if she isn’t completely in love with me yet, even if there’s still someone else in her heart, I believe that sooner or later, she will be mine.’

’Completely and utterly mine.’

...

Wayne Payne stormed into Rose Shaw’s office and slapped a folder down on her desk.

"What’s the deal with this twenty million?"

Didn’t Rose Shaw know how important post-release marketing was for a movie?

And yet, she had gone and slashed twenty million right out of the marketing budget.

Especially since President Sterling had recently invested over a billion to compete with Starfall, meaning the company’s resources were more than abundant.
