Chapter 87: See Us Off

’’Quickly, let’s carry her away from here and take her home,’’ Stylie said, reaching quickly to lift Corrine from the bed, while Berry held on to her phone and tried to help as well.

Before Stylie could touch a single strand of hair on her head...the whole room flooded with lights. And both girls froze like thieves caught in the act of breaking in.

They were able to see the entire room clearly and make sense of the layout and interior. Beside a corner, a demon watched them as they tried to steal from him.

Berry blinked, her eyes widening in surprise at the sight of him.

’’Grim?’’

He was here the whole time?!

Why didn’t he say anything or answer when they called out his name repeatedly.

Stylie climbed out of the bed and froze at the sight of him. Her eyes wide and full as she stared at his form sitting tiredly and exhausted behind a desk working.

’’Grim!’’ Berry cried out in relief before moving over quickly to his side to check if he was fine.

Stylie gulped as one eye moved over to where her boss lay.

’’Oh my god, what happened to you? Are you alright? What happened?’’

His eyes softened at his second favourite human who seemed to genuinely care about him. He nodded and gave her a small smile as she leaned on the table and gazed down at him in worry. His eyes moved to make sure no one sneaked in to take his love away from him again.

’’It was just a small accident,’’ he explained while rising to his full feet. ’’I found her collapsed outside the offic and brought her here immediately for treatment. But she is fine now.’’

He said as they both moved closer to the bed.

’’I thought I’d let you three know about it since you are her closest family that I know of. But she is being treated and will suggest she stays here for some time until she is fully recovered.’’

He blinked as that wasn’t convincing enough.

His deep, brown gaze moved before saying again, ’’The physicians advised that she remain here until she’s fully recovered. I have been keeping her here safe and sound. You all have nothing to worry about and are more than welcome to visit her whenever you wish.’’

Berry nodded her head quickly in understanding and quick to believe his words.

’’No problem, Grim. I trust you and you must have been so tired looking after her for days. Now that we are here and know that she is safe and well under your care, we would be visiting everyday to help lift your burden a bit.’’

’’Thank you!’’

Grim smiled, but it wasn’t a sincere one as he noticed the absence of the other one.

’’Where is...’’

’’Oh, Lin? He is resting in the main room. Exhausted from taking the stairs a while a go.’’

His frown deepened as he heard that they climbed the stairs to reach him.

’’The stairs?’’

Berry blinked, parting her lips briefly as she didn’t know how to explain to him for him to understand. How would he believe them if she told him they probably encountered a skin walker on their way here in his own home.

’’Oh, it’s nothing. Just a minor inconvenience. But we are fine. You have nothing to worry about,’’ she flashed him a reassuring grin and Grim knew it wouldn’t be that hard to keep her here with him forever.

Only that...

His eyes moved and locked with hers.

Stylie’s stomach dropped to the bottomless pit. A shiver rattled her spine as she felt her heartbeat slowed when he directed his gaze suspiciously at her.

It was so intense and so unlike him that she...

’’H–hi...Grim?’’

She managed a smile but she couldn’t tell what made her so uneasy the most.

His intense eyes that revealed the truth or...

She stared down at her Boss again and noticed how her hand tightened again without moving any other part of her body.

’’Well, it’s getting late now. We should probably leave and return here very early in the morning and spend the whole day with her, right Grim?’’

Grim blinked and turned to Berry and nodded with a smile. A smile that disturbed Stylie a lot. Her fingers tightened around the bedsheets...almost as if she was begging them not to leave even in her sleep.

Or was she even asleep and safe here?

’’We would be here first thing in the morning with you Grim with fresh clothes for her to change into and all. Let’s go, Stylie and let’s not disturb Boss’s rest.’’

Stylie gulped again. If only she was close enough to see what she was seeing.

But she can’t just leave her Boss like this and wait until tomorrow to save her! Who knows what might have happened to their boss before today and tomorrow.

She had already lost her once. She would hate to lose her again.

She either has to save her now or create an opportunity for her to escape and meet with them outside. She also has to do it in a way that wouldn’t make him suspicious. She felt like their boss probably didn’t feel that comfortable to be here and probably scared to even show that she was awake.

Oh god...What really happened...?

’’Stylie, let’s go,’’ Berry urged her cluelessly, blinking when it took long enough for her to move an inch away from the bed.

Then, as if God himself was on her side to get Boss out of here, an idea came to her.

She smiled.

’’You saw us out the last time we came here, Grim. I would feel bad and unwelcomed if you let us return without you seeing us out.’’

Berry’s eyes moved in surprise at Stylie’s unreasonable words. But her smile and confidence, even while he watched her like he wanted to swallow her whole was true bravery.

I will get you out of here, no matter what Boss. And whatever you have gone through will be avenged by me surely.

She gave him a questioning look when he did nothing but glare at her. The first time she would see him be this hostile to her. He wasn’t like this the last time they met.

Yes, she remembered it all and refused to believe she imagined those moments.

’’Grim?’’

If looks could kill, Stylie had no chance to walk out of there alive.

But she did.

He had no choice but to agree. Afterall, they were his friends and he would hate to make them feel bad or unwelcomed.

He nodded his head and Stylie waited until he left behind Berry before stepping out of the room as well, making sure that the door wasn’t closed behind them.
