The Unveiling of Secret Queen
Chapter 2335: Nathan Garland Finally Fell for It
Zevaney Kingsley whispered, "Teacher, I’m just standing up for you. Mr. Martin doesn’t know about the leak beforehand. If he knew, he definitely wouldn’t cover for the people involved."
Nathan Garland hung up Zevaney Kingsley’s phone call and returned to sit down at his desk.
Others in the office exchanged glances, and someone, unable to hold back, spoke out first, "Mr. Garland, we all heard what your student said on the phone! I think she’s right..."
Nathan Garland didn’t respond, sitting there with a furrowed brow as if pondering the matter.
Someone else stepped up and said, "Yes, how can The First Research Institute be handed over to an outsider, the dean is too confused this time!"
"Mr. Garland, why don’t we go to the dean and talk... at least let the dean give us a reasonable explanation, otherwise how can his student command respect!"
Nathan Garland stopped the agitated few, "Come back."
The few halted, turned, and returned.
Some didn’t understand why he was enduring in silence, standing up for him, "Mr. Garland, we don’t know about this rookie king, we only know that you’ve been the one contributing to the institute all these years. Your abilities, everyone sees them! In The First Research Institute, I only respect you."
"Me too."
"Me too."
A few chimed in immediately.
"...we have no evidence." Nathan Garland always had a meticulous mind, not revealing his thoughts easily, he could only sigh helplessly, "If the dean doesn’t admit it, no one can produce evidence. Why bother?"
Everyone’s heart sank halfway.
This was originally just Zevaney Kingsley’s own speculation, but now it was almost being treated as fact.
Seeing the resentment showing between their brows, Nathan Garland gathered the scattered project sheets on the table and handed them out one by one.
"The projects for the second half of the year are here, take them back and have a look yourself."
His uncompetitive demeanor contrasted starkly with Nicholas Fuller’s willingness to engage in shady dealings for the sake of his student.
As expected, someone showed reluctance, looking at him, "Mr. Garland, are you just going to let it go like this?"
Nathan Garland gave him a lukewarm look, raised his hand, indicating for him to stop, "After all, the dean is the master of the institute, whatever he arranges, we below will follow. It’s fine to talk about it with me here, but don’t mention it outside and cause trouble for yourself."
With this, the people in the office nodded in agreement.
But in their hearts, they felt even more unfair for him!
Understanding when to stop, Nathan Garland let them take the folders out, then he took out his phone from the drawer and lit up the screen.
Other than the apology text message from Zevaney Kingsley saying she was emotionally stirred earlier, there were no other missed calls or unread messages.
Nathan Garland opened the text messages, the top one was still the message he sent to Martin in the morning, asking for a meeting.
It was already three in the afternoon, over ten hours had passed.
There was no response from Martin, clearly unwilling to make the time for him.
Nathan Garland breathed deeply, forcefully reined in his emotions, and thought of another way.
He immediately opened the computer, logged onto the Black Market, and bought an anonymous ID, pondering for a moment, then edited a message and sent it out.
After typing the last word, Nathan Garland pressed the Enter key.
The message was sent successfully!
He leaned back in his chair, stretched his body, a trace of a cold smile on his lips, as he took a tea cup in hand and leisurely sipped some tea.
