Chapter 387: Chapter 384: The Mysterious Youth

Feng Hao couldn’t be bothered with Three-second Fire, instead focusing on meticulously exploring every corner of the camp.

To his disappointment, a thorough search yielded no sign of Sun Yaowen or Miao Feng. It seemed the Root Cutting Sect had more than just this one camp.

"So, we’ve pretty much scouted the terrain. What’s next?" Three-second Fire asked curiously.

Feng Hao gave a cold smile, gritting his teeth. "Of course, we’re going to light a fire in their rear to relieve some of the pressure on the city."

"Light a fire?" Three-second Fire was stunned, hastily shaking its head. "Don’t you go counting on me for that. This fire seed can’t even start a proper fire."

"Shoo, shoo. I wasn’t counting on you in the first place," Feng Hao said, exasperated.

"Then how are you going to light a fire? Ordinary flames are useless; any water-based Secret Technique can put them out," Three-second Fire said, confused.

Feng Hao’s face darkened. "When I say ’light a fire,’ I mean cause chaos in their rear, not literally start a fire. It’s a metaphor, understand?"

"You should have said so earlier!" Three-second Fire pouted sullenly and dropped the subject.

Feng Hao shook his head helplessly and began using his identity as a Bishop to gather information from the Root-cutting Mages in the camp.

As for how to create chaos, Feng Hao already had a plan.

"Hey, you acolytes up ahead, what are you doing pacing back and forth over there?" Feng Hao spotted a patrol team from the True God Sect and swaggered over to "inspect" them.

Several patrol Mages immediately stopped and looked at Feng Hao, stunned. "Sir, we’re on patrol."

"Of course I know you’re on patrol," Feng Hao said irritably. "I’m asking *what* are you patrolling?"

"Uh..." The leader, a Sixth-rank Mage, was taken aback for a moment before chuckling. "Our Commander tasked us with keeping a close eye on the array’s border to prevent anyone from getting in or out."

"Is that so?" Feng Hao feigned a moment of surprise, then put on a pleased expression. "You’ve worked hard. Here, come, come. I just confiscated a good number of medicinal pills in the city. Let me give you all a little bonus."

As he spoke, he took out a pile of cat food from his Spatial Ring and grinningly distributed it to the patrol team.

Suddenly being gifted so many top-grade medicinal pills, the patrol team was overwhelmed by the unexpected favor. The leader, the Sixth-rank Mage, was clearly a seasoned veteran and quickly understood Feng Hao’s intentions.

He glanced around furtively, then lowered his voice. "Sir, if you have something to say, just say it. We’ll definitely take care of it for you."

"Haha, I like your type." Feng Hao gave a meaningful smile, then feigned hesitation. "It’s nothing, really. I just want to step outside the array for a bit of fresh air. You guys should have a way to let me out, right?"

"Well..." The Tier Six Squad Leader hesitated slightly. "To be honest, sir, the Holy Envoy himself ordered that no one is to enter or exit the array at will until Five States City is taken. May I ask why you need to go out?"

Feng Hao paused for a moment, then came up with a quick-witted excuse. "It’s nothing important. I just wanted to contact the Patriarch’s wife."

Hearing this, the members of the patrol team couldn’t help but chuckle. "Ah, so that’s how it is."

The Tier Six Squad Leader said with understanding, "Alright then, follow me. But let’s be clear, we can only give you ten minutes at most."

’Ten minutes is ten minutes. It’s better than nothing,’ Feng Hao lamented inwardly.

Then, stealthily led by the patrol team, he headed toward a corner of the camp.

Just as they left, a luxurious Magic Energy Flying Vehicle landed in the camp. A middle-aged man and a young man quickly stepped out. The middle-aged man wore a dark red robe of extraordinary quality, clearly holding a high position in the Root Cutting Sect. The youth beside him was also dressed luxuriously, but his face was expressionless, as calm as a pool of stagnant water.

After the two got out of the vehicle, the young man suddenly stopped and frowned slightly as he gazed in the direction Feng Hao had gone.

"What’s wrong, Wen Jie?" the middle-aged man asked, turning back in surprise.

The young man gave a faint smile, his expression calm. "Oh, it’s nothing. I probably just saw wrong."

Hearing this, the middle-aged man didn’t press the matter. He chuckled and walked toward a nearby tent, saying, "The Saint Master sending you here this time is clearly a test for you. After we take Five States City, I expect I’ll have to start calling you the Saint Heir."

"Holy Envoy, please don’t joke about me. In any case, I am still your junior," the young man said with a slight, polite smile.

"Haha." The middle-aged man laughed heartily, pleased. "You little rascal, you usually seem so cold, but you’ve got a sweet tongue. Come on, let’s go have a few drinks. By the time we’re done, Five States City should be just about taken."

"I would be delighted," the young man said with a respectful smile, following the middle-aged man into the tent.

If Feng Hao were still nearby, he would have been astonished to discover that this mysterious young man from the Root Cutting Sect was none other than Lu Wen Jie, the one he had rescued from that bizarre town—the sole surviving "specimen" from the True God Sect’s experiments.

Of course, Feng Hao didn’t know that such an acquaintance was in the camp. At this moment, with the patrol team’s help, he had already snuck outside the array.

"Sir, hurry up. We’ll keep watch for you," the Tier Six Squad Leader called out in a low voice.

Feng Hao gave a slight nod in response, then darted into a nearby grove of trees in a flash, a cold smirk playing on his lips.

Once free from the array’s cover, Three-second Fire was equally excited. "Whoa, I can’t believe we got out so easily! Boss, why don’t we just run for it? The situation in the city is pretty dangerous."

"Run my ass! Yaoyao is still in there!" Feng Hao retorted irritably.

"Uh, right." Three-second Fire sighed in realization. "Big Sis has treated me well. We definitely can’t abandon her."

Feng Hao rolled his eyes and proceeded to connect to the Thief Master’s Spiritual Mark.

Once the communication was established, the Thief Master’s lighthearted laugh came through. "Instead of cultivating properly during the New Year, you’re contacting your master? Are you calling to wish me a happy New Year?"

"Master, Five States City is under a large-scale siege by the Celestial Eagle Team and the True God Sect! The entire city is sealed by an array, so no information can get out. Please inform the major sects to send reinforcements immediately!" Feng Hao was in no mood for pleasantries and directly explained the situation in Five States City.

Hearing this, the Thief Master’s voice instantly grew heavy. "Those bastards are courting death! Xiaofeng, don’t panic. I’ll go inform the major sects right now. By the way, how did you get out?"

Feng Hao didn’t waste words and quickly explained how he had infiltrated the Root Cutting Sect’s camp.

"You child, you’re playing games with your own life!" the Thief Master said, choking with anger. "Listen to me and use this chance to escape immediately. I’ll contact the Palace Masters of the nearby branch halls right away. Their reinforcements should be able to get there soon. As for the reinforcements from the Grand Hall and the major sects, it will probably take them three or four days to arrive."

Feng Hao chuckled wryly. "It’s fine, Master. Your student knows his limits."

"You..." The Thief Master was too angry to speak. He exasperatedly hung up the communication, then gritted his teeth and initiated Stone Listening Communication with the leaders of the major sects to inform them of the situation in Five States City.
