Chapter 388: Chapter 385: Unstoppable Diarrhea

After notifying the Thief Master, Feng Hao thought for a moment before connecting to Xiyue’s Spiritual Mark.

"Auntie, Five States City is in trouble! We need backup, fast!" Feng Hao got straight to the point.

Upon hearing this, Xiyue flew into a rage, her usual dignified composure completely gone. "What’s going on? Who has the gall to attack Five States City?"

"It’s the Root Cutting Sect." Feng Hao didn’t waste any time and quickly explained the situation.

"Alright, I’ve got it." Xiyue snarled, gritting her teeth. "I’ll bring reinforcements right away. And remember, you must protect Yaoyao and Xiaoshuang!"

"Don’t worry, Auntie. Unless I’m dead, no harm will come to Yaoyao and the others," Feng Hao replied with a solemn nod.

Xiyue sounded slightly relieved. "Good. Now that sounds like a man."

"..." Feng Hao was speechless. "So, what you’re saying is I wasn’t a man before?"

"A man?" Xiyue scoffed. "In my eyes, you’re all just a bunch of kids. Enough chitchat. Get out of there and leave the Root Cutting Sect’s camp as soon as you can."

Feng Hao chuckled helplessly, cut the Divine Sense connection, and turned back toward the array.

Seeing Feng Hao return so soon, the Tier Six Squad Leader looked surprised. "Huh? You’re back already? It hasn’t even been five minutes, has it?"

"We’re like an old married couple. All that matters is that she got the message. No need to drag things out," Feng Hao said, adopting the air of a seasoned veteran in matters of the heart.

The members of the patrol squad listened as if they’d received a great revelation, and immediately began to suck up to him. "As expected of you, sir! Even your words are so profound."

"You think so? I think so too." Feng Hao gave a smug smile, clasped his hands behind his back, and swaggered off.

From a distance, he actually looked quite profound and mysterious...

With the message sent, Feng Hao’s mission was half-complete. Next came the most crucial step: finding a way to sow chaos in the camp and relieve some of the pressure on the city.

As for how to create that chaos, Feng Hao already had a few ideas.

First, as a Ninth-level Alchemist who was also an expert in poisoncraft, he certainly wasn’t going to let his talents go to waste.

After his call with Sun Yaowen some time ago, he had been hard at work producing a large batch of poisons. Now was the time to use them.

Beyond that, Feng Hao had another idea: tamper with the enemy’s artillery shells.

But this idea, while simple in concept, would be difficult to execute. He would have to sneak into the camp’s armory and tamper with every single shell—a massive undertaking.

Given the limited time his disguise would last, that was hardly feasible.

’Forget it. I’ll start by tampering with the water and food supplies.’ With a soft sigh, Feng Hao quietly slipped into the camp’s kitchen.

He had to admit, the bastards from the Root Cutting Sect really knew how to live. The kitchen tent was even larger than the main command tent, with at least a hundred chefs bustling about inside. They had every ingredient imaginable; it was outrageously extravagant.

This was obviously not good for Feng Hao. With so many eyes around, trying to poison the food right under their noses would be extremely difficult.

’Good thing these chefs are only Tier Three or Four Mages. Otherwise, this would be a real problem.’

Feng Hao sneered to himself and activated Shadow Stealth to slip inside. With his current ability to conceal his presence, these Tier Three and Four Mages wouldn’t be able to detect him at all. Besides, a chaotic place like a kitchen only made it easier to stay hidden.

While in stealth, Feng Hao moved nimbly through the kitchen. Unbeknownst to the hundred-odd chefs, he added his specially-made poison to all sorts of ingredients before slipping away as quietly as he had come, leaving not a trace behind.

Once clear of the kitchen, Feng Hao deactivated Shadow Stealth. He glanced back at the tent, a cold smirk playing on his lips.

"Brother Feng, what was that poison you just used? Is it potent?" Three-second Fire asked, his eyes filled with curiosity.

"Heh heh, this stuff is my own secret recipe," Feng Hao said with a wicked grin. "It’s called ’Endless Purge,’ specially formulated for a Mage’s constitution. Once it takes effect, I guarantee they’ll shit their guts out."

"Damn, that’s a vicious trick!" Three-second Fire exclaimed.

"Vicious?" Feng Hao sneered, gritting his teeth. "Are we more vicious than them?"

"That’s true. No one would shed a tear if these guys died," Three-second Fire agreed, at a loss for words.

Feng Hao didn’t dwell on it. He continued his swaggering "patrol" of the camp, heading toward the artillery formations on either side.

He had chosen Endless Purge after careful consideration. For one, it was cheap to produce, meaning he had more than enough to go around. For another, Mages had a naturally high resistance to most poisons.

At least, as far as Feng Hao knew, very few poisons could kill a Mage outright, and those that could were prohibitively expensive to create.

Comparing the options, a special-effect poison like Endless Purge was actually more effective.

If for no other reason, in terms of duration, Endless Purge completely blew every other poison out of the water.

Other poisons might drain some Qi Blood and vitality at most, but Endless Purge would give them non-stop diarrhea for at least two or three days. It would absolutely slow the Root Cutting Sect’s offensive.

"Brother Feng, we’re running out of time. We should get ready to pull out," Three-second Fire suddenly warned, just as Feng Hao was preparing to take care of the artillery positions.

Feng Hao paused, stunned. "Didn’t you say it would last for a whole day? It’s only been half a day!"

"Well..." Three-second Fire said, his voice full of despair. "Normally, it would last a day, but this old guy’s Genetic Tree is missing a root system, which drastically shortened the assimilation time."

"Fuck! Why didn’t you say so earlier?!" Feng Hao couldn’t help but curse.

"I didn’t realize it at first either!" Three-second Fire sounded like he was on the verge of tears.

With things as they were, Feng Hao obviously couldn’t stay in the Root Cutting Sect camp any longer. He gritted his teeth, cast a final, frustrated glance at the nearby artillery positions, and reluctantly decided to leave.

However, just as he was about to leave, the sounds of battle suddenly erupted from the other side of the camp.

Normally, Feng Hao wouldn’t have had time for such things, but the person fighting the Root Cutting Sect patrol was none other than Yun Jiansong, the genius Swordsman from the Five Provinces Academy.

’Dammit, what’s he doing here?’ Feng Hao cursed under his breath. Gritting his teeth, he rushed over to help.

There was no helping it. Man proposes, Heaven disposes, as they say. If his cover was going to be blown, it was going to be blown.

"Xiao San’Er, get ready to fight!" Feng Hao told Three-second Fire via Divine Sense. He drew his Su Mu Dagger and charged into the fray. He appeared to be attacking Yun Jiansong, but the moment he entered the battle, he instantly wiped out a large portion of the patrol squad.

The sudden turn of events stunned everyone, including a startled Yun Jiansong.

"What are you gaping at? Run!" Feng Hao shot an exasperated glare at Yun Jiansong, grabbing him and pulling him toward the edge of the camp.

"Brother Feng?" Yun Jiansong was stunned for a second, but then he didn’t hesitate. He spun around and slashed out with his sword, a wave of Sword Qi forcing the numerous patrol members back.
