She flipped a page, begrudgingly lowered her head, her speed in flipping through the book became faster and faster, and her grip grew stronger, almost to the point of tearing the pages of the notebook.

The old servant saw her suddenly pushing the notebook away, breathing heavily, chest heaving. Deeply concerned, he summoned up the courage to ask, "Miss, are you alright?"

"I’m fine."

Zevaney Kingsley didn’t even glance at him as she stood up, her brow furrowed with anger, delicately picking up the recently pushed aside notebook and phone from the table, heading towards the study. "I’m going to make a phone call, tidy up the room quickly."

The old servant noticed she was not in a good mood and quickly stepped aside to let her pass.

Zevaney Kingsley walked to the study with a steady expression, closed the door, and dialed Nathan Garland’s phone number.

The phone rang seven or eight times on the other end.

Nathan Garland answered, "What’s the matter?"

Zevaney Kingsley recalled the message James Lawrence relayed from Lynn Kingsley before he left, and the humiliation she suffered this time at The First Research Institute.

Zevaney Kingsley lowered her gaze and said quietly, "Teacher, do you think the Director might have leaked the topics before the selection?"

Nathan Garland was shocked by her rebellious words and sternly stopped her, "Do you know what you’re saying? Don’t talk nonsense!"

Zevaney Kingsley’s resentment and reluctance, which had been suppressed for days, were not something that could be halted by a simple reprimand from him.

She said softly, "If the Director didn’t leak the topics to her beforehand, how could Lynette’s notebook, which I have in my possession, happen to not include any content on that topic? Additionally, even if it were coincidental, how did Nathalie Quinlan manage to solve such a difficult problem in such a short time? Unless... someone told her in advance!"

Nathan Garland was in the office at the Grade 5 laboratory, arranging the project allocations for the next six months with his team.

Zevaney Kingsley’s voice wasn’t loud, but it disturbed the silence of the office.

So everyone heard what Zevaney Kingsley said on the phone.

These people were Nathan Garland’s connections within the institute, and each one of them exchanged glances, clearly casting doubt on the results of this selection.

Nathan Garland stepped aside, furrowed his brows and said, "...What you’ve said lacks evidence."

"I know what I’m saying lacks evidence, but the fact remains that the coincidences are far too excessive. Mr. Martin probably doesn’t know about this yet, right?"

Zevaney Kingsley whispered, "The Director may wield absolute power at The First Research Institute, but what about the Hidden Family? Would the Hidden Family tolerate his secret manipulations?"

Nathan Garland’s brows knitted tightly, his demeanor and tone turned serious, "You have no evidence to support your claims. If someone overhears, it could lead to unnecessary trouble."

"Teacher!" Zevaney Kingsley, who had stayed by his side for several years, understood Nathan Garland’s psyche thoroughly, she smiled slightly and interrupted, "Your capabilities have always been outstanding at the institute, yet you’re constantly overshadowed by Orson Saban. Even so, if the Director didn’t conduct the so-called heir selection this time, the future successor of The First Research Institute should rightfully be chosen between you and the Vice Principal. The Vice Principal has been focused solely on research for so many years, you’re the preferred candidate in most minds in the institute! I’m not resigned, are you?"

Nathan Garland’s expression subtly changed, at least he didn’t stop her again.
