Lin was right.

They did make it to the top floor by taking the stairs instead, although by the time they arrived at the final flight of stairs, they were all on the floor, crying and moaning in pain.

’’I can’t feel my legs,’’ Lin cried out as he rolled on the ground and sobbed out like a child. Berry only gasped heavily beside him, her hands on her stomach and it felt as though they had just survived a twelve-hour jumping-jack session in a poorly ventilated gymnasium.

What surprised them most was that Stylie didn’t even stop to catch her breath like them and continued marching towards where Grim stayed.

’’Uh?’’ Lin cried out as he watched their little blonde go like she was some wonder woman who could survive another go up and down that everlasting stairs. Even Berry was amazed by her endurance and it encouraged them to get it together and get up quickly.

Supporting one another, they staggered after Stylie with tears in their eyes and limped together behind Stylie who was already halfway down the exclusive corridor.

’’We should exercise more, don’t you think?’’

Berry gulped and nodded. Even with her exclusive gym membership, it should have still been impossible for her to survive climbing that many stairs in such a short period.

’’I can invite you over to my cousin’s gym for free. What do you say?’’

Lin nodded his head as sweat poured down his face and stained his shirt, clinging onto his sassy fruit as she helped him reach the door alongside Stylie.

’’What’s the passcode?’’ Stylie asked quickly without wasting a second. Berry gently eased Lin from her shoulder before coming close to swipe in the passcode of the door. It opened after a few swipes and taps. She wondered how she was still able to remember it after everything.

Stylie wasted no time in entering, ignoring the two that lagged behind, helping each other to stand on their feet.

’’Boss!!’’ Stylie’s voice cut through the silence and emptiness of the polished living room as soon as she was in. Her eyes wandered nervously for any sign of their boss.

Where she was and if she was indeed fine?

They had been worried when she didn’t show up to work for three days straight and tried reaching out to Malachi, the date she should have been with last but he was also unreachable and not present at work for some days now.

They were about to inform LAPD concerning their Boss mysterious disappearance when a tall being in dark suits and the deepest, sexiest shade of green eyes no one has ever seen walked up to them and told them their Boss had a small heart attack and was saved quickly by Grim. She was now safely in his penthouse, recovering and asked when they would be free to pay her a visit and he would send a car over to pick them all up and drive them here.

’’Put me, put me down on that chair for a moment,’’ Lin said quickly as Berry carried him in. She nodded quickly and placed him down gently on the sofa and Lin let out a huge sigh of relief and moan in satisfaction.

Stylie was actively running about, looking everywhere for their boss and Berry joined as well, feeling the fear creeping in as well when there was no sign of their boss or Grim anywhere.

A heart attack?

Berry blinked as she searched everywhere alongside Stylie.

What could have made the boss suffer a heart attack? Could it have been from overworking?

’’Grim! Boss! Grim!’’

Their constant shouts and noise irritated the hardworking bean that was already fast asleep on the soft and comfy leather chair. He frowned slightly and opened his eyes and said, ’’Just check the bedrooms and stop running around, please.’’

Stylie and Berry paused from checking the silver cupboards of the bar to stare in annoyance at their hardworking bean. They ignored him before nodding to each other to check all the rooms.

’’Boss! Grim!’’

Lin shook his head and made himself more comfortable on the sofa.

’’Boss! Grim—!’’

They approached one of the largest doors in the house and paused at how weird and ridiculously expensive the door looked up close. They turned to each other once again and nodded before pushing it open slowly.

Berry entered first and Stylie peeked over her shoulder as they lingered at the entrance, their hearts racing wildly in their chest in fear at the darkness that greeted them.

His hands moving over the book paused.

Golden eyes like the burning sun flickered up in alarm at the strange scent he picked up and the sound of two racing heartbeat.

He turned and looked towards the door. His eyes glazed through the darkness as he made out two figures hiding behind the door. His eyes darkened into murderous slits at the creatures sneaking into his den.

He hissed, turning off the lamp at his desk and blended into the dark.

He would tear them apart the moment they were close enough and within his reach.

’’Can you make out anything?’’ Stylie asked and Berry nodded that her eyes weren’t that sharp to see a thing in here.

’’Maybe Boss is in here or Grim. Turn on your phone light and lets look.’’

’’Okay,’’ Berry brought out her iphone and switched on the flashlight and tip-toed away from the door.

The room was enormous—larger than Berry’s entire apartment. It was wide and cold like the surface of a marble.

Their breaths became visible as the temperature dropped the deeper they ventured inside, staying close to each other as they were led by Berry’s flashlight. Soon, Stylie switched on hers as well and they were able to make out a few pieces of furniture, the large and luxurious open windows that gave a slight view of the world below and then...the large king sized bed.

Berry and Sylie gasped at the sight of someone resting peacefully on the dark sheets and tucked in underneath the dark covers.

’’Boss!’’ They hissed quietly together.
