He...marked her?

Azazel’s forest–green gaze shifted from the human sleeping peacefully on the bed to the ancient being watching over her like a crazed hawk.

Azazel couldn’t understand what had led His Highness to mark her.

She was only human, for crying out loud!

Her days had been numbered from the moment she was born!

Why was he still...

Still...

The demonlord couldn’t just understand. He stared at Ichor once again and his eyes widened slowly in alarm at the calm, yet obsessive look he gave the poor girl.

His Majesty was no longer himself.

Maybe he didn’t truly love or care for her.

Perhaps he simply wanted to possess her.

But if that was simply the case, he wouldn’t be this sensitive to her well-being. He wouldn’t have raced so much to his room the moment he overheard that she was conscious. Hell, he was still recovering from exhausting nearly all his strength. Yet it seemed the only cure he needed was for her to open her eyes again.

It felt like...

Azazel’s eyes fluttered as he watched him move enough to adjust the blankets he covered her with throughout the day and night. He was so gentle with it as if afraid of doing anything wrong and she would be dead again.

Azazel couldn’t find the right word to describe whatever was going on between them.

But Azazel wasn’t slow enough to know that as long as this human existed, their prince would never remain the same again and be completely under her control.

Whatever evil spell this human had used on their prince to be this way....

Azazel’s tight grip hardened the more in determination.

He was going to do whatever he can to break that evil spell and once he was free, they were all returning to Hell.

Azazel stared at his prince once more, feeling his unshaking loyalty and dedication towards the heir of the throne rise and reach a peak.

Don’t worry, Your Royal Highness. You have suffered just enough so you could be loved genuinely and have someone to call yours. Enough is Enough.

His gaze burned with determination on the little mortal witch sleeping peacefully on the bed without a single care of how hard his prince was fighting for her attention.

You deserve so much more than a mortal witch controlling and stealing your peace. If you cannot see beyond her spell, then I shall become your eyes. And free you from this bondage hiding under the pretense of love.

Azazel nodded to himself, already planning and sorting out many ideas in his head on how to make that happen.

’’Azazel,’’

The demon answered by turning fully towards the prince.

’’Yes, Your Highness.’’

’’Did you bring what I asked you to bring?’’

Azazel swallowed before nodding his head. With a quick wave of his hand, a thin grey-colored folder appeared and floated with the aura of Azazel’s magic surrounding it. Grim’s gaze flickered over to the thin grey-colored folder he once risked everything to get for her.

He remembered telling Azazel about it when he was recovering from his shock and ordering them and his elite demons to find the document and bring it to him at once.

He took the piece of document and Azazel’s magic around it died and the demonlord stepped back a bit when the prince of hell rose from the bed.

’’Have you been able to reach out to the people I told you to track down for me?’’ he asked, while going through the folder for the first time since he retrieved it. His gaze softened at the sight of her handwriting and the tiny notes scribbled along the margins. He read down her ideas for the contest and took note of everything in a single glance.

’’Yes, Your Majesty. A car is already prepared and on its way to bring them over. They should be here in half an hour.’’

Grim said nothing but moved over to a desk and a chair prepared already by some demons. He sat behind the desk neatly arranged at the corner of his room and beside one of the glass walls that gave an ethereal view of the world below.

The sky was still dark and grey.

It might rain again tonight.

Grim placed the folder on top of the desk and Azazel stared at him but scared to ask what he planned to do with the document.

’’What about the thing I also asked you to inquire about...?’’ Grim continued as he picked up a dark pen with blood red ink. His right hand moved as he flexed his fingers, preparing to write.

’’O–oh,’’ Azazel began, turning fully to answer the prince. ’’Yes, I did find out more information about it and apparently the contest deadline is about five days from now, Your Majesty.’’

He paused, raising his eyes in concern from the document he was reading through. His golden eyes moving in worry at that information before landing softly on the human that slept on his bed.

He sighed out softly, not wanting to feel discouraged by it.

He can do it.

He can do anything for her.

What was this? He just managed to bring her back from the dead? How is writing a full story for her sake to submit to a contest she cared so much about difficult than bringing her back to life?

’’Alright. You may leave,’’ he dismissed and got to work immediately. Azazel’s green gaze softened on him. His lips parting in slight disbelief. Then he turned to the human on the bed, his gaze hardening down on her once more.

She really isn’t worth all this much trouble.

He would break her neck if after everything, his prince remained lonely while starving for her affection.

To him, she was his only hope of being loved and accepted regardless of what he was.

But to her...

His eyes glared hatefully at the human in the dark.

He was probably just one annoying thing she wishes to control, use and break at the end of the day.

But I won’t wait until you succeed and hurt my master.

Azazel concluded within him before becoming a shadow of the earth and left.

The room was dark and silent as Grim got to work.

To give her a better life this time, he has to start doing something first. Putting revenge aside, he thought of securing her a grand comeback. Her soul was his now and he was the one who called her back to continue an existence she despised. So, he has to do whatever he can in his power to make the resurrection worth it.

He would start first by reviving her career and adding more meaning to her dream.

He has stayed long by her side to understand how much it means to her to succeed.

He stared at her again and thought it would be impossible for her to make that happen in her current state.

He flipped open to a fresh page and began to write. The tip of the pen moving gently on the lines drawn on the pages of the book.

So, he was going to make it happen for her. Secure her win in this contest and make it impossible for her to be ignored ever again.

He was going to make that breakthrough happen for her no matter what.

No.

Third person pov.

Much better than first.

He tore the page and began to write again.

Making her extremely successful this time in this life, without anybody’s help or sympathy will be one of the many things he was going to make happen now that she was completely his and bound to him for life.

In a far distance, the sky bellowed in agreement as he continued to write the story in silence.

’’Hurry.’’

Berry urged her workmates struggling to keep up behind her.

The moment they were driven to the estate and they all got down from the vehicle with their passes this time, they raced down the huge lobby of the building and straight for the long rows of golden elevators that will take them up to the prince’s mansion.

Berry and Stylie were waiting nervously for the doors of the elevator to open and Lin stood behind them, brushing his hands through the silky strands of his hair.

’’How long is it gonna take?’’

’’Should we look for the stairs instead?’’ Stylie turned to Berry with the suggestion. Her eyes wide in impatience as the elevator took forever to answer their call when it was only just a few seconds since they called for it.

Berry was about to suggest they take the stairs when their hearts skipped at the sound of the doors opening.

They paused, falling back in shock at the sight of the seven foot being waiting in the elevator already. He was so tall and slender. Pale and looking so unreal they wondered if he was moving. Their eyes were so wide at the creature in horror. He was putting on a dark suit and his colorless gaze stared down on them briefly in confusion.

Lin, feeling protective of his girls, placed himself quickly between them and the creature. The creature’s large, bulgy gaze moved down on the human male in confusion before asking, ’’The— top—floor? Are–you—going—up—or... not...’’

Stylie was the only one that stared at the creature in disbelief while the others looked terrified and visibly shaken by the creature’s distorted speech that tried so hard to resemble the one of humans.

’’....humans?’’

Its eyes moved again as if it wasn’t in full control of the fake eyeballs he wore. But he looked anything like something that would cause them harm in any way.

But it is always better to be safe than sorry, isn’t it?

Lin gave the weird being a nervous smile while leaning over to push the button that will keep the creature in the elevator and buy them enough time to run and take the stairs.

’’No, thank you, sir. You first,’’ he urged with a strained smile at the slender thing. But the poor thing only stared down at them in confusion.

’’Uh..?’’ It drew out.

Weren’t they the humans Sir Azazel ordered him to lead to the top floor safely upon their arrival?

The creature blinked too fast and Berry gasped when the weird thing fake eyeballs popped out and dropped at his feet.

Lin and Stylie held their breaths and the silence that followed after was enough to usher in a major disaster. Luckily, the elevator took the hint and closed just in time and before they saw its true eyes hiding behind the fake human eyeballs.

No one said anything the moment the door spared them from being victims of the horror that was surely going to take place after. Stepping inside right after being welcomed by that being is how dumb people in horror movies die or are taken and never to be seen again.

No one would believe them if they said they saw a slender, seven feet creature haunting the elevators of this place.

No one.

Not even Grim would believe them.

’’I think we have a better chance at making it to the top floor if we take the stairs.’’ Lin offered and Berry nodded quickly, placing a hand heavily on her chest as she followed her mates to look for the stairs.
