Too Late For Regrets: I Sold My Soul To The New Intern
Chapter 104: Good Or Bad
Corrine only thought that he was a disturbed being, whose way of thinking was different and that he had simply been unlucky to be born this way and cursed with a beauty that would make it harder for someone to genuinely fall in love with him.
A sharp intake of breath, eyes locked, heart still like the wind surrounding them.
Anais was so wrong.
She gently pulled away from his embrace and fortunately he was willing to let her go.
She moved from him, her legs like jelly as she grew more nauseous the more she thought about it and what he could have done.
Her hands rested on her abdomen as she moved farther away from him, heading slowly towards the exit of this place.
She would rather be anywhere than to be with him at this moment.
If he truly loved her as desparately as he wanted her to believe, Corrine paused halfway from him and towards the exit. A throbbing sensation took over every part of her head, making the world around her to appear slightly distorted.
Then....
She definitely didn’t want this kind of love.
No, she would rather embrace the one Henry had to offer her even if it wasn’t genuine—not that she could easily attract a genuine and pure one. But at least it was a thousand times better than a crazed one.
It came with so many red flags, and she wasn’t color-blind enough to ignore them.
Though her heart had been so weak lately to be tempted by such a dangerous and reckless love, but her mind, her faithful and loyal mind says no.
No.
It hurt her so much as she slowly began to move. Tears burned in her eyes as she tried not to shed a single tear. Her lips trembling as she wondered what exactly was her purpose on this earth.
As if the previous one wasn’t hard enough, Corrine sniffed.
God had indeed placed a demon by her side to ensure she would never be able to escape such torment. She can’t give up on it in peace and she can’t even endure it and see it through the end in peace.
A smile formed on her lips as she thought about it.
Wasn’t it lovely?
He had just burned down her house to keep her imprisoned here forever.
She laughed out again, finding it very amusing.
And the worst of it was that she had just deposited at least half of the money to finally purchase that house. She remembered how she overworked herself for months without sleep just to save that sum of money and had it deposited before the owners changed their mind about selling it to her.
Corrine laughed out again. This time, louder. The strange breeze that always found its way inside this protective bubble blew hard against her tear-filled face.
She was this close to losing her mind and someone was determined to make her journey down the path of insanity easy and stress free.
He would never understand the amount of pain he had just caused her by telling her that. The worst of it was how he didn’t feel any shame or remorse...hell, she would be surprised if he felt sorry for letting her know this way.
And that was the being she was supposed to believe that he loved her?
This time, her laughter was laced with pain as she stared up at the sky and sniffed.
She was already so tired now.
She needed to curl up and sleep the pain off.

(THE FOLLOWING DAY)
Corrine sat stiffly on the edge of the bed. Her eyes are puffy and swollen with tears. Dark circles surrounding those weak eyeballs as she stared at the empty space long enough to not even be aware of it.
Her hands rested on her lap as she slowly played with her fingers as the time flew by.
She didn’t even realize it was already morning yet.
How could she? When the room was so dark as if he was deliberate about letting any light into his world.
Corrine sighed deeply again, bringing her hand to her nose as she sniffed. She had cried so much that there were no tears left
What to do now became a puzzling mystery to her.
If she remembered correctly, her people would be paying her a visit again today.
Should she make use of that opportunity to try and escape with them or should she try her luck again this time.
Corrine stared at the door leading inside the bedroom and felt a shiver run down her spine.
There were all sorts of monsters all over this building. She turned to see the faint light of morning making its way through the heavy curtains.
And it was already morning already.
The worst time to try and be sneaky past demons and all other abominations that lived and thrived in this place. It would be a miracle if she made it out alive without being harmed by one of them before she made it to the next floor underneath this.
It was strange how she felt the safest in the den of the worst creature. Though she hadn’t met or known the others, Corrine felt so confident in her judgement.
What could possibly be worse than a pyschopathic, shape-shifting demon snake that burned down your home and is currently holding you captive right after your rebirth?
She blinked as her head felt light and heavy at the same time.
She was nauseous again. She needed to throw up whatever remained in her stomach.
She stood up and moved over to the restroom. She paused at the entrance of the large and luxurious bathroom now cleaned up and repaired to cover up whatever happened here days ago.
She sniffed and stepped in. Feeling the lingering chill of that night still along with the memories of it.
It terrified her how much trauma he was willing to give her at the same time all in the name of love and acceptance.
She bent over the sink and threw up nothing but water.
She hadn’t eaten anything solid since her rebirth.
Corrine stared up and for the first time since her many misfortunes looked at her reflection in the new mirror.
Her mouth...dropped.
What?
She stared closer at the healthy looking, gorgeous female staring back at her and more tears gathered in her eyes.
The bald parts of her head had been replaced with new strands of her hair. Her hair was fuller than before and her face glowed with more color, blending perfectly with the color of her skin.
She couldn’t believe it!
Have I...
Have I been...cured of it?
It amazed her and left her feeling lost.
Obviously, cancer wasn’t going to follow her into this new life. Hell, it died with the old her and this new her was radiant. Glowing with a different complexion that brought a smile to her face.
Corrine quickly stepped back and noticed the changes in her body as well.
Her breasts were much fuller than before. Her curves are more pronounced and she maybe gained a few heights as well?
Her smile widened as she turned and moved in all directions. Feeling genuine joy and relief since she woke up.
At least one good thing had come from bringing her back to life. It made her blush, cry and...grateful all at the same time.
She leaned more on the sink and...cried. Her eyes tight shut as tears pooled in the sink. The sound of her sobs echoing and for a moment she thought about him again.
Did he know about it and found a...
She didn’t even have the heart to think about it as she felt so confused.
Was he good or a bad?
She couldn’t tell!
Her eyes then flickered to the gentle mark of his on the side of her neck. It wasn’t messy or disfiguring like she imagined.
She gasped as she trailed her fingers over the mark and for a moment she felt as though she indeed belonged to something.
To someone.
