Chapter 385 - 383: You’ve Stolen My Heart

Keith Coleman noticed that Rose Shaw was constantly holding a lighter. Smoking was a habit for her; it wasn’t something she could just quit on a whim. It was clear she was fighting a powerful urge to smoke.

"Isn’t it exhausting, changing yourself for someone like this?"

Rose Shaw froze, then ignored his question. "Your President Fairchild really went over the top today."

"He must feel like he was a useless teammate and wants to make up for it."

"You’ve got some nerve, talking about him like that behind his back."

"I’m just talking to you. You won’t sell me out, so these words will never reach President Fairchild’s ears." Keith Coleman looked at Rose Shaw and added, "You and Felix Hughes are from two different worlds. Being with him will only make your life exhausting and difficult."

Rose Shaw’s brow furrowed. She had deliberately changed the subject, not wanting to discuss it further, yet Keith Coleman had managed to steer the conversation right back.

"He loves me very much. He can accept everything about me." She decided to stop avoiding the subject. If Keith Coleman wanted to talk about it, she would face him head-on.

’She didn’t know why she had felt such a strong urge to avoid his questions.’

’Why was she running away?’

"You’re lying. If he could accept everything about you, why would you be quitting smoking for him?"

Rose Shaw: ...

"Today it’s smoking, tomorrow it’s drinking. Are you just going to completely transform into the person he wants you to be?"

"Isn’t it a good thing for a woman to marry a man who loves her and become a good, supportive wife?"

"You’re an enchantress. You’re not destined to be anyone’s ’good, supportive wife.’ You just steal men’s hearts, making them fall at your feet, ready to offer up their very souls."

"Keith Coleman, what does any of this have to do with you?!" Rose Shaw demanded angrily.

"Of course it does! You stole my heart!" Keith Coleman shouted back.

Rose Shaw: ...

Keith Coleman frowned. ’What the hell did I just say!?’ He wanted to explain himself, but he couldn’t get a single word out. Instead, he felt a strange sense of relief.

It was as if he’d finally said the words he’d been holding back for so long.

Neither of them spoke. The atmosphere was a little awkward.

Rose Shaw silently pulled out a cigarette.

The familiar scent of tobacco calmed her down and soothed her anxiety.

"Felix Hughes and I are getting engaged next month. He accepts me, all of me. I just want to find a stable person and live a normal life."

’Engaged?’

It felt like a cat’s claws were scratching at Keith Coleman’s heart.

"’Stable?’ You just want a stable life, you’re not actually looking for a stable person. Why don’t you believe that I can give you that kind of life too?"

"Can you afford to?" Rose Shaw shot back with a smile. "We’re the same, you and I. You saying you can give me a stable life is the same as me saying I’m quitting smoking for Felix Hughes. It’s the same principle."

Keith Coleman was speechless, unable to utter a single word.

Rose Shaw finished her cigarette, started the car, and headed toward the hot spring resort.

She had booked a room there long ago. Even though she sometimes just roughed it for a night with the production crew or in the van, she had never canceled the reservation.

Today, it was finally coming in handy.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t even have a place to stay.

When Keith Coleman went to the front desk, there were no rooms left. "I couldn’t get a room."

"Just stay in my room tonight," Rose Shaw offered generously.

"Rose, you’re the one who invited me."

"Uh-huh. And if you get any funny ideas, I just might force-feed you toilet water until you’re full."

Hearing this, Keith Coleman immediately shuddered.
