Chapter 313: Jovian vs the Justice League

"You're the ones looking for me?"

Inside an upscale private nightclub, an armored man wearing a two-toned mask entered the building. Two alloy weapons were strapped across his back. He made his way to the private room at the very end of the club and looked at the people waiting inside.

The man slowly removed his mask, revealing the handsome face of a rugged, distinguished middle-aged man.

"The famous Deathstroke?"

Bruce Wayne studied the man standing before him. Deathstroke radiated killing intent from every inch of his body, and even Bruce could not say with certainty that he could defeat him.

"Bruce Wayne?"

"Hahahaha! What could the famous Wayne heir possibly want with me?"

Deathstroke looked Bruce up and down before giving him a contemptuous smile.

"Whoosh!"

Bruce wasted no time. He immediately hurled a Batarang.

"Clang!"

Deathstroke instantly drew the sword from his back and sliced Bruce's Batarang cleanly in half.

"Bruce Wayne couldn't throw a Batarang like that. As far as I know, only one person in this city possesses that kind of skill."

Deathstroke frowned and narrowed his eyes at Bruce.

"Mm-hmm."

Bruce sat on the couch and gave a slight nod.

"Pfft..."

"That's hilarious."

"The worthless Wayne heir and the Dark Knight are the same person."

"I bet most of your enemies couldn't imagine that even in their wildest dreams."

Deathstroke immediately understood what was happening. He dropped into the seat opposite Bruce and burst into laughter.

"So what exactly do you want from me?"

Deathstroke frowned. He had a feeling that anything important enough for the famous Batman to seek his help could not possibly be a minor matter.

"Slap."

Without wasting words, Bruce pulled a photograph from his coat and placed it in front of Deathstroke.

"This is..."

Deathstroke froze when he saw the photograph Bruce had produced. His eyes slowly narrowed.

"You're serious?"

Deathstroke looked at Bruce.

"Not just me. Us."

Bruce shook his head, then turned the laptop on the table around and began a slideshow. Every person displayed on the screen was an extraordinary metahuman.

"All these people are willing to join you in this insanity?"

Deathstroke found it unbelievable, yet the idea made his blood race.

"Are you in or not?"

Bruce stared directly at him.

"You pay me, and I get the job done."

The corner of Deathstroke's mouth rose.

"Of course."

Bruce nodded gently.

Mercenaries were actually the easiest people to negotiate with. As long as the money was right, everything else could be settled.

"Then we won't have any problems."

Deathstroke picked up the champagne on the table and drained the glass.

"Call me when you need me, and remember to name your price in advance."

With that, Deathstroke turned and left.

He was still the king of assassins, and he had a busy schedule.

"Whew..."

Bruce exhaled in relief as he watched Deathstroke leave. He still had many things to do.

Elsewhere, inside a small fishing village on the coast, Barry Allen stared curiously at the towering, powerfully built man in front of him.

"Hey, I heard you can breathe underwater. Is that true?"

"Get lost, brat!"

The wild-haired man glared at Barry before continuing toward the local bar.

"Hey, I need to ask you for a favor!"

Barry followed closely behind him and continued talking.

"You talk too much!"

The muscular man became irritated by Barry's incessant chatter. He spun around and reached for him, intending to teach the young man a lesson.

"Crackle!"

A flash of lightning erupted, and the man's hand closed around empty air.

"What?!"

The man froze in disbelief. Barry was even faster than he had imagined.

"Arthur Curry. Interesting."

"You have the same first name as the legendary King Arthur! Are you related to him?"

Barry read from a small booklet in his hand.

"Huh?!"

Arthur stared at the booklet for a moment before reaching into his pocket. When he realized that his driver's license was missing, anger spread across his face.

"You bastard! Give that back!"

Arthur lunged at Barry.

"Too slow! Too slow! Too slow!"

Barry continuously dodged while retreating. From his perspective, Arthur's attacks were painfully slow.

In fact, Barry had always lived in a slow-moving world. Everything seemed unbearably sluggish to him. Trains, cars, and even airplanes moved so slowly that it was almost depressing.

He had once attempted to travel around the world on foot. Barry had believed he was deliberately taking his time, yet he still completed the journey in a single day.

"I'm going to fight back now!"

Barry even warned Arthur, but Arthur could not hear him at all.

"Hi-yah!"

Barry shouted as his fist struck Arthur at tremendous speed.

"Boom!"

Enhanced by Barry's velocity, even a casual punch carried the force of an artillery shell. Arthur was blasted through the air.

"Huh?!"

Lying on the ground, Arthur stared blankly at Barry. He was now certain that the young man standing before him was a freak just like him.

"What the hell do you want from me?"

Arthur climbed back to his feet and questioned Barry.

"To save the world!"

Barry smiled and extended his hand toward Arthur.

"Boom!"

The moment Barry lowered his guard, Arthur punched him and sent him flying.

"Now we're even!"

Barry lay on the ground and looked up at Arthur.

"Of course."

Arthur nodded and rolled his shoulders. He wanted to see what these people meant when they talked about saving the world.

Night fell.

Late that evening, Bruce Wayne put on his Batsuit and arrived beneath Kent Tower. Before long, a flash of lightning appeared, and Barry raced over wearing his red suit.

"That troublesome bastard is up there?"

Arthur wore metal armor and rolled his neck, producing a series of loud cracks.

"Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha."

The Joker, now sporting short green hair and an absurd red suit, laughed continuously as he surveyed the gathered group.

"This is all we have? Are we going up there to die?"

"Hahahaha!"

"I love walking toward certain death. It makes me feel alive!"

The Joker continued spouting his deranged nonsense.

"Joker..."

Barry grimaced as he looked at the red-suited clown. He was still somewhat afraid of the man.

"Boom!"

"You're going to need me."

With a thunderous crash, the heavily armored Cyborg descended from the sky and landed near the group.

"There are only this many of us?"

Deathstroke emerged from the shadows wearing his mask, with two swords strapped across his back.

"This will be enough."

Batman pushed open the building's front door and entered first.

"We don't have a plan?"

Barry froze. Batman did not seem to have explained anything to him.

"There is no plan."

Batman answered Barry's question.

In reality, he was lying. They did have a plan, but he had not told a single person about it. Batman was the only one who knew the full plan because the more people who knew about a strategy, the greater the chances that it would fail.

"All right..."

No one said anything else. They entered Kent Tower through the main entrance in single file.

"Clap. Clap. Clap. Clap."

When the group entered the lobby, they found Jovian already waiting for them in his white uniform.

"I have to admire your courage."

Jovian applauded as he praised them.

The members of Batman's team gulped the moment they saw Jovian.

Truthfully, only when standing before a god could humans truly understand their own weakness.

"Let's go to the training facility."

Jovian turned his back on them and headed toward the underground training area beneath the building.

"Move."

Batman exchanged glances with the others before following Jovian downstairs.

Inside the elevator, everyone remained silent.

Neither Jovian nor Batman's group spoke a single word.

When the elevator stopped, Jovian stepped out first.

Batman and the others stared silently into the darkness outside. In the end, they stayed close together and followed Jovian into the pitch-black room.

"Ding!"

The moment everyone entered, the lights switched on, revealing the room in its entirety.

It was a vast, empty training arena.

"Ah..."

Jovian rolled his shoulders slightly and looked at Batman's team.

"Shall we begin?"

Batman narrowed his eyes. He had a feeling that things could not possibly be this simple.

"Look out!"

The moment Batman focused his attention on Jovian, a blur shot toward him.

Barry was the one who shouted the warning. He immediately shoved Batman aside.

"Boom!"

Dust filled the air.

A mustached, middle-aged man stared at the fist that had once again struck nothing and frowned.

"There's another one?!"

Deathstroke had already been shocked, but when he saw the middle-aged man in the tight white suit suddenly join the battle, his pupils contracted violently.

He was certain that only Kryptonians could move at that level of speed.

"Pfft!"

As Deathstroke prepared himself for battle, an arm suddenly punched straight through his chest.

"Cough!"

A large amount of blood poured from Deathstroke's mouth.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk."

"There are three of us."

Mark pulled his arm from Deathstroke's chest and shook his head as he corrected him.

"What a shame..."

Jovian sighed as he watched Deathstroke collapse.

The comic-book version might have been somewhat interesting, but unfortunately, this was the far weaker live-action version. The same was true for everyone else in the room. They had all been nerfed considerably.

Jovian, meanwhile, was an enhanced version of Superman.

"Barry, run!"

Batman frowned at the sight before him and urgently ordered Barry to move.

"Run?"

"Got it!"

Barry had been completely stunned by the sudden turn of events. After a moment's hesitation, he turned and sprinted away.

As Barry accelerated, the entire world seemed to slow down around him.

Then he witnessed something horrifying.

Mark, Nolan, and Jovian's eyes slowly began moving toward him.

All three of them turned their gazes directly onto Barry.

"Oh my God..."

Barry panicked at the nightmarish sight. He felt as though he could no longer breathe.

Before he could think any further, Mark charged toward him.

"Not good!"

Barry saw Mark rushing at him and immediately changed direction. Barry was ultimately a step faster and easily evaded Mark's attack.

However, the instant he escaped Mark, Nolan's fist was already waiting for him.

Nolan appeared to have extensive experience fighting speedsters. The moment Barry dodged his attack, Nolan slammed his foot into the ground.

An enormous burst of energy shattered the floor.

"No!"

The resulting shock wave forcibly knocked Barry out of his high-speed state.

He tumbled violently across the ground.

"Barry?!"

Batman looked nervously at the fallen Barry.

"I'm fine!"

Barry shook his head, indicating that he was all right.

"Grab!"

The moment Batman turned his head, a massive hand clamped around his skull.

"So you're the one who wanted to pick a fight with me?"

"I already spared you once. Why can't you take a hint?"

"You think you have what it takes to challenge me? I'm asking you, do you have what it takes?"

Jovian stared at Batman as he questioned him.

"You..."

Batman's lips were dry. He tried to answer, but no words came out.

"Let him go!"

Arthur grabbed a steel trident he had found somewhere and hurled it at Jovian.

Jovian said nothing. He simply moved Batman in front of himself.

"Squelch!"

Blood sprayed through the air as Arthur's trident buried itself in Batman's ass.

"I..."

Batman wanted to say something, but ultimately forced himself to remain silent.

"Uh, sorry..."

Arthur's eye twitched when he saw what he had done, and he repeatedly apologized.

"Bzzzt!"

Jovian looked at Arthur and fired a beam from his eyes, slicing off Arthur's penis.

"If you aren't willing to go fuck fish in the ocean, then you don't need it!"

Jovian tossed Batman onto Arthur.

Arthur had already been in excruciating pain, and Batman landing on him only made it worse.

"Hold on!"

"My reinforcements are almost here!"

Batman clutched his injured ass and spoke coldly to Arthur.

"I'm about to die..."

Arthur's forehead was covered in sweat.

"Crack!"

At the same time, Nolan effortlessly tore Cyborg in half.

"It's time to end this!"

Mark grabbed the Flash by the throat.

"You're the ones who are finished!"

"Shazam!"

Just as Mark prepared to eliminate the Flash, thunderous explosions echoed through the training arena.

One ridiculous-looking costumed figure after another descended from above.

"You finally made it..."

"Do you believe me now?"

Batman breathed a sigh of relief when he saw them arrive.

In truth, he had already invited these people, the only individuals he believed might be capable of standing against Jovian.

Unfortunately, they were all Jovian's fans.

That was why Batman had risked himself and started a livestream. It had all been intended to convince Shazam and the others to come help him.
