Too Late For Regrets: I Sold My Soul To The New Intern
Chapter 83: Hiss 2
Now that she had something sharp enough to cause deep wounds, she stiffened when she felt the monster approached her from behind again. Summoning whatever courage she had left, she turned and stabbed it where she was sure it would hurt the most.
No one would believe her story of wrestling with a titan cobra-like snake all by herself in the bathroom, feeling trapped.
’’Ahhh,’’ she cried out right before stabbing it as deeply as she could.
Squelch.
She closed her eyes at the blood that spluttered all around her, a few drops of golden blood making a mess of her face.
Corrine shivered—no trembled. Her hands wrapped tightly around the end of her weapon, refusing to let go as the tip of the sharp glass moved deeply into a clog of muscles and flesh.
When it was deep enough for no return and to buy her time to escape whatever madness was happening...or could she still be trapped in her nightmares after death?
Corrine let go, breathing heavily at the tense silence that followed. Every breath she took was colder than the previous one. It rattled her spine and tickled all her five senses.
Corrine didn’t want to believe that she was still alive after all this.
She was so scared to look...tears poured down her cheek like rain sliding down a glass. She wished she hadn’t woken up or hell...she wished she hadn’t killed herself in the first place or she wouldn’t have to be stuck in this reoccuring nightmare all over.
And here she was, thinking she had escaped it all.
After a long while, she wondered if she had injured that beast enough to crawl somewhere to die or...an opportunity had been provided for her to run.
To run as fast as she could.
Without even looking back.
She would rather run towards the unknown than stay here and be murdered by a snake in her nightmares.
Slowly, she opened her eyes to see what she had done.
Blood like liquid gold trailed down the edges of the glass shard like tears as it stuck in the neck of a familiar figure.
Corrine’s eyes widened at who she had just stabbed so cruelly in the neck.
His golden eyes flickered on her in horror as if trying to understand what she had just done to him.
Corrine gasped out loud when it was her new intern she had just brutally made a bloody hole at the side of his neck.
Real fear seized her up when those eyes that looked so eeriely familiar to the monster she had just been introduced moved down enough to stare at the lousy weapon sticking out of the corner of his neck.
For a disturbing moment, he did nothing but stare down at it. Saying nothing while looking as if he was immune to the pain of whatever that shard caused him.
Horror consumed her completely when she watched as the glass melted all at once and the gaping hole in his neck closed in the blink of an eye.
Corrine reached her breaking point as she watched her intern survive a fatal wound to the neck without lifting a finger. Flesh knitted itself together before her eyes. It closed up so neatly like it was never there, leaving the trail of gold blood on him as the only evidence to show she hadn’t just imagined stabbing him right in the neck.
Her breath flowed out of her lips, they were shaky and she appeared overwhelmed by what her eye had just seen.
Those golden eyes...
She gasped again, feeling the walls of her sanity crumbling brick after brick.
Could he have been the...
As if he read her mind, his eyes moved to find hers.
Corrine slammed her hands quickly on her lips as she held back a scream that threatened to set the world on fire.
If fear had a face, it would be the look she wore when she realized everything and knew he wasn’t lying when he told her she died and he brought her back to life.
Hell exists and unfortunately, demons weren’t just the villains of so many fictional tales.
They were real.
And one was standing right in front of her.
With a look she didn’t want to wait long enough to find out what he intended to do to her next.
Without warning, Corrine dropped to her feet and ran as fast as she could. She moved past him with so much urgency she felt nauseous, irritated, angry and....guilty?
His eyes moved on her in alarm as she tried to run from him. And something he hadn’t felt before in a long time overwhelmed him, shutting all reasonable thoughts. It felt like his inner demons were fighting for control to stop her from running.
And they did.
Corrine cried out when the world slipped underneath her feet and did a quick flip.
In the blink of an eye, she found herself back in the dark bedroom, standing and breathing heavily before the dark bed.
How did I get her so...?
Violent goosebumps stilled her thoughts, making her flinch as she sensed another presence with her in the dark room.
Her eyes moved about wildly for where he was. He was everywhere and at the same time...nowhere. But she felt his eyes watching her from all directions.
Corrine took one step and turned around. A startled gasp slipped out of her lips before she was pushed on the bed, falling with a quick bounce.
As he watched her lay on it, his demons stirred again and whispered darkly to him.
Anais doesn’t like us.
Just like the rest of the world.
Sad.
Be gentle.
But I want her soul, her body and her everything.
Grim’s eyes observed her slow attempts to crawl off the bed before he gently climbed onto it and stalked towards her.
Bind us to her with a deal.
He thought before moving slowly on top of her, wondering what kind of deal his Anais would agree to so he could be bound to her forever with no escape for either of them.
