The Strongest Talent Tree
Chapter 386 - 383: Infiltrating the Enemy Camp
Chapter 386: Chapter 383: Infiltrating the Enemy Camp
Feng Hao didn’t even bat an eye after taking out the Tier Seven Bishop. In his eyes, the old man was just a humanoid monster; killing him was no different from killing a rabbit in a starting zone.
"The Treasure Pavilion should be out of danger now. I’m thinking of checking out the enemy camp. What do you think?" Feng Hao asked Three-second Fire thoughtfully.
Three-second Fire paused for a moment, then pouted and replied, "You’re the boss. You call the shots."
"Then it’s settled." Feng Hao gave a faint smile, stripped the clothes right off the Tier Seven Bishop, and put them on. He then found a Token in the Bishop’s Spatial Ring. "Tsk, tsk. Don’t you think I’ll be a bit too conspicuous going in like this?"
"Obviously," Three-second Fire retorted irritably. "Do you think a Fourth-rank Mage is qualified to be a Bishop?"
"..." The corner of Feng Hao’s mouth twitched as he realized his oversight. "So what now? I can’t just run back and get a regular believer’s outfit, can I?"
"Heh heh." Three-second Fire gave a mysterious smile, then zipped into the dead Bishop’s sea of consciousness. It popped back out a moment later holding a vibrant green Genetic Tree. "Now’s the time for me to show my worth."
"What do you mean? You have a way?" Feng Hao asked, surprised.
"Of course." Three-second Fire smiled confidently. It shot out a puff of flame from its rear, like a fart, instantly incinerating the Tier Seven Bishop’s corpse. It then explained to Feng Hao, "You humans’ Genetic Trees have a special property. When I refine them, they emit an aura corresponding to their rank. In other words, I can help you fake the aura of a Seventh Rank Mage."
"Holy crap, you can do that?" Feng Hao exclaimed.
Hearing this, Three-second Fire became incredibly smug, puffing out its chest. "But of course! I have plenty of skills!"
"Cut the crap and get on with the disguise," Feng Hao said testily. "I’m going to the Root Cutting Sect’s camp to stir up some major trouble."
Three-second Fire pouted resentfully, dragging the green Genetic Tree back into Feng Hao’s sea of consciousness. It added a reminder, "By the way, it’ll take over a day to refine this old guy’s Genetic Tree, which means the disguise will only last for a little over a day."
"Only a day?" Feng Hao said, slightly disappointed.
"A day is already pretty damn good, okay?" Three-second Fire said, exasperated.
"Alright then. Don’t start refining it yet. Wait until I reach the Root Cutting Sect’s camp. Every second counts." Feng Hao nodded thoughtfully, then took out the Tier Seven Bishop’s flying car. After quickly familiarizing himself with the controls, he flew off in the direction of the artillery fire coming from outside the city.
He had to admit, the old man’s flying car was quite impressive, at least in terms of speed and maneuverability. It was much better than Mansa, though certainly not as sturdy.
A little over half an hour later, the car was outside the city. In the distance, he could see a camp nestled in the suburban jungle. Rows of imposing Magic Energy Cannons were lined up on either side of the camp, continuously firing shells into the city.
After getting out of the car, Feng Hao took a deep breath and adjusted his voice to sound elderly. ’It’s uncomfortable to talk like this, but a disguise has to be thorough.’
"The camp entrance is just ahead. Start the refinement now," Feng Hao communicated with Three-second Fire using his Divine Sense.
"You got it." Three-second Fire didn’t waste any time. Surging flames instantly engulfed the Genetic Tree. As it refined the tree, it grinned mischievously. "You handle the posing, I’ll handle the disguise. No one will be able to tell."
"Right." Feng Hao nodded to himself. After composing himself once more, he swaggered toward the Root Cutting Sect camp.
Two Fifth-rank Mages were guarding the entrance. One wore the robes of the True God Sect, the other a cloak of the Celestial Eagle Team. ’Looks like the Celestial Eagle Team and the True God Sect really are working together.’
"Halt! Who goes there?" Seeing Feng Hao approach, the two guards immediately moved to block his path.
Feng Hao snorted, pulling out the Bishop Token and scolding them coldly, "You blind fools. How dare you try and stop me?"
Seeing the Bishop Token, the True God Sect guard immediately grew anxious. "It’s a Bishop! My apologies for the offense just now."
But the Celestial Eagle Team guard beside him looked doubtful. He eyed Feng Hao suspiciously and questioned, "As far as I know, the assault on the city has just begun. Why would a Bishop be returning at this time?"
"Enough nonsense. I have an urgent matter to report. Step aside," Feng Hao said, feigning impatience.
"What kind of urgent matter requires a Bishop to report it personally?" the Celestial Eagle Team guard asked, still skeptical.
"You’re not qualified to know," Feng Hao scoffed.
The Celestial Eagle Team guard pouted resentfully and pressed through gritted teeth, "But why have I never seen you before?"
"Nonsense! I’ve never seen you, either!" Feng Hao bluffed in retort.
At this, the Celestial Eagle Team guard was struck speechless.
The True God Sect guard seized the chance to suck up. "Exactly! The True God Sect has so many Bishops, even I don’t know all of them. Who do you think you are? What are you spacing out for? Hurry up and make way for the Bishop! Can you bear the responsibility if you hold up important business?"
The Celestial Eagle Team guard was left completely dumbfounded. Helplessly, he cleared a path for Feng Hao.
Feng Hao grunted, patted the True God Sect guard’s shoulder, and nodded in satisfaction. "You’ve got potential, kid. A bright future ahead of you."
With that, he swaggered into the Root Cutting Sect camp without a backward glance.
"Take care, Lord Bishop~!" the True God Sect guard called out, waving excitedly.
Once inside the camp, Feng Hao couldn’t help but breathe a quiet sigh of relief. ’Honestly, if it weren’t for my innate talent for putting on an act, I would have been exposed back there.’
"Not a bad performance! Much better than those women in the Crystal Card videos!" Three-second Fire marveled.
"..." Feng Hao’s face darkened. ’Damn it, this thing is comparing my acting to porn stars. It must have a death wish.’
’If the situation weren’t so delicate, I’d definitely hit it with the "Tightening Spell."’ "Cut the crap. Let’s get the lay of the land first."
"Don’t worry," Three-second Fire grinned. "I just did a quick scan. There aren’t many people in the camp. They should all be attacking the city."
"Good." Feng Hao relaxed and began to stroll around the camp, putting on an act.
After a short walk, he saw a Magic Pattern Matrix shimmering with a halo of light. It was especially dazzling against the night sky and flickering firelight.
’This must be the Magic Pattern Matrix for the Shielding Array,’ Feng Hao mused to himself.
"Then what are you waiting for? Find a way to take it out!" Three-second Fire said excitedly.
Feng Hao rolled his eyes. "What the hell do you know?" he said irritably. "How could a massive Array like this have only one matrix? Wrecking it blindly would be useless. We have to find the core matrix."
Three-second Fire pouted in disappointment. "You humans... You have to make everything so complicated."
